This is in the city and the houses are closer together. As you move away from the city, the houses are bigger.
Barbados is very expensive and it's the 12th most expensive place in the world to live.

Barbados is shaped like a leg of Lamb.
You must use the pedestrian crossing.
People don't mind pictures taken if you ask. The older generation is different.
Not everyone in Barbados is Barbadian. They are many foreign people now the borders are opened, some don't speak good English and don't want to interact so they use it as an excuse.
You were in the city. Houses there are very close together and small. They are very close to the road as well.
I'm glad you like our island.

the Rihanna "logo" at the house are to pinpoint the house, and the colours around it are from the Barbados flag.

You have to understand Barbadian housing through the lens of a plantation society where the majority of people could not afford big homes. Many of these small homes were the result of government efforts during the late 60s and 70s. The wooden homes were called chattels. You could break them down and move them. You see land ownership was and still is a problem due not only to small size but because the descendants of whites own by far the majority of land. Barbadians tend to be very private about their homes.

Lots of people have wooden flooring, so the floors are elevated, to allow the
air to flow, keep away insects etc. in order to preserve the wood. Not unusual for people to use expensive wood either such as mahogany.
