    Thank you for the mention of the border war, the way you did . I was a Parabat (Airborne Special Forces) and worked a lot with 32 in Angola . When I went to Ngepi, the security guard at the gate recognised my maroon Parabat jacket I had on my back seat, and he told me he was with 32, and after a bit of a chat, we worked out that we had actually been on a few ops together during those days and had shared a battle (contact) situation. Quite surreal

    This brings back fond memories of staying at this camp and attempting to swim in their river pool after a heavy rainfall up north in Angola; it was a real workout with the river current flowing fast. Thanks for refreshing my memories of Ngepi

    I just stumbled across your video and gave it a go. I have no idea how I have missed you until now. This was superbly well done! Not only is the scenery and wildlife amazing but the filmmaking is fantastic. Your editing is spot on. Now I have to go back and watch the rest! My wife and I are shipping our old school Defender and Aussie adventure camper trailer to Capetown in '25 (with any luck!). We planning a year long trip through the same areas and just put Ngepi on our "Must Do" list! I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Cheers, y'all!

    So thankful for this wonderful getaway. I was bored to death, and the weather outside is nasty. This couldn't have came at a better time. As always your videos are so full of beautiful scenery, and enlightening information about you amazing country. I pray someday I get to experience myself first hand one day. Thank you both so much for bringing us along. Stay blessed.

    I drive the Capri strip in luxury coach. What was amazing is that from Rhundu to Katimilo is was a sand track similar to the ones that you'll drove in the Botswana game park. It was Kamikaze driving when overtaking trucks. The dust was blinding. When we reached Katimilo a group of South Africans in their 4 x 4 asked if I was A MALKOP. The best driving experience in my life. It took two to clean the Coach. Luckily no dust in side but the outside and the rubbers of the bunks. Thank you for your informative.

    We visited this area in October 2021, the water level was actually quite a bit lower. What a special place and as you mentioned, probably the highlight of a Namibia trip. Only the Kunene area came close.

    Matt, it is very amazing indeed as i learn about this unique inland river delta system which does not discharge into the sea. I am from a very small pacific island nation called Papua New Guinea which is in the middle of the south pacific ocean. I am following all your videos and they are indeed very informative but at the same time enjoying watching your adventurous tour per your videos.

    7:45 about your ladder, make it slide out under the tent on rails and just fold down, keep it fixed to the vehicle. Just pull out, fold down and done. A ladder that spans the whole width of your vehicle should be long enough for easy tent access.

    Awesome as always, both the scenery and the filming/editing. That shower at that camp- how do you let others know it is occupied at the moment? I didn't see any sign etc that you would flip one way or the other, but I did see a small hook at the entrance. I could see mishaps taking place rather regularly LOL

    • @mattdubber
      @mattdubber  Рік тому +2

    Great video. I really should make it out to the strip. On Operation Savannah, it's good to note that South African forces invaded Angola, unprovoked, supported by the CIA. This incursion influenced the subsequent Angolan Civil War which lasted almost three decades. Another consequence is that it would take another 15 years for Namibia to gain its independence.

    Put politics away, its a sensitive issue for ur mixed hwritage viewers. For some SADF was a colonial army hell bent on controling all of south africa directly and indirectly. The war in Angola helped gave independence to Namibia in 1990. For some SADF was fighting a just cause with CIA on communism, to some Fidel castro, the soviets amd Angolans were fighting on the right side of history. You dont win with these topics
