- Drew and Tee find a heavy-duty surprise at a magnificent country house in Scotland. In Edinburgh, the chaps visit a former veterinary college turned arts centre.
Drew Pritchard, the owner of one of the UK's largest decorative salvage yards, is always on the lookout for new items to replenish his stock, and he has no qualms about scouring the countryside for them. This series follows Drew as he searches for old and lost pieces of history throughout the world, including some opulent estates. But locating them is only half the battle; Drew must persuade the owner of each object to sell it to him for a good price, and then it's off to the scrap yard, where his team restores it to its former glory before selling it for profit.

Just found this - hands down far more enjoyable than the wacky American pickers shows. Far more interesting antiques & homes as well - thanks !
That castle is …wow
Made of silver ???!!! What a stairway … spectacular
The owner snookered Drew for an extra 100£ on that sofa 🛋 ... 😞
Imagine polishing that handrail!
I've discovered Drew Pritchard designed sofas at Barker and Stonehouse. I've been looking at bland, awkward, cheap looking sofas in the us for a year or two. When I found Drew's sofas, I fell smack dab in love with the Durant. Unfortunately, I will have to move to Europe to possess one since they aren't sold over here. So sad but so glad someone out there gets design like Drew does. I follow all Drew's shows, I think I've watched mostly all of them, including the restorers series which I watch over and over and just love. Just wanted to publicly lament that I can't own that sofa. I'm not through pouting about it. Judy
I love this show I have watched all of the series over and over and I love the restoration series
there's a restoration series?
the barber shop pieces are amazing!! the 2 Drew bought sight unseen where better than the first one, in my humble opinion. As always thanks so much from the USA. I'm over the moon:)
Lord Palmer with his clipboard, the gorgeous Great Danes, & that garden. Wow!
So what happened to the ornate bottom border for the mirror?
What a wonderful visit within the Lord's residence to experience the home's extraordinary history. What is a lovely balance of fitting architecture, decor, and the grandeur is it's simplicity that marks a very fine taste. How easy to live among these rooms. Some wealth of their day have interiors that repeat of periods or pretentiousness of personal tastes that crowds the space. Truly a heart of a home that the is cared and lovingly appreciated. Thank you. I feel privileged to have a peek.
Yeah! Wow on the radiator set and the gold mirror.
I like to hear Rebecca's assessment of Drew's finds.
The rooms have a majestic opulence in entering them, with eyes wide open with entertainment. As an American, I view these videos to learn.
That mirror looks unrestored wonderful. I used to give away gilded hollowed out real walnuts as christmas gifts for tree hanging and what I noticed as a kid was that as they aged with use the gold would wane so what i thought was that if people spend good money on picture frames with the red emerging then why not start off the painting of the walnut shells with red paint so that you could tell what had already been gilded. As the red emerged you could enjoy the effect of reguild them. A friend some twenty years later commented that each holiday he really liked bringing out the walnuts and he never tired of their look. His visitors would ask him where did he find them. By that time I was finding them as antiques made of very thin glass people began to ask me about them and i said you find them only if you are very lucky or pay through the nose for them because years ago antique christmas ornaments are very expensive. I then started to dry out citrus fruit guilding them. Sometimes you can find what people dried out long ago but it is far easier to ornament citrus than walnuts. Worms and moths always emerge from the walnuts regardless how much de-insecting you do. Insects are never a problem with citrus because they are acidic.
I don't think a 1950's barber painting would have a Nike swoosh on it! LOL
Lord Palmer looks ill, very unwell. I'd hate to find out what ails him. That stair bannister - made of silver??? Can't help but think - what a waste of money. Beautiful though. The whole place is beautiful, actually - breathtaking. I'd like to know how these particular purchases turned out
I would call that the "Artery" Mirror!
The vet school was a fun tour and great barbershop signs!
If only my time was 30 yrs earlier with technology and what I could learn about what things went for elsewhere. I would have started buying my cooking equipment earlier. But I have already done my bit of traveling and collecting and am on the downwardside of life enjoying things.
Interesting that the architects would use designs inspired from animal bones in these high end houses. Jefferson designed some of his Montecello wall decorations from Palladio's Four Books. They would make them out of paper mache. When Jefferson returned As US Ambassador to the French Court in Paris, a quantity of shredded paper in the 86 crates of what he brought back with him. For some reason there is no record of he selling it off after use to papermakers in Philadelphia, NYC, Boston, DC or even reused at Monticello? What I was also surprised to learn was that despite the regard peple would make in comments about food served by Jefferson following his time in Europe not one piece of food cooking equipment survives. At least they know how his "heat" points looked like in the kitchen in order to cook the different types of food with an appropriate heat.
Speaking of "salvage": couldn't some of that silk upholstery be salvaged, and at least amount to a lumbar pillow or two? Hated to hear it ripping off the window seat.
As easily as it was ripping, I'd say it was a goner, unfortunately as it was gorgeous!
Probably too old.
Hope the mirror doesn't slip and smash while you're having your tea. The mansion at the beginning, wow, it's not a Castle, why are people calling it a castle ?
Is a fake castle not a castle? A fake one, to be sure, just as it might have been a four-turreted castle or a green one.
I really would have liked to see that lantern after restoration, but nice buys!
all these owners are such characters...
A beautiful and very impressive presentation. I wish you success in your work and success. Accept my greetings.
Skimping with the brass handrail, think he could have managed a wee but of 7 carat gold. At the end of the day its a modernish folly and an expensive one at that, full of folly furnishings.
The pattern shape on those radiators looks like all it takes to achieve is a round tube that has been pressed in a different directtion?
The staff probably thought ringing the bells was annoying and an emergency ie: fire.
I think Lord Palmer might invite you back ..... some people ya just don't haggle with ....
OMG!!!! BEAUTIFUL!
B'Less the Serpent People! LOL
The next Generation of Hatchlings! LOL
Did Drew ever realise that the 3 shop letters can spell VIS, which means fish in Dutch (and Flemish) and that fishmongers from the Low Countries might be very interested?
Mr. Pickering sounds remarkably like the late film director Orson Wells.
Is that a "usual" amount of ice? When I did my semester abroad in London in the late 80s we would get one ice cube in our drink. When I wanted to child some chmpaigne in Sheffield there was no ice to be found in any shop so I filled the bathtub with cold faucet water and floated them. Good as refrigeration. That experience got me used to drinking from the container coca cola bought in the states from the grocery shops that usually would have the AC set at 63F. What I noticed that swigs from the grocery were usually much smaller than the long drawn out supper chilled soda pop dispensed at the fast food shops. The colder it was the deadened the chill would make the tongue to the carbonation. A two litre bottle might at grocery store chil last me a week whereas I could go through two litres refill at the fast food shops in one sitting. So when i take my pills I keep a room temp bottle in the bedroom so that the chaulky pills do stick to my tonsils when the carbonation makes my mouth water a bit. If i drink noncarbonized water those chaulky pills end up sticking.
The sculptural aspect of the stools is 'buttonomony'.🙊😃
Histology is the microscopic study of tissue.
Dew, have beautiful PV544
Used to watch this series years ago and am shocked how stingy Drew has gotten with his bids. He used to seem so honest but I think greed has crept in somewhere
Im never first till now. Great show
Can we have more please 🙏
"Minor restoration" A quick wipe.
Already saw this episode on another UA-cam channel a while back…….
Why did she say that it’s prohibited to get the glass blown for the street lamp?? Anyone know?
She said prohibitive. Meaning the cost of doing it would be far too high.
He who has no past has no future
Don´t know whether it´s relevant here - but I like it1
The BBC didn't provide a list of illustrious veterinary graduates from the college?
Don’t touch the handrail.
Why?
@@1516Spinola6040 So you didn’t even watch the video?
@@catofthecastle1681 I did. So why?
@@1516Spinola6040 M M means the silver staircase one.
I would have touched it just to bug him. He also lied about the price offers for the window bed.
They never mentioned Duns famous son especially as he loves cars.
The letter V-I-S spell 'Fisch' in Dutch.
❤❤❤
Why is Tee so quiet?
Histology...blood?
Why am I paying for UA-cam premium if I’m still going to see ads?
I'm not paying and I don't see ads - are you being scammed?

omg what a liar!!! he never said 450!
Can't blame the old chap though, he knew he could squeeze an extra bt, and these land lords tend to be asset rich, cash poor. Just imagine the cost of maintenance on such a building.
@@raiseyourworld5324 he could make a counter offer and not simply lie! Disgusting
Upright and honest to a fault are qualities many are not interested in today, sadly.
Yeah, lets drive all around the country, make costs for sleep, eat, petrol, o,,forgot almost lets buy a few things. Not profitable at all, just for the show!
Fresh??????? NOT
Cryptic comment. Stale? Last Tuesday,
BLAH..BONE SOUP
Sorry, but what a snobbish man.
Wooden stools worth GBP 80 each, he offers 25.- // Just goes to show how he doesn't say what kind of profit he gets on other "deals" ... He's ALWAYS making more than triple what he pays (and most of the time there is NO restoration).
Paintings worth 500 a piece - He haggles and offers 350 for 3 ....
The man is a crook.
Yea dodgy dealer the restoration prices are bs prob about 20 quid but can't be seen ripping people off.
@@balance3201 Thats at least what it looks like. Glueing and screwing and sticking nails that are covered up with paint isn't a true antique dealer's way of "Restoring" as he calls it.
He makes the chairs ad stuff safe to sit on, NOT retore. Same with all the rest. MAkes it LOOK ok, but it's mostly ruined as an antique.
The figures given in the show are the profit he thinks he'll make - NOT what he thinks what it'll cost him to "jig up".
What a stupid stupid comment! He´s a dealer. He buys as cheaply as pos. and sells as high as pos.. That´s what dealers do all over the world.
Jealous is why.
