This film is so underrated, but I'm glad I've had the opportunity to watch it. I feel like a lot of love went into it, and that's so refreshing to see when you're surrounded by cash-grabs.
one thing we can't deny: the animators and voice actress of Darla sure had A LOT of fun doing her scenes. Every one of her expressions are hilarious and her voice makes every line just as unique. Also, the music Big and Loud sums up some directors like Michael Bay pretty good xD
I honestly count Darla as one of the forgotten classic animated villains, I mean its Shirley Temple as a maniacal hollywood despot, thats both hilarious and so close to the truth for many hollywood stars.
I'm just spitballing here, but I think that's because of how popular she instantly became, and her gorilla butler being with her is due to her age not being a good enough number to give her some pure solitude. Although, as of the end of the film, I wouldn't be surprised if she earned the death penalty in a couple of years by trying to set fire to an animal shelter, which in this world, means that she would murder innocent children! Good God! So yeah, maybe she shouldn't have been left almost entirely alone with her thoughts...
The Noah's Ark flood on set was actually a reference to the 1914 adaptation of the biblical story. They used 10000 gallons of water to create a massive flood on set. Too bad several actors were injured and or killed in real life during the scene.
you know what i find kind of crazy about Darla, it's not that song of hers, it's not that she acts like angelica sometimes, but it's that thanks to another person who reviewed this movie, she looks like batman villain Baby doll from the animated series
13:58 - Guys, guys! I just figured out who Darla's father is! Beelzebub! And I think the butler is the ancestor of the monkey from the Gorillaz 19-2000 music video.

I wish Max was a good guy. I hate how that director interrupted the passionate kiss between Danny and Sawyer. I'm doing a sequel of Cats don't dance fanfic. In the third sequel of Cats don't dance, I'll do the part where Danny and Sawyer get married.
Although I do have a bit of nostalgia for this film, and I did see the racism , I thought the racism allegory wasn't well down , to an extant. It's good that a kids movie would do something like this . But it's done well. If it's set in the 1930s why does Danny and his friends get equal right to be film at the end. Maybe if it was set in the 1960s I would get it. It would be both evident about films of the past up to that point , and be an allegory for the civil rights movement. If you want to use animals to talk about racism in a family friendly movie, Zootopia struck the iron better. It talked about racism from s modern perspective, it showed stuff like this still happens. With this , I have no idea what direction it's going.
9:49 Darlas tantrum was an overreaction but Danny did overstep and try to hog the spotlight instead of just saying his line like he was supposed to(messing up the take), I feel instead of saying Hollywood doesn't want animal talent, Sawyer should've called him out on that instead while also pointing out he did the same thing earlier that caused her a lot of problems when he first arrives. Maybe she was gonna tell him but he barely let's her get a word in edgewise. ... 10:35 Also how much does the studio pay Woolie? I think this movie is decent, but nowhere near as great as Roger Rabbit, which basically has the same anti segregation type plot, except with cartoons in a live action world. That is one of my favorite movies EVER for a reason. This movie also conflicts with another animated movie released that same year - Anastasia - which I prefer exponentially.

One of many movies that focused on the theme of never giving up on your dreams. I swear to God this movie inspired Zootopia and Sing.
And also Robots.
here's a question. how many animated movies have a Child as the antagonist? I give this movie credit for casting a bratty child as your antagonist
my question is how old is she for even to move out into a mansion and on her own with no parents?
Judging by her obvious Shirley Temple aspirations, I'd say that her films more than paid off for her entire family.
