- We review the new Micro Machines Super Van City from Hasbro. The flagship play set for the return of the best line of miniature vehicles from the 80s and 90s. We compare it to an original vintage super van city and put the new play set through its paces to see if it is a worth successor to the original Micro Machines line!

Granny bought my son this for Christmas. He's 3 and is in love with it. Great toy and the van itself is amazing as well. My son has sone big Tonka toys and the van works well alongside those
We may not have the realistic cars yet but just maybe this will be a renaissance to finally make Micromachines a top seller once again. They really are pushing for it this time and hopefully get some well deserved success. If enough interest is known with any luck it might spark a return of more realistic vehicles too; no reason fictitious and realistic vehicles couldn't co-exist. It has briefly come back a few times but was really a small blip on the radar. That new set looks fantastic. Would've loved that when I was younger. I had the Super truck City set; spent many hours with that.
I'm glad you did a comparison. Like a lot of toy reboots, they're not particularly as good as the originals, but it's nice to see them come back for future generations.

Great Review! This is a great start to bring back Micromachines! I hope they bring back the toolbox which had the San Francisco style Bridge. I will definitely be getting this for my son for Christmas! Going to bring back some great memories! For the roads, you can always get some yellow model paint to paint in the lanes.
I remember when i got the original Van for Christmas and i really enjoy it...love the new Van, it makes me want to be a kid again

To be honest, the grey and dark color scheme of the new city doesn’t really work for me.
I really hope they bring back the light up buildings that they used to have and some more name brand autos.

I wanted the white vintage one as a kid but never got it. The black one looks cool, too. But I didn't know there was a black one until I was an adult.
I've always wondered if it rolled. This is the first video I've seen where they showed the vintage one not being able to roll. I don't know why Hasbro never put real wheels on the vintage one. That would've been so cool.
I've thought about buying both the white and black vintage ones for nostalgia, but I never got around to it.
Actually, the First released playset was the Toolbox in June of 1988 Not the Van as you think. The Van wasn't released until 1990, and both Toolbox and Van playsets are the same size.

Ya know I’m 11 and I saw that on tv and thought it was kinda cool so I looked at a couple of articles and stuff and said this is pretty cool! I think I’m asking for this for Christmas!

Did you notice that up dirt mountain cars that come with it don't even fit and the road beside that has weird gabs on the edges also where the roads connect aross the hinges I wish they had something to cove that gap.
I got some of them to scale with my Godzilla figures

i've just played with my old micromachines with my son and these seems really made by cheap plastic
Did you play with the new ones with your son or just play with the old ones and "believe" these new ones are made of "cheap plastic"? Because I have both old ones and the new ones and I can say that the new ones are not made of "cheap plastic". They are pretty darn solid and they roll a whole lot better...a whole lot!
@@eightbit1975 the second one. From videos seems cheap. If you say that's not, maybe i had a wrong impression. The cars too seems not so much detailed as the old one. Whats do you think about that?
@@ivanmaz2847 Maybe you should get a hold of some and check them out. They are not nearly as "cheap" as you think. They are on series 4 now and the detail is really quite good at this point.

This Super Van City is a MASSIVE pain to pack up. You have to take so much of it apart and fits tiny pieces into corners and cracks.
the lamp posts are the parts that annoy me the most, the original one has to take parts off ane stow away as well.

They don't look as good as the originals.
Yeah, I think the cars don't look as good, but hopefully they can get better with time. I think the Super Van City is fantastic though!
