MAKING OF Beetlejuice The Musical Animatic - Side by Side Thumbnail Comparison

- I've gotten some requests to see some of the process of how I made my Beetlejuice Animatic, so I decided to put this side by side comparison together! On the left is the final product, and on the right is the earliest exported version of the animatic that made any sense. I hope you guys enjoy seeing a little glimpse behind the curtain! Thanks for all the positive feedback on the video =]

I want to be a storyboarder one day, I love seeing the process of an animation/animatic being made :DD
Same here. I'd love to do rough storyboards for stuff in the future.

Yoo how's is the dream of being a story border working for you?

An animatic of an animatic
Animatic-ception
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS! I've honestly been watching the animatic over and over, analyzing the frames and looking at it for reference on my own animatics I wanna do and seeing the roughs absolutely helps immensely! It's super interesting that just the simplest sketches can convey so much motion. May I ask what program you used? I am trying to narrow down which one may work better for my work. Thank you so much again, honestly you are a huge inspiration. Can't wait to see what you make next!!
Toonboom Storyboard Pro! It’s a great program. And thank you so much! You’re too kind haha. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
@@Shnikkels wow i looked it up and damn that is expensive
I perfectly understand if you don't want to respond because I'm just a random dumbass teenager, but whenever I make animatics I can't help animating first and getting severe burnout afterward. Do you have any advice on staying on task instead of jumping straight into animation?
Uhm, not her, but I am also a dumbass teenager who animates, I've done that so many times it hurts me :,)
My advice would be picture the final product first, then think about how you could make it better! try to remember that planning is VERY helpful ahead of time incase something doesn't fit well the way you first thought. It's a process to ease into is all I can say! Sorry if this didn't help but I tried! :D
Hahaha well, it’s definitely not a dumb question. I have the same trouble, getting ahead of myself in steps of the process. I don’t straight up animate, but it’s essentially the same problem thought process-wise. As someone who’s still trying to not do this myself, what helped me a lot in the broader sense was not looking at the whole picture too much. You gotta kinda focus in on individual parts and set a lot of short term goals without worrying about how long the entire process is gonna take. When you look at the whole thing too much, it kinda sets your brain up for burn out because you’re worrying about how long things are gonna take and how much work it’s gonna be. Just set small goals and commit to sticking to your own self imposed schedule or set of pipeline rules. I hope this helps!
@@Shnikkels are you a pro? This is definitely impressive
@@paloma4444 theyve worked on shows like steven universe!:]
This is fantastic. It hardly even feels like an 'animatic' either. Honestly if I was rich as balls I'd try to fund an actual Beetlejuice cartoon because this just INSPIRED me so much. Beautiful work... love your interpretation of all the characters too.
Oh I love Lydia's hand movements at 4:50 so much 😭
0:22 makes me laugh so hard. I love how much work you put into this and seeing the sketches are so amazing
Ever since i was a kid i was a musical daydreamer, that is to say if i found I liked, I would create characters and situations to put them through, in tandem with the music, like my own personal AMVs. My only issue was expressing them in actual animations. This is both inspiring for me to try it out and daunting because I am barely past your thumbnails in terms of skill.
Incredible!! It’s so cool to see the difference! I’d love to know more about your process and how you manage your time making the final product. Love your work!
I would love to see a video of how you make your storyboards!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to make animatics that are pleasing to look at, but also efficient time wise. I know they still take a bit, but it’s just been a curiosity of mine!
I find it way too funny that Adam is just a box guy with glasses when he’s in the distance
DANG so cool!! The camera work you do with your animatic is amazing, and you planned it out well in your early storyboarding too! It's one thing to be a good artist, another to be a good animator, and ANOTHER thing to be good at scenes and angles. This is super cool to see, thanks for showing us part of your process!!
The beginning of an era..
id pay to see this as a whole movie
Awesome, someone somewhere said you worked on Steven universe, and it clearly shows, you're a damn talented animator, your stuff is pure gold, please oh please make a Q&A!!@!!
