I do not just do candy, I do fruits, vegetables, powders and eggs. I would really like to expand into meat dog treats (Chicken and Liver ect)

If I sold FD candy, it wouldn’t be store bought candy, it would be candy I made from scratch. My own unique product. It would also be organic and free of dyes and preservatives. It would have less than 5 ingredients and everything would be gluten free. Why? Because that’s my own household’s standard for candy. I’m far more interested in other foods though. Mainly powders.

It's easier to try to jump on someone else's success than put in the graft to come up with something new/different. Then just blame market saturation for why you weren't successful 😔

@@EmilyBishop13 agreed. If you look at the benefits of freeze drying, I.e nutrition retention in food, and 95-99% moisture removal with colour retention, there’s so many possibilities if you just sit and think. I just don’t get why people would rather buy skittles and waste time with that besides it being ‘easy’.

Where I live and sell FD candy most people have never heard of it let alone tried it. Sure TikTok has made FD skittles go viral and some of our customers will say they seen it but they haven’t tried it. I find that interesting because it tells me that even though something is popular on social media it doesn’t mean people are ho crazy looking to buy in most cases. We see directly to our customers in person at a local swap meet and it’s been very rewarding thus far. So yes, you can still have a successful FD candy business if you put a little work into it.

I have the exact same Breville coffee maker and had it for a bit longer. Love it! I made 40 shots and freeze dried it all.
I also grow Carolina Reaper peppers and make a freeze dried powder than I add to a line of Blackberry jams. A tiny bit goes a very long way. I just retired and am thinking of a side hustle to keep me busy. My freeze drier was a second generation HR so I will be getting the latest in the XL size.
Since we have billions of Rattlesnakes here in Texas, I am thinking of freeze drying the venom to stabilize it for the pharma contracts. Guess I will need a scientific HR model for that as I will not be able to process food with it and need much more control over the process regarding shelf heat levels and phase timing.

I was in the restaurant business for years. I would find someone you know and collaborate. Most restaurants have 12 hours give or take when their kitchen is closed. Maybe supply them some specialized products and pay some rent in exchange for those dark hours. Just please! Learn to properly clean up after yourself! And probably plan to pack it in and pack it out. Most places are stuffed with their own supplies. Or get creative with a truck or trailer.
