I really enjoyed watching this video. Funny how you could have flown to jfk in the time that the delay was. In the summer i flew with a Spanish airline that was operated on jet2s behalf, we were also faced with the language barrier between the the captain and the cabin crew, there service was really good except they had clearly not checked if the flight was catered correctly resulting in most of the passengers getting the wrong meal. Once we had landed we were stationary for half an hour.

I was preety chilled compared to other passengers.
i would have a outrage if this happened to me mate, this was a 10 hour delay on a perfectly normal flight. what about the people that booked hotel rooms at certain times or trains and busses, they missed all of that. I would be absolutely triggered.
We have flown with Jet2 on several occasions over the years, who I must say are excellent. Jet2 Pilots keep you updated through out the flight. But sadly we had to endure the "Smartlynx" experience 6 times last summer. It was awful to say the least, always some form of delay, not as bad as yours but none the less we never left on time. The pilots command of the English language was poor. On all 6 flights the flight deck crew would make an unintelligible announcement before departure and that was it. I have been involved with aviation all my life, I can honestly say the handling skills especially during the touchdown phase was always poor. Good video by the way cant believe how calm you were.
Thanks Ray, sorry to hear your experience was bad also, it seems like too many airlines are relying on this charter airline, which struggles to manage their flights.
I know the troubles of flying with a medical emergency, I flew on monarch in 2016 and 2 people had heart attacks! resulting in a 3-4 hour delay.

Not a nice experience, but at least you departed on the day of the flight, this year 1000s of passengers had flights delayed by one or two days or even cancelled at short notice.
Thats a good point. I am thankful we did takeoff. Im preety sure if we havent of made our last slot it would of been a cancellation.

I was flying from Gatwick to antalya the other day with easyjet and had horrendous delays, there and back!! On the way home our plane got changed from an a321 to 320 and loads of people got kicked off!! Obviously it can't be helped but was still horrible haha! My friends who were going as well had different flights with smartlynx and they said their aircraft was awful!! Heard nothing buy rubbish about smartlynx!!
