This is just art...I don't care what your beliefs are...you cannot deny the artistry in this performance. It rips your guts out--that's what true art does, and that's why it's so valuable, it rips out those guts and gives you pause to examine them, thus questioning everything. God bless these artists, I'm so glad they love the Lord, so I can jealously hear them sing His praise. Oh Love, that will not let me go, thank you, Jesus.

How excellent and appropriately spoken! I can not listen to this glorious rendition, without tears moistening my cheeks. The Gathiers have been personally responsible for bringing SO MUCH joy and spiritual renewal to my wife and me over the past decades. Recently we were very happy to see them also producing some familiar old-time secular music. They were playing familiar old songs of musicians we both knew and loved growing up, and we thoroughly loved singing along with them. But after a few days, we began to feel more and more uncomfortable about it, when the Lord began convicting us both about the Gaithers now recording secular music. WHY? Because we know how insidious and crafty the arch-enemy of God is. Satan loves to bring things into the Christian church that at first look so harmless and enjoyable -- but are in reality, the kiss of the serpent. We both believe that within a short time (most likely after they pass away), the Gathier organization will be producing full-blowen rock 'n roll videos -- under the guise of, say -- "Old-time Feel-good Music for Boomers" or some other innocuous term. We just feel that the Gaithers have now (hopefully innocently) opened "Pandora's box." And where it will lead, only the Lord knows. Please join with us as we pray, that the Gathiers realize the trap they have fallen into, and with God's help, seemingly put the "pickles back in the jar" -- by the only way possible. That being, to REFUSE to record one more SECULAR song, regardless of how innocent and/or lucrative it may first appear.
All these people sitting here ( although all legends in their own right ) , knows the magnitude of the talent of David Phelps ..
David Phelps is the best ever Tenor. He has a God given talent and he uses it for God’s glory, amen 🙏
David's voice is amazing, God has truly gifted this man
I’ve heard this song a thousand times, but it has new meaning after having read about the writer George Matheson. As a boy he had partial visions concerns and by age 20 was completely blind. He was the first of 8 children and his sister learnt 3 languages to assist him with his education. Then she was getting married and this was a bittersweet time for him, the eve of her wedding he penned this song, without rewriting or correcting any of it. It speaks of an unselfish love that will not let us go and it’s an awesome reminder of Christ’s love for us.
And one of the reasons it was bitter was because his fiancee didn't want to marry a blind man and so broke the engagement off. Meaning this was a break up song. And instead of badmouthing his ex he ran to Jesus the only one who loves unconditionally.
Look at the faces of these people. Listen to the voice of this song. There is an endless, everlasting love to be found. It is in our Lord Jesus Christ, in Him we must and will be saved. Just ask him to come into your heart. He can be your personal savior. You will hear his voice, and you will know why these people cry. Love like this can come into your soul by no other name in earth or in heaven.

Mr. Phelps has little difficulty with pitch control, displays complete command of his vocal registers, great breath control, a keen ability to keep slow, soft phrases driving along with perfect arc. He interprets and integrates the drama inherent in this wonder of a church poem so well that this audience of skilled musicians which includes the great Bill Gaither, the late Queen of Southern gospel Vestal Goodman and other enormously talented music writers and performers present...were stunned. A must listen.

This was my mom's favorite song. It was her testimony in life to God. My mom died August 14 2023 this song was sung at her funeral it touched the lives of those who were there.

Marcos Perez Not a problem at all, Marcos. Bill Gaither usually makes at least 2 videos from each Homecoming session. In this case, he actually made three. The third one is called "Passin' the Faith Along." Blessings to you as well.
