Thank you Lynn for airing this episode. Yesterday I had only 2 days to decide if I should stay with my kid(am jobless and struggling) or give full custody. to my baby daddy.,Started praying and honestly this morning, I already hv the answer.. I'll live with my kid. God bless you.
If the baby daddy can provide better for the kid, give him custody for now as you stabilize. No need to include your baby in your struggles when the man you had the child with is willing to take responsibility. Already it seems like the child has to either have the daddy or the mommy, which is not any ideal for healthy growth and development
I wonder whether any one of us, Lynn royalists, realise that her shows are actually therapeutic in their own right. Each show heals many people, even as many never realise the power of talk therapy. In a counselling course, we are trained that allowing a client to vent even the entire one hour session in itself is healing. Healing starts from opening up and sharing. Maybe to help us reflect as we process this show content, please remember that yesterday does not define your future, but the decisions and choices you make on the here-and-now(today) has a direct impact on the life you intend to live tomorrow. Choose wisely, guys. Lynn, may you forever reap big as the blessings of your good work galore from the world over. It's His grace all the way for you, our Kenyan queen of 💕
I am a teacher counsellor and this story/conversation especially her life at high school is what i keep telling colleagues to understand about a child who appears defiant, rebellious, extraordinary courage. They are broken from inside but putting a rough skin around them.If well understood they are dealing with trauma but there's a jewel within.Thank you Lynn and Debra
I met Debs at the UN and we spoke about our respective journey. As a Jamaican we connected as if we knew each other a long time ago. What a woman. I just love her. ❤️. I am writing my own and I understand her pain. It is so difficult 😢
This lady has reminded me about a personal research I started in high school. I started asking all the 'stubborn' friends about their childhood...and lots of them were dealing with childhood traumas
"He was not the perfect guy but he was the present Dad..." Powerful statement of fact. Thanks for the guest Lynn. Guys, are you listening to these snippets of wisdom relayed so authoritatively by a beautiful daughter on Lynn's show? What are you learning this morning about purpose? What is your experience in your life journey? Who brought you up and what challenges did you face while growing up? Guys, this is the "LOVE SILK" , Real life story told from a daughter on her memoirs with a Dad that never was, but a father that chose to be there for them. He was a great father. Can you relate your story with Deborah's and take a moment to process it?? Not all fathers are absent by choice and not all fathers are bad guys. Each one of us is an individual. Never judge a person by the circumstances they place you on but take time to figure out why. We have children that can go through stuff. We have children brought up by a single mother/father that often find themselves in awkward situations(entangled in between the two parents) and many atimes they end up condemning either of them. This episodes speaks to hope for such children that the future is not defined by the ugly scenes that you witness during child development years.Stay focused to your destiny like Deborah did. This also demonstrates that one can thrive regardless of the challenges they faced as children. Lastly, the father that is there for you is better than the blood-father that never was. Never take a lot of time to look for a mother and or a father that was never there in the first place. When above 18yrs, please strive to enhance your mental wellness than worrying about people that might not help you shape your destiny. The life you are going to live is all about your own peace and mental wellness. I encourage those who are still broken from their past experience to find closure in such kind of wisdom as this, then move on. Not easy, but doable.
Thank you Lynn for this conversation, wishing this lady healing and God’s grace. I found out on Facebook my biological father died. This man never acknowledged me since birth. He went on to have another family and they never knew of my existence when he was alive. This man I found out denied of my existence even on his death bed. I hated that I grieved for him and now his adult children want a relationship with me.I understood at a young age that God is my father and truly He has blessed me in every way.
I love Debbie, this woman is so selfless or maybe her story is my untold story. The fact that she also replies to even the silliest DMs, bless you Debbie ❤
Wow! So you are a Moi Geean 🥳I admire this lady Tendo Nyar Overseas. She is such a good storyteller & offers sound advice via her Facebook posts. Much love ❤❤
How i wish my dad was present for me,i call him sometimes he picks up my calls sometimes he does not but somehow i just crave for his love. My mom says chances of her getting married to my dad were 0% because he is Kalenjin( Nandi) and my mom is Tanzanian so dad had to get married to a woman from his tribe and he got two children with her. But now after growing up somehow i just wish i also had his love. Atleast he picks up my calls sometimes, i had to move to Tanzania with my mom but i still wish to see him someday. Every parent holds a very special place in their child's life. And these traumas are hard to heal it's only by God's grace we keep going.
Thank you Lynn,i know Deb back then as a Young girl, together with her late mum and her late dad .I'm happy to see she grew up to be such a vibrant girl.May God continue to bless her.
she is sooooooooo beautiful my God bold, brave, I have listened to her for 20mins and I love her already. she is blessed. Thanks Lynn for all this empowering stories
Tuned in .The show is good kwanza hapo kwa parents that appear once and disappear,I wish they knew how painful it is when they appear with no support at all.
My father made so many sacrifices for us 5 children to have a chance at life, he taught me honesty, self respect, honour, hard work, discipline, pride and having dignity. Private schools were paid even though he was teacher…Uni was paid, he was home by 5pm & through the weekends, visiting our schools weekly, It was not always rosy but I choose to pick the best of what he gave, long live dad, I never knew people slept hungry till my 30’s .. as a mother I wanted my girls to have that father daughter bond in Co-operating against all odds.
this stories teaches us that there is still good people, live life like there is any other tomorrow, take kids in whenever you can love orphans , love neighbour's , do not abort children , the lord still reigns .
I was rejected by my parents after they had separated, things haven't been easy but listening to Debs story I'm a really different person, may we be healed
Most children do bury their pain through books. As an adolescent books helped me address most of the struggles and challenges i faced. And today i spend time helping children to read and communities to set up community based libraries. Reading is power.
What a story 😢 I could somehow relate... after years of not being raised by my dad and mum and been brought up by grandparents and aunts and uncles With all the mistreatment yet they were both alive And up to date I'm all grown up but we have never fully bonded... the tromour of it all
Pole sana.. we live in an era where broken families are a norm and children bear all the brunt. Hope we will do our best to correct that in our own capacities
I love the sacrifice of that Dad. Being present.... Thumbs up. It's what many are giving up on. Let us be present for our children parents. It's the best gift we can give them ❤
Thanks Lynn for wonderful show..as long as you were born don't act a victim..Thank God and move on.. don't let other peoples mistakes enslave you.. Enjoy life to the fullest...
Thank you so much Lynn for hosting Deb. Thank you Deb for sharing your story, i see myself in it in many parts. I had an amazing biological dad and a wonderful lovely caring mom who was not my biological mother. I have the book and i havent read it yet but i will soon. Many blessings to all of you
This was a profound story. I know Deb and we worked together at some point and just finding out she went through so much yet managed to put a strong and confident face is incredible. Shine on Deb, your dad must be proud and watches over you from above ❤.
What a beautiful lady with such a resilient spirit. Must get the book!! We do not get to give flowers when we are alive...not at the graveside, when we can neither hear or see, we give boquets but they are too late. Lets learn to give credit when its appreciated. Say l "loveyou" more often, "hug"...etc.....
The part where she met her mum at the age of ten got me,I also met my biological mum at the age of ten and to be honest nothing changed my feelings into her😢,I pray that one day i sit in this seat and pour my heart out
❤congratulations 🎊 Lynn and debby for this expose of Debs life ...we all have traumatic and very happy memories,,one day I will share my experience too😢
True Deb .A biological father can reject his biological children. The one that steps in to be a functional father is the real dad. Fathers, please know that when you reject your children, it hurts forever and it cannot be undone. A void is left in their lives. I salute your father for honouring his decision to love you even though he knew you were not his child.
I am really amazed with her synergy in turning the dark side of her live to make a good story by appreciating the facts that a person is not defined by their past
As a South African watcher of Lynn channel, I just watched her interview with author of Tough Silk by Deborah A. Tendo. Interesting interview as always. Wonder how do we get the book in South Africa.Wonder how much it will cost to order in South African Rand. But your stories of your guests are interesting, sad and educative. Keep it up Lynn Ngugi
We know there are rich parents out there who provide everything to their kids but never present in their lives, ... nowadays most househelps are the present "parents" for many kids .

I was waiting for this interview since Rough Silk came out and Gabriel Oguda gave such a glowing praise for the book. Now I am hearing everything from the girl herself. Congratulations Debra,🎉
You should not blame your mother... I was brought kwa nyumba ndogo and trust me i wouldn't wish that for any child. Am a single mother of two, i have put a pose to my life for them, am not introducing any other man in their life, aa. I won't lie, this road os being a single parent is not easy however, i won't gamble the peace that comes with it. To my fellow women out there, lets be there for our little ones... Big up to us who have choose our children and #YesWeCan! Keep pressing mama's❤
This is an excellent read. It has opened wounds from my past, however, it has healed me to appreciate my parents in as much as they have gone to rest, family, and friends.
Keep Shining Deb I love your story and how you captivate the reader from the first page to the last! This book needs space in our literature syllabus i could relate to everything in the book it is a gem Rough Silk to the world!
That's too much for one girl. She's beautiful and brilliant 👏 ❤️ and some truths having gone to the Grave without resolve wee! Am sure by the time finished writing you felt relieved of pain.
I bought the book after watching this interview. Such an interesting love story of father and daughter and so relatable in terms of places, culture etc
Thank Lynn for bringing wonderful people that share their stories with us. Most of them are therapeutic to us. Most of us from broken families found a home in Mukumu girls'. God bless the Catholic Church for rescuing us. Debby, stay strong. Always go through the " Desiderata". This World is beautiful!!
I thought it was normal for kids to have present dads until I went to highschool and college..That's where I saw my dads efforts and I'm glad I got to thank him for always being there.
Now I know why I have lived to love my dad despite all. Lynn, we live to see ourselves in other people's stories. We live to shout and say, Surely goodness and mercy follow us.....
I met Deborah during the Ladies gala dinner that support reading culture and i loved her story, She brings out an aura of strength. Her untold story is worth grabbing her book and reading ''Rough silk''
When watching this episode with my 10yrs daughter i asked her if i tell somebody u re not my daughter in ur presence how will u feel? She told me very bad then i knew how deborah u feeled when ur mum told ur stepdad u a her sister's daughter sorry babygirl
@@bellaolum9768. I don't mean anything to hurt your feelings. All I was trying to express myself was to be very careful how to handle our families cause at some point it might come out.
Deborah you are touching key topics the power of books and how domestic violence affects children. I will get some copies for our libraries. Hope there is a link on how to reach Debs
A man with a beautiful heart despite his weaknesses. He committed completely to being your parent even better than your true parent. I see now that that is the silk in him.
Why do i see like she resembles her dad, is she sure that whatever her mum said about her biological father is true? may be she did that to try and break the father, daughter bond out of malice and knowing that she had completely lost a chance to have such a beautiful bond..
Ooh my God This feels like my story The only difference is my dad is my biological dad Congratulations to my dad ,,,tat great man n many single dad's out there God bless them
"He was not the perfect guy but he was the present Dad" Lots of lessons to draw , as a Ugandan I'm sorry for what the real dad abandoning them but grateful to God that she was able to overcome. Tendo you are an extra ordinary human that is destined to impact souls through your story
This is very very deep. PARENTS who are absent in the childhood years become disconnected to their children emotionally and psychologically. When death occurs you can view the body and feel absolutely nothing. No emotions.
What an inspiration? A true rough silk story to inspire the world. It does matter what your background is if your focus you will succeed. I loved this. Thx team Lynn. ❤

No Phillip. I see the Mom very clearly, but I chose to comment on the dad. You could comment on the mom😊
@@ruthsande250 Commenting from your point of hurt.. I see. No problem with me. It's your take of life.😃
Well in, Tendo. This is going to be the highest viewed on the channel.

Put your heart into something don't look at what everyone is doing ask your self what can i do because everyone's story matters
What a profound story🎉waa... Deborah is blessed!
thanks for the touching story single parents go thorough so much but despite the struggle there is light at the end of the tunnel
I met Deborah during the Ladies gala dinner that support reading culture and i loved her story, She brings out an aura of strength. Her untold story is worth grabbing her book and reading ''Rough silk''
I am beginning to understand you Deb.We were in the same high school and I think you were never understood.
When watching this episode with my 10yrs daughter i asked her if i tell somebody u re not my daughter in ur presence how will u feel? She told me very bad then i knew how deborah u feeled when ur mum told ur stepdad u a her sister's daughter sorry babygirl
God have mercy on humanity. These women are about to expose every little secret.
And what secrets do you think she exposed? Let people own their stories the best way they know how.
What's wrong with that? She is sharing her life not yours!
@@bellaolum9768. I don't mean anything to hurt your feelings. All I was trying to express myself was to be very careful how to handle our families cause at some point it might come out.
Debz is such a sweet soul. This book is unputdownable.
Good morning Lynn 🌄 and the team? it's another day to learn, rebuilding it is👌
Yes it is, let’s rebuild ❤
2 brilliants minds here❤
Good morning 🌞 LNN community ❤
Why do i see like she resembles her dad, is she sure that whatever her mum said about her biological father is true? may be she did that to try and break the father, daughter bond out of malice and knowing that she had completely lost a chance to have such a beautiful bond..
Thank you Deborah for sharing , I will get a copy for my daughter to read when she is much older
Morning everyone attending another great learning session😅😅😅😅
Ooh my God

The only difference is my dad is my biological dad
Congratulations to my dad ,,,tat great man n many single dad's out there God bless them
What a therapeutic talk/discussion.
To us who are proud of our bonus parents, rough childhood but rising to the top.
Where do I live surely? I didn't know her before this interview. I should get this book like today
Hello Team Lynn lam really lntrested with this touching conversation also as the title of the book suggest it's True curiosity killed a rat
"He was not the perfect guy but he was the present Dad" Lots of lessons to draw , as a Ugandan I'm sorry for what the real dad abandoning them but grateful to God that she was able to overcome. Tendo you are an extra ordinary human that is destined to impact souls through your story
“ This World has full of story “I agree.
This is very very deep. PARENTS who are absent in the childhood years become disconnected to their children emotionally and psychologically. When death occurs you can view the body and feel absolutely nothing. No emotions.
Today we're at 779K subs yesterday it was 778K soon will be 800K🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What an inspiration? A true rough silk story to inspire the world. It does matter what your background is if your focus you will succeed. I loved this. Thx team Lynn. ❤
