I saw this craft on pinterest and I was like I have to watch someone do this. I am so glad I clicked on your video. I really enjoyed it. Your voice reminds me of watching bob ross on pbs paint. I love it. You give instructions but leave it to a creative imagination.
Oh wow, what a super nice comment! Thanks so much for the compliment - I used to watch Bob Ross all the time and found his voice and demeanor very relaxing. What a kind thing for you to say. Thanks Jocelynn! ♥
I wondered if someone would mention her soothing voice!! The ASMR lovers on UA-cam would go wild over this! Lol! Love the beginners video! Thanks for sharing!! ❤️
Tacky Glue is better for quilling in my experience. I think it holds better and faster than school glue. Good job. I've been quilling for a yr now and have tried different glues. Also you can buy a mini paper strip shredder to cut your own paper. I do that and buy premade ones that I can't find a certain color. Happy Quilling!
I'm so glad to hear about the tacky glue because I was wondering if that might work. I got one of these kits for my birthday. Of course, it didn't come with any instructions. So this is my first video I'm watching. Thank you. I subscribed.
Thanks for the tips, I’ve done lots of quilling but I’ve learned a lot from you. Thanks. The cutest things I ever made were two pictures of little Victorian houses made from balsa wood and quilling paper. I moved into a different home and somehow the framed pictures disappeared. I loved those little houses but I have a feeling my husband tossed them in the trash. I made them from a kit that I bought from a company that sold kits and supplies. I have never seen anything like it since, I probably bought the kits back in the late’70s. They used yellow quilling paper for siding, black roofing and white trim for the bric a brac on the porch. Have you ever seen anything like that? I would sure like to make them again. .
So nice. Thank you very much - because of this video, I'm no longer intimidated by the art of quilling because I was wondering if there was an actually *easy* way to make the heart and "S" shapes. I really appreciate your info - but, can you please make another video which shows how to make "other" shapes if you haven't made one already? Again, thanks bunches for this video. Keep crafting, please.
I'm watching your video because I found a quilling kit at my local "dollar store" for a couple euro. I figured it would be a cool way to make some christmas cards and learn something new at the same time. Kits like this are a great way to jump into something without spending a lot.
I have quilling paper and tools (have had them for a couple years) and have not yet used them. Maybe I will give it a try now. I really love the little heart you made. Thanks for sharing this :) Hugs....Janie
You're right, that would be far more efficient... Or even an electric shredder. I was sort of experimenting on this video but I love your idea for future use.
Hello! I received a beginner set for Christmas and found your wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much and I subscribed to your channel. I love crafts of all kinds.
I have to confess I found quilling really frustrating and wrote it off as not for me - wish I'd watched your video first! Your tips to start with a wall to build inside and run the strips over a bone folder first might just get me to give it another try :)
@@n.parker9607 It would be best to use a frame without glass... but, if you want glass in the frame, you can always frame using a shadow box since the frames are deeper.
Thank you, Vanda! You can hand letter a large initial and "trace" it with paper strips and quill the letter. This would be a great way to incorporate it with your current talent. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
Would it be easier to wrap the strip around the cup you traced, maybe 2 layers....then glue it to your drawn circle?....It made me so nervous just to watch you struggle, it seemed so fiddly, to have to mess with it,like that But that is probably just me, other than the circle part,I think I will like trying this, thank you!
Also, you replied to a comment below that it took you several evenings to complete the "shamrocks" in your video. Will you please let me know why that is so? Was it because of having to let individual pieces dry before moving on to the next ones? If so, which pieces had to dry and what piece(s) did you make first? Thanks for any and all advice. Keep crafting. 😊
Hi Curtrice, Thank you for your kind comments. 😊 You'd asked a couple of questions... first off, the shamrock piece took me a while to make as a whole since I quilled a ton of tiny circles for the rainbow in the finished piece. The shamrocks took me just a few minutes each - they are super easy and the glue dries quickly also. But the rainbow took quite some time. Also, yes, I'd be happy to plan another future video to show how to make other shapes. Thanks again for your encouragement! Hugs, Maranda
Hi Tina, You could use construction paper but it would be a lot more challenging to manage since it does not have the stability of cardstock. If you use cardstock, I would recommend a 60 pound. Have lots of fun creating. I hope to produce more quilling videos this year. :)
@@MultiplicityCrafts I checked my local michaels craft store and they only carry 65 pound card stock will that be too heavy to use? Also what about old cards such as birthday cards any occasion cards will that work as well?
@@MultiplicityCrafts Thank you for getting back to me and letting me know. Also will a electric straight cut paper shredder work for the correct cut and length?
Tina Jarvis yes, it should work great. Most paper shredders cut evenly and at the approximate thickness you would want for quilling, but if you run into trouble you can either cut your own on a paper trimmer or order pre-cut quilling strips.
As someone who has been quilling for 4 years I appreciate your approach to the on edge technique which is what you are doing at the beginning of your video, however, it is better to apply the glue to the strip a bit at a time :-)
Awesome - thanks so much for your input. With time, I have learned a few more tips than are shown here... haha. I hope you are having lots of fun with your quilling!! Best Wishes!! :)
Your shamrock piece is super cute! Want to try this. My problem is getting the creative idea in my head as to what to make. :( I'm more a see something I like and then recreate it.
R Hull-Nicholls Thanks so much! You can find lots of great quilling ideas on Instagram and Pinterest as I am sure you are already aware. 😊 Or, you can even get ideas from paintings. Have fun!

I use cookie cutters, coffee can lids and cool whip lids for my frames.

I don’t have that much patience for quilling but I do love watching others do it! xX

Yes, and another way you can do it is to build your "swirly" pieces first and then glue the border so it isn't so fidgety, lol. ♥
