Good point. I went with the story-based stuff because I think that's the strongest content. But the boss decks are good too. If they release more, I may do a video featuring and ranking them.
Nice review! I appreciate your thoughts on all the available content, and pretty confirms that it’s on my short list - especially with the base game, characters packs and campaigns. Thanks!
Yes! I wonder about bloat since I really feel like the Ancestry packs add some of that. But more basic class options like Barbarian and Paladin would be fun. Even if it was just a single card swap (a barbarian is, after all, a fighter) would wrinkle things up a bit.
Honestly, I think that wasn't the biggest issue. A lot of people got into Star Realms through the app, there is still no Hero Realms app, so people see no reason why to get also into HR.
I’ve seen Shards in DT reviews but I’m still not sure about why I’d want to get it when I already have SR and HR. I really like these style of deck builders so I may need to get Shards. What does Shards of Infinity do better or that the others don’t?
@@steelman774 Besides being very well balanced it introduces two new concepts: Mercenaries and Mastery. Mercenaries are units that can either be recruited normally (added to discard-pile and drawn after next shuffle) or played immediately. Somewhat like Heroes from that Star Realms expansion, but in Shards of Infinity almost half the market-deck are Mercenaries. It allows for some marvelous combos and turn-arounds. Mastery is like XP. Some cards get better once you reach a certain Mastery level. And if you ever hit the Mastery Threshold (30 Mastery) and play your Shard of Infinity (starter-deck card), it's game over, you win. I really like that. Some games of Hero Realms would take forever, if the market was stacked with healing cards. You could regularly surpass 100 health and have games dragging out, which is not a good thing for a light deckbuilder, in my opinion. If you like Star and Hero Realms, I really think you will like this one. EDIT: Oh, and the app is amazing. It's like $8 on Steam and it's fast and reactive. I have around 30 "live" games of this with my brother, and a little over 1.100 games on the app vs Hard AI. He has ~650 wins against my ~450. What a jerk. ;)
@@AXRISTEROS I guess I’ll have to find out. I just bought the digital game for my iPad. Tom from DT gave it a 5+ out of 5 for an app adaptation and an 8.5 over all for a game. Starting the tutorial now. (Down the rabbit hole I go)
Hero Realm text size is ultra small, also like someone said below, Shard of Infinity totally kill Hero Realm, Ascension killed itself by all the extra crap that made the game worst, Star Realm still kinda good especially Frontier
That’s one thing Star Realms does way better than Hero Realms. Text/iconography on HR can be tiny or color overlapping. In this demo there was a set of cards that had in the top left corner a pile of gold coins with a gold number written on them but you could only make out the number from up close. These need to be readable from flat on the table.
Hero Realms is so good, and I’d say the character packs are essential.
Fully agree.
Since I haven’t gotten into the modular stories yet, it’s the biggest thing setting it apart from Star Realms to me.
Absolutely agree! Greetings from Spain
Good overview of most of the Hero Realms content, but you forgot about the playable boss decks:: Dragon & Lich

Me and my wife love this game. I prefer pvp, she prefers coop. I would love more classes in the game.

@@ShelfStories they could add paladin, necromancer, shaman, monk
Necromancer would be crazy easy to do. Magic has had resurrection from discard for over 20 years :)
we have more classes coming in a Kickstarter later this year! including Necromancer :)
@@WiseWizardGames I know, I am following you. Instant back. I am already allin for Hero Realms. Great game!!! Keep up!!!
Hero Realms just didn't have enough content quick enough

Hey like to see you here at DT. Also see your stuff at one stop coop.
Thank you!
I used to really like Hero Realms. But Shards of Infinity completely killed Hero Realms, Star Realms and Ascension for me.

Wait, what, H-word? Tolkien estate is literally going after people UTTERING 'halfling' on YT? That's quite insane...

All the space on the card and look at those tiny font, no thanks pass
