Hello Daryl! This is the most realistic appearing N Scale layout I've ever seen!!! Absolutely Amazing!!! I'm almost finished selling my Standard Gauge Tinplate trains as I want to go back to a scale that provides for switching and realistic operations... ... and your layout videos here are Certainly convincing me to take a serious look at N Scale again before I consider buying again! Thank You Very Much for sharing these here on UA-cam!!! Blessings! Will & Wendy,
I really enjoy watching the videos you make. Your layout and trains look so realistic, it's amazing! Let's the rest of us N-scalers dream of what could be. I look forward to the next installments. Thanks for sharing!
I just cannot comprehend that it's possible for 12 people to dislike this video. This layout is one of the best N scale layouts out there and it looks and operates realistically. I can't imagine what there is to dislike about the Geneva Sub...
Wow! You did one heck of a job doing the Mississippi River bridge. That is awesome! I am into N scale too, so seeing this just makes me more hopeful for my own layout one day and what all is possible.
What a great achievement you have here. I am enjoying this video immensley as i will also be modelling UP but in the 60's and more so the desert scenes but your work is beautiful. Congrats I will watch part two then add the two to my favourites. thank you for sharing your railroad.
Very nice model railroad, industries, and businesses. I admire all the work put into the layout. What better than to be a Union Pacific with many engines.and cars doing the mainline, Thanks for posting for us to enjoy.
All you need is sound, Daryl! I'm hoping to get a Milwaukee Road F unit with sound just to see how it works in 'N'. Your layout is lovely and always getting better, and I look forward to the next operating session! Cheers!
Great video. Very realistic starting speeds (a pet peeve) and running speeds. Gradual radii in curves also appears realistic. Nice running shots. Well done! Thought I was watching HO until the end. Sounds would be the icing.
I know tis is an older release video, but I wanted to say that I think your modeling is top shelf. I really enjoy seeing the trains traveling through such great scenery as you have on your layout. Thank you for the time you took to share this with us. Hoping I get my layout to this grade of modeling, & I would love to use some of your ideas. Have a great day. Robert
This is an amazing layout. The scenery is impeccable. Your railroad has even ended up in Model Railroader Magazine!! But it has cemented even more my belief that point to point is the only way to go for realism of operations. Just as an example, within the first 10 minutes of video, you had both an East and a West bound train that ended up in Proviso.
Love the re-creation of the Rochelle Diamond and the rail park. Just a note on that though, before and after the diamond there are railroad crossings for UP.
Just hired on to UP out of Proviso. Im a Wisconsin road conductor. Geneva sub is a East-West line. Ive been wondering what traveling to Clinton IA would be like. I absolutely love the Proviso yard too. Thanks for the video. GoUP. 🚂🚂🚂
Nice to see a face to the person who build such an amazing layout. I have been watching your videos since I subscribe, maybe 2 years ago or longer. And you have done a superb job on every aspect of the layout. The scenery looks professionally done, and I don't know how you do it so your trains can run so smoothly. My layout is so tiny and I have all sorths of operation problems, and there ho (the reason I say that is because of the weight). Anyway congratulations, and great work Sir!! 5*****
(from Canada) A very nice layout my friend, keep up the great work and look forward to the next video you make. Thanks for sharing this video for all to see.
Awesome Layout, very exciting to watch. Everyone now is into sound and nothing done to make the layout look real. In my opinion a great modeler makes it look real then can add sound (good sound) for a real full scale affect.
Lordy have mercy... I was tryna say my dad is into trains too... I've been good though...hope your Christmas was great! When do uget back to the office
Woooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww!!!! Great layout and the scenery is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW do you get your trains to run so quietly? Just fantastic. The modelling and craftmanship in the building of the bridge over the waters was so cool too. Thanx for sharing!!
Hello, I too was wondering what the dimensions are, but even thou I have a layout in our car shed ( garage) it is a mere 20x20 ft and HO to boot so a track plan like yours is wistful thinking on my part.. Thank you Baz
Back to watching your video and when we move I will have to change scales to N from O. A big leap but downsizing our home. and so I get 1/2 a 2 car garage. What temperature do you keep the layout at as it differs so much during the day here. Will have to enclose the 1/2 garage and keep an air conditioner on
I absolutely love this layout, but what is the size? I am in the process of building a room over my three stall carport. The deminsions will be 30 feet by 30 feet, whould this track setup work for this kind of space? I love the double track main line setup.
+Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision interesting points ,if anyone else wants to learn about how to apply for a railroad job try Elumpa Railroad Jobs Alchemist (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got amazing results with it.
@Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision i liked this video very much, especially the second part of the video. I have found another usefull product for model railroad layout. Just Google search the phrase "Panlarko Amazing Railroad Planner"
I don't like N scale because there are no grab irons on the loco's. I like to get up close to my HO scale loco;s to get the feeling of standing next to the railroad tracks. Other than that you have a nice layout, if you don't get too close to it.
You have a wonderful layout. I could even see the reflection of the train in the water as it crossed over the bridge. What did you use for track and switches?
3972 - such a wonderful smooth start - is the unit and it's two assistants standard 'out of the box' or have you modified them in some way? (Old Nscaler returning to hobby after 25yrs) IMHO your locos run better than I recall HO achieving in the '80's !
I really like your layout. Where did you get the signals? I have found it hard to find good signals and masts in N scale. Your layout is club quality. Love watching this video.
very very well done: Very inspiring work you have there. I bet you guys have a lot of fun during operations: The signals and signal heads are incredible. I take it you have a CTC zone and a dispatch zone?
I go to the Rochelle Viewing Park quite often. You did a great job recreating Rochelle on your display.
First Ive seen it modeled. Only thing missing are the crossing and the road. But yeah he nailed it.
Hello Daryl!
This is the most realistic appearing N Scale layout I've ever seen!!!
Absolutely Amazing!!!

Will & Wendy,
This isn't N scale. This is HO
@@ryansullivan3100 I'm sorry, I'm a standard gauge tinplate guy - I thought that looked too good to be N Scale!!! Blessings!!!
@@ryansullivan3100 He said it was N scale in the opening seconds of the video.
Ryan this is very much N scale.
What a massive, massive outlay of time, and financial resources! Amazing workmanship!
Thanks. Check out the new layout UPRR Evanston Sub
That huge bridge over the Mississippi is incredible! Wow! The water is also well done, I love how you can see the bridge pilings underwater.
This is not only one of the best N scale layouts I have ever seen, I think its my new favorite layout PERIOD! Amazing!
Beautiful layout! Excellent narration! I love know where trains are going!👍🏾 it adds to the watching experience and it feels like I’m there!
Thank you very much!
Very nice layout and good ideas for mainline running. Like coming off the returns to the inside to leave the wall for yards and sidings.
I really enjoy watching the videos you make. Your layout and trains look so realistic, it's amazing! Let's the rest of us N-scalers dream of what could be. I look forward to the next installments. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
This is among the finest N scale layouts I've seen. Excellent work!
I just cannot comprehend that it's possible for 12 people to dislike this video. This layout is one of the best N scale layouts out there and it looks and operates realistically. I can't imagine what there is to dislike about the Geneva Sub...
Either they are packer fans and didn't like my bears shirt or they are all jealous HO guys.
Hey, I'm a HUGE Packers fan and I don't hold your choice of apparel against you lol...
dexterdog62 same
i rail fan in Illinois plus im from and still live in Wisconsin

Whereabouts in the desert Chris? (seriously considering Cajon and surrounds circa 1970 and looking about for kindred souls)
Very nice model railroad, industries, and businesses. I admire all the work put into the layout. What better than to be a Union Pacific with many engines.and cars doing the mainline, Thanks for posting for us to enjoy.
Thanks AJ. Its been tons of fun to build and run so far.
Superb model work. If I had to guess I would have thought it HO scale at first. The feel of the layout is super realistic and I love the track work.
All you need is sound, Daryl! I'm hoping to get a Milwaukee Road F unit with sound just to see how it works in 'N'. Your layout is lovely and always getting better, and I look forward to the next operating session! Cheers!
Great Video! It looked so good i thought it was HO Scale at first!
Great video. Very realistic starting speeds (a pet peeve) and running speeds. Gradual radii in curves also appears realistic. Nice running shots. Well done! Thought I was watching HO until the end. Sounds would be the icing.
Beautiful layout!!! I particularly like your Proviso engine facility. I grew up along the CNW west line, and model CNW/UP along that line circa 1995.
I know tis is an older release video, but I wanted to say that I think your modeling is top shelf. I really enjoy seeing the trains traveling through such great scenery as you have on your layout. Beautiful layout. Nice video. Very enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing.
This is a VERY GOOD LAYOUT one of the best i have seen, and you run your trains at a prototypical speed, well done sir, Tony from the UK
Many thanks!
MAGNIFICENT!!!! Your layout is absolutely beautiful. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the extremely well done videography.
Thanks! I'm posting a new video tomorrow. Be sure to check it out and, if you have not done so yet, subscribe!
Wonderful display, thanks for sharing with us!
I love watching these as I am in Davenport!!
Looking forward to this set of videos. Love the layout and the fact it's exceptional N-Scale work.
beautiful layout and trains. I cant believe its N scale, everything is so superdeatiled and perfect, looks like HO scale.
This is an amazing layout. The scenery is impeccable. Your railroad has even ended up in Model Railroader Magazine!! Just as an example, within the first 10 minutes of video, you had both an East and a West bound train that ended up in Proviso.
Nice layout very realistic .Thanks for posting.
Your layout is fantastic looking. Very convincing. Love the bridge over the Mississippi river.
~Go Bears.
Love the video, with the commentary.I very much look forward to the next video.Cant wait!
Great video Darrell. Awsome layout. Look forward to seeing the rest of the series on operations.
Love the re-creation of the Rochelle Diamond and the rail park. Just a note on that though, before and after the diamond there are railroad crossings for UP.
Jared Klock there are for BNSF too.
Just hired on to UP out of Proviso. Im a Wisconsin road conductor. Geneva sub is a East-West line. Ive been wondering what traveling to Clinton IA would be like. I absolutely love the Proviso yard too. Thanks for the video. GoUP. 🚂🚂🚂
Exceptional work sir.
awesome weathering on that tank car @ 2:52 !!

Same here, I thought it was HO scale. Great layout and video. Thanks for posting.
Such a nice set! Well done.
Excellent Layout! Love those Bridges!!
Thanks!

(from Canada) A very nice layout my friend, keep up the great work and look forward to the next video you make. Thanks for sharing this video for all to see.
Very nice layout I thought it was H-O at first ,excellent N scale layout
Awesome Layout, very exciting to watch. Everyone now is into sound and nothing done to make the layout look real. In my opinion a great modeler makes it look real then can add sound (good sound) for a real full scale affect.
I just saw your layout in this months MR magazine. Awesome, you must frame it.
nice layout probably one of the best i've seen in years
This is really cool i cannot believe you built this i cannot build this big layout
I might put one out after I complete the series.
that's a gorgeous layout man
To operate a train that big and video at the same time you're very steady.
Seriously jealous of this amazing route!
Super awesome! Your videos are becoming top notch! Can't wait for another!
Love the layout. Awesome attention to detail. Makes it even more special to see that you're a Bear fan! : ) Bear Down!!!
So your into trains...pay dad goes gaga for them...

Stunning.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT my friend.
the water looks so real!
I love your layout
Wow, what a nice Layout 😳👍
Glad you like it! That layout is gone now. I am working on a new layout now.
Beautiful layout, very prototypical, except why isn't there any sound for the locomotives? That's all it needs.
Beautiful layout
Extremely nice layout. Would like to know what kind of block signal system you're using.
Woooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww!!!!
Great layout and the scenery is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best layout I have ever seen
Incredible, really enjoyed it!
I just put a link in the description to an under construction website for the layout that has a link to the track plan. Thanks for the suggestion.
You layout is incredible. I love the attention to detail. . What era are you modelling ?
HOW do you get your trains to run so quietly? Just fantastic. The modelling and craftmanship in the building of the bridge over the waters was so cool too. Thanx for sharing!!
orinbay the engine doesn’t have sound I don’t think

Very nice layout.....alot of work put into it....how many engines and cars do you have?
Very Nicely Done...
Great lay out.
Great video!!!
Is that an athearn sd70m on the point? Looks great, love the slow movement, much more realistic.
The narration is a little quiet. Other than that I am stoked to watch it!
I love your model and your trains I am a fan of yours I hope and someday have mine greetings from Mexico.
Thanks!
What are your construction materials for the electric power lines ?
I absolutely love this layout, but what is the size? I am in the process of building a room over my three stall carport. The deminsions will be 30 feet by 30 feet, whould this track setup work for this kind of space? I love the double track main line setup.

I'm astonished by the water detail, I have to ask is it real water?
I don't like N scale because there are no grab irons on the loco's. I like to get up close to my HO scale loco;s to get the feeling of standing next to the railroad tracks. Other than that you have a nice layout, if you don't get too close to it.
Hello sir ! what do you do? do you make these trains or just buy it any play with them?
tell me please
How much did you spend on rolling stock and locomotives?
Great video great layout.
was this ever featured in Model Railroader back in the 00's? if so I may have that issue
You have a wonderful layout. I could even see the reflection of the train in the water as it crossed over the bridge. What did you use for track and switches?
man, what a layout!!
3972 - such a wonderful smooth start - is the unit and it's two assistants standard 'out of the box' or have you modified them in some way? (Old Nscaler returning to hobby after 25yrs) IMHO your locos run better than I recall HO achieving in the '80's !

Hey this is awesome. Are all those cats yours? That's dedication at its finest. I'm thinking of setting a Union Pacific line up for my son and I.
Nice layout. Nice video. And let me thank you for doing some narration. Some guys seem scared to death to say anything on their vids.
That's is really cool layout nice what size is it my buddy operating BNSF
I think it's going to be good series of videos. Thanks
Bob ;{)
How much did this cost to build?
Wasn't this in MR a few years ago?
you should have had buffer cars between the locos & tankers on your east bound train. i make the same mistake
What company do you use for your pink lady stone ballast?
Arizona Rock and Mineral. armballast.com/
? How come you do not have any Soo rolling stock
very very well done: Very inspiring work you have there. I bet you guys have a lot of fun during operations: The signals and signal heads are incredible. I take it you have a CTC zone and a dispatch zone?
Track plan?
DC or DCC?
