Yes! It's frustrating we can't get disney stuff on dvd. 😑 Like we still don't have volume 3 of Darkwing Duck or the rest the Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers series on dvd.

It’s strange, albeit awfully convient, that Season 4 and 5 of SpongeBob were still released on complete 3-disc sets in regions 2 and 4. And I don’t think we ever had the infamous box controversy with The Simpsons sets down here, at least not by the time my family started collecting them in 2009. I’d always wanted a set of Phineas and Ferb boxsets, since Disney was notoriously much more restrictive in releasing their TV shows on DVD, but it’s all too convient to have the whole series (and hundreds of others) on any given streaming service. Still, they should still have more customised menus for each show and more extensive bonus features. Paramount+ isn’t worth the money until they add the deleted scene from the first SpongeBob movie where Patrick vomits for 10 seconds.
the original Rugrats DVDs were actually DVD-R discs that were made on-demand, and were much more low quality. Anything is better than the burn-on discs, especially since shows like Chalk Zone and Doug have only been released this way
I have the Collector's Edition of Sonic Underground, and let me just say that it went HARD on presentation. Foil embossed slipcovers, behind-the-scenes, a feature just for playing the music videos back-to-back (called "Concert Mode"), and animated rock concert style menus. It's up scaling is remarkably crisp and looks way too good to have been the original format. The only thing bad that I have to say is that it has absolutely no caption encoding, which sucks because I need captions on account of my ADHD, so I have to play at boosted volume

@@ExtremeWreck I'd say VHS ran as long as expected. DVDs were first released in the United States in 1997, but DVD players were super expensive at the time. It was only in 2002/2003 when DVD overtook VHS (mainly due to DVD players becoming more affordable by then, plus the PS2 having a built in DVD player) and the last movie released on VHS was in 2006.
I remember owning a Teletubbies DVD, mine happened to be distributed by Warner Home Video. Also I remember getting a DVD of the Nickelodeon Penguins of Madagascar show and sitting through the credits which were always put together at the end.
I had a DVD for spongebob which only had like 6 episodes on it. The Night Shift, and the Magic Conch were two episodes on it that I remember. The main menu would just play segments of each episodes on loop. As a kid I was obsessed with spunchbob, so I would just watch those 6 episodes on repeat all day, cause it was all I had.
I find it interesting how simple SpongeBob DVDS will be rereleased with slight updates to the artwork. Or the infamous Homer head replacement program for season six. Excited to watch this video.
I’m thinking they’re going to remove the episode of spongebob that got removed on streaming services so that only the old dvd copies of that episode will survive. I’m actually sort of mad.
There’s something about dvds (especially the ones from the early 2000s) that I’ll always love. Even though we have streaming services now I still enjoy them for the unique box art or the bonus features and deleted scenes. I grew up without many tv channels so dvds were really all I had and many of them were either pirated or just compilations of old cartoons. I always made sure to take extra care of any official releases I had.
When I was a kid I was a massive sucker for the old animated mario cartoons, and there was no such thing as streaming services back then. There was teh internet, but I was a dumb kid that could barely find 1 or 2 episodes on youtube. I had to rely soley on the dvds, but I could never find full seasons. They were almost always compilation dvds with either various episodes from that series, or a mish mash of episodes from the several different series. Also, despite several of these dvds having episodes of the super mario super show, several didnt even have the live action skits that would happen before and after every episode. I gave away most of my other dvds, but I still have this one dvd of the adventures of super mario bros 3, called "the trouble with koopas" or something, and its just a mix of various episodes. Of course, later on we eventually got netflix and I was able to watch the super mario super show complete with the weird skits. Now-a-days I could care less for dvd copies as I have no need for them, and collecting them is both expensive and confusing.
Additionally, WildBrain has uploaded the full series to UA-cam (including the live-action segments). They have done that with many other shows made by DiC such as Inspector Gadget and The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog.
@@mayhair Do they have that with the _Extreme Dinosaurs_ animated T.V. series??? Oh boy I've waited so long for the sequel to your last DVD video!!! What a nice time to be alive! Also, I see comments talking about how good Nickelodeon treats his cartoons on DVD releases, but here in Latin America, there is nothing on DVD of Nickelodeon (just Spongebob at the best case), it's terribly sad because the only way to watch old Nicktoons is on streaming (but even streaming services don't have all the seasons, at the very least two of SB of FOP), and also some streaming services have for example, Avatar, but another has Hey Arnold, and other has Cat dog, it's so bad!
The Animaniacs had some DVDs released as well. Volume 4 strangely took way too long to release, around until 2013, as the last volume, Volume 3, was released in 2007. The original show was rereleased for the 25th Anniversary of the show in the form of the Complete Collection, containing all 4 volumes of the show, plus the direct to video movie Wakko's Wish. Apparently the film was released a second time on DVD, but the original show was released on DVD 5 times. The 2020 show has been released on DVD as well, but we might have to wait for the final season to be released on DVD, likely in September, but the 2020 show was released on Digital Platforms.
I find it weird that after all these years, Nick or Paramount or anyone in charge with stock images don’t update the old stock look to the newer style… it’s literally redrawing the same thing in HD and I fear when the world ends, Squidward will look upon us smugly in all his 240p power
I actually own the adventure time and friends dvd lol also fun fact: every ncircle trailer for DiC cartoons are just the intro, not just sonic underground, the ones I remember were heathcliff, Carmen Santiago, the wacky world of Tex Avery, and others
I find it funny how on the SpongeBob DvD, Mr. Krabs looks the exact same just with the more polished lighting, but SpongeBob’s model was completely changed into his emotionless, mute, stock happy smile, bland model from seasons 6 to 8.
I got Wizard of Oz DVD from 2013, which is just a repackaged version of a 2008 DVD, which has the extras as the 2005 DVD except the deleted scenes and outakes. Also, there's like 5 different versions of Shrek on DVD. I was originally going to comment about that, but it'll take me 10 times longer to type.
Surprising that how DVDs still manages to exist amongst with all these streaming services around. Like cockroaches, it's resilient and refuses to die off.
Once I was at a Zia records exchange and I got the Super Mario Bros 3 complete series from shout factory for $12. I still have it and for some reason its over $50 or more. Too bad they don't have a complete series set of the Mario Super Show, some dvd releases have some live action scenes cut.
17:16 I don't have a problem with characters with shades. It helps them feel realistic. But they really need to keep them more akin to the actual series sometimes.
All of my experiences with cartoon DVDs back in the day were via bootlegs... some even were of TV recordings. Yeah, only saw the legit ones in stores. Edit: loved that Kid Leaves Stoop cameo!
What I don’t understand about Nickelodeon, Disney, etc. is when they release something, the cover art is so obnoxiously pastel that does not actually portray the actual colors of the animation. Everyone’s eyes are also unusually shiny and reflective.
The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 was by far my most favorite of all the Mario cartoons they made. It deserved more episodes. Anyway I have those DVD sets, got them for my son when he was really into Mario as a younger kid and I enjoyed watching them with him just as much as I enjoyed them as a kid myself.
Lemme just say, that Gravity Falls Blu-ray set is *killer*. It exists on Blu-ray, for one, and I keep my collection exclusively Blu-ray and 4K. That set has everything you could ever want for the show. All the episodes, tons of bonus content and secrets, and even a replica of the letter from the finale. Side note: this is the last video I expected to get Weezered in but, as a fan, I can't say I'm upset.
I actually have 3 N-Circle compilation DVDs,one for The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3( the trouble with koopas)(it contains the context behind that clip),one for Sonic Underground(the search for Queen elina),& one for Sonic The Hedgehog/Sonic SATAM(the fight for freedom). (11:09), (11:57),&(11:59)
They likely had some extras that were unsold from 15 years ago lying around in a warehouse somewhere so they decided to rerelease them without giving them new box art or new ads and only gave them a new slip cover and called it a day.
@@Kingmathias25 That's something I wonder because, what if you run out of those old copies yet there's still demand for more DVDs? Or by then would the copies floating around in the wild be enough to satiate that?
I have a Garfield & Friends DVD that centers around the more horror themed episodes, no US Acres episodes too and the box came with a little plush of Pooky.
I own Super Mario cartoons DVDs, Spongebob Seasons 1-5, Gravity Falls and Hey Arnold full collections, Simpsons Seasons 1-10, iCarly, Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo Season 1, The Fairly OddParents, Scooby-Doo series, and Arthur.
The only Spongebob DVD I currently own is the one that the Something Smells plush doll came with. The Spongebob Sundaepants doll is no longer around in my family's household. The DVD advertises that there's a special limited collector card inside the DVD case, but that's probably also gone as well.
"And now you can have semi-reliable outlets where you can watch hundreds of series without having to worry about them leaving the platform." ...Wow. That aged like milk.
We need more of these dvd history videos! The only shows I have on dvd are cobra Kai seasons 1 and 2, dragon ball z kai season 1, and parks and recreation season 3. I also have the complete series of community and parks and recreation on Blu-ray.
On the "reusing artwork" thing for SpongeBob, here's a related gripe: The original CD release of Cowboys From Hell, by notable SpongeBob guest musicians PANTERA (whammy bar noises) has the same image on the back of the CD case, the back of the booklet, is on the CD itself, and is also the cover to a VHS tape
N Circle did yet another release for Super Mario Bros. 3, and not only are the menus bland, but it had Yoshi on the back cover when he wasn’t even in the show at the time.
8:15 Mill Creek Entertainment also did it with their other Cookie Jar Entertainment DVDs. For example: The Busy World of Richard Scarry DVD "It's a Busy, Busy Day!" is basically just disc 1 of the "Everyday There's Something New!" DVD albeit with different packaging and the "Good Times Never End!" is, again, basically just disc 1 of the "Fun in Busytown" DVD albeit with different packaging. After you mentioned that sentence, I looked at the other Mill Creek/Cookie Jar DVD menus on UA-cam to see if they did the same and yep, they did. I live in the UK so I don't have any Mill Creek/Cookie Jar DVDs. Also why are the Susan and Mary PNGs at 8:17 are so wide?
I personally love the Conplete Season SpongeBob sets! Not only for their uniformal look which looks excellent on a shelf together, but also how they're all still readily available for VERY affordable prices even today! However yes the lack of an episode list on the back of the newer ones was a VERY bizarre decision that doesn't make sense to me
I remember having a super mario bros supershow dvd when I was little, I remember it having an episode of princess peach turning into a baby but that’s about it
I still find it amusing they have used the same stock images in like 90% of Spongebob merch. You can still see the same images on merch from 2021 as you did in 2001. They will still be around long after the Heat Death

6:27 It took them awhile, but they finally did it!
18:42 this aged very poorly
These videos are very intricate dives into this medium and I really appreciate them!
I find it funny how on the SpongeBob DvD, Mr. Krabs looks the exact same just with the more polished lighting, but SpongeBob’s model was completely changed into his emotionless, mute, stock happy smile, bland model from seasons 6 to 8.
Nick's videos are oddly chill and I love that. It makes my day good
Finally a sequel to one of your masterpieces. Oh heck all your videos are master pieces
I would love to see you do a DVD comparison in the same way VWestlife does for CDs.
18:42
Well that aged... Fantastically
*looks up the Futurama box arts*
They did NOT need to go all out on it, but I'm glad they did.
Once I was at a Zia records exchange and I got the Super Mario Bros 3 complete series from shout factory for $12. I still have it and for some reason its over $50 or more. Too bad they don't have a complete series set of the Mario Super Show, some dvd releases have some live action scenes cut.
Now there is a good sponsorship thank you very much I will get one of these galaxy lamps.
7:25 I sure do love Adventure Time and all of his friends!
I saw this in my subscriptions and made the face Squidward made when Sandy announced that SpongeBob had gone missing.
Woo-hoo! The long-awaited sequel to my favorite video of yours!
I love how NICKtendo’s audio keeps changing, it’s like he doesn’t care of it’s changing. (Just like it’s thumbnails)
Man I love these types of videos, I'd love for a video with an updated collection!
What I don’t understand about Nickelodeon, Disney, etc. is when they release something, the cover art is so obnoxiously pastel that does not actually portray the actual colors of the animation. Everyone’s eyes are also unusually shiny and reflective.
Are you talking about just the newer releases or every release of a 2D animated movie/show in general?
I love niche topic video essays like this, and this one kept me going, "wha-" as I watched. Well done!
R.I.P. Walker Boone (The voice of Mario in AOSMB3 and SMW)
0:03 *MY MO-*
Oh- a nickel!
LUCKY! 🟨🟡🟨🟡🟨
I'm not sure how I never came across your channel before, but I'm glad I'm here now.
NICKtendo is an awesome name, I love it.
Subscribed.
I made this comment before you went into the name of the channel in this episode and you were right, it's not what I thought it was. LOL
I don't understand, wouldn't they save money by not reprinting the 15 year old ads in the Cartoon Network DVD rereleases?
They likely had some extras that were unsold from 15 years ago lying around in a warehouse somewhere so they decided to rerelease them without giving them new box art or new ads and only gave them a new slip cover and called it a day.
@@Kingmathias25 That's something I wonder because, what if you run out of those old copies yet there's still demand for more DVDs? Or by then would the copies floating around in the wild be enough to satiate that?
Complete 3rd Season [the one with the group characters] of Spongebob was my childhood, so seeing it again reminds me of the past.
I remember playing one of the Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 DVDs so much that it stopped working at one point.
Thats nice
"And now you can have semi-reliable outlets where you can watch hundreds of series without having to worry about them leaving the platform."
...Wow. That aged like milk.
Did you mishear the “semi-reliable” part
@@NICKtendoReviews Now that you pointed it..
We need more of these dvd history videos! The only shows I have on dvd are cobra Kai seasons 1 and 2, dragon ball z kai season 1, and parks and recreation season 3. I also have the complete series of community and parks and recreation on Blu-ray.
I Glad Someone Agrees With Me About The Chipmunks
9:30 Ha I like how you pointed out Face-Off on the Red Box rental.
On the "reusing artwork" thing for SpongeBob, here's a related gripe:
The original CD release of Cowboys From Hell, by notable SpongeBob guest musicians PANTERA (whammy bar noises) has the same image on the back of the CD case, the back of the booklet, is on the CD itself, and is also the cover to a VHS tape
I like your DVD videos. They're pretty interesting. Also, I'm glad you still have Nascar Shrek in your videos.
N Circle did yet another release for Super Mario Bros. 3, and not only are the menus bland, but it had Yoshi on the back cover when he wasn’t even in the show at the time.
WHEN PART 3!!!!!!!!!??????
Johnny test has a season 1-5 dvd but season 6 was only avaliable digital and now is not anymore so you can never get the full series
Awesome ending music. Anchovy Assault
i know the context of that original clip, and I'm not sorry. super mario solved racism.
And we all learned a valuable lesson… we are not mushrooms
Now this is some good content
The Futurama Complete Series box-set in the UK doesn't have the four movies in it.
I personally love the Conplete Season SpongeBob sets! Not only for their uniformal look which looks excellent on a shelf together, but also how they're all still readily available for VERY affordable prices even today!
However yes the lack of an episode list on the back of the newer ones was a VERY bizarre decision that doesn't make sense to me
This is a pretty interesting topic not gonna lie
I remember having a super mario bros supershow dvd when I was little, I remember it having an episode of princess peach turning into a baby but that’s about it
the ad in this video might as well been one of those ads you see under big tweets lol
The absolute worst dvd designs are the ones where the character is on a solid colored background and that's it.
Nick 2008-2014 sitcom dvds do be like that, slapping a stock image of the char with a weird looking colored background
" let the fairly odd parents live action happen." Oh so this is how we got in the darkest timeline
18:40
Ooooffff…that dated badly.
Regular Show needs a complete box set
There's one in Australia
@@DJKrimskull Minus that one. I meant for USA. Adventure Time got one, even though Regular Show ended first.
Hopefully we get one soon enough i heard about music right issues with s4-final
Ed Edd n Eddy needs one
You know who also needs a complete box set
My mom
10:25 This music gives me so much nostalgia, I loved the smb3 show when I was little
Hello there, I’m the one guy who owns all the Mario dvds, the context for the clip is.
The Mario episode about racism
I still find it amusing they have used the same stock images in like 90% of Spongebob merch. You can still see the same images on merch from 2021 as you did in 2001. They will still be around long after the Heat Death
Ah. A remake of my legit favourite nicktendo video.
Yess! A sequel to my favourite video of yours!
If only my show would get a complete series DVD or Blu-ray release....
I remembered using to own Spongebob and Dora VHS tapes
That Supermario series was what nightmares are made off.
