I understand why people prefer other midfielders. But this guy was always my favourite to watch, the way he would find pockets of space and move the ball 1st time or 1 touch and ping a long pass effortlessly and have United immediately back on the attack was amazing to watch. Not mention the screamers he scored over the years. It’s a shame he never got hyped up by fifa or the pfa much and because of the way man utd played with scoring from crosses into the box and not being a free kick or corner taker he never registered many assists. Always enjoy coming back to watch these videos instead of putting myself through the torture of watching the disjointed mess United are in currently

Many English players have this from a young age.. they get overlooked by the professional clubs who prefer power and skill over intelligence and game knowledge. . . There is more than you could imagine. They just don't get selected at a young age . It's different in Europe as they understand you can train skill and power . You can't train intelligent critical passers . It's a character trait , not sporting ability as such .

We've seen some great players like Ronaldo and messi over the last decade but we will never see a player like Paul Scholes for a long time. I fell in love with football as a young boy watching him play. His level of passing and control was supreme to any other player. He was the master of 1 touch play. He never lost the ball and those cross diagonals were a joy to watch. He caressed a football with pinpoint accuracy. He was like an artist always painting a beautiful masterpiece. Paul Scholes will always be my favourite footballer
You’re so true, unfortunately. He never became so famous and recognized outside United Kingdom, is not like Cr7 or Messi, Zlatan and Neymar who are international well-know players, they are popular everywhere. He never was mediatic that’s why never received the recognition he deserves.

So beautiful, even if blurry. What a visionary P Scholes was. And we heap praise on our current players when they have a pass. How our standard deteriorated I don’t know. And exchanging passes to get a goal. We rarely see that with our players. Just determined to score for glory at all cost. So very disappointing. I wish they watch our past teams on how it is done..for inspiration.

I and many professional midfielders consider him the best midfielder of all time but just imagine if he was from Spain and played for Barcelona ! He would’ve been a beast.
It's strange because any player from big teams in Europe, including Manchester United, is going to get a lot of media attention and public recognition, unfortunately Paul Scholes didn't, but he undoubtedly had talent and very good technique.

Honestly I personally think Pogba can play like him. If you watched carefully, they put Pogba in a wrong place in the formation. Watch where scholes is and Pogba is in the formation.
Pogba cannot play like Scholes but he can occasionally send in killer passes. Scholes can do the following things other than passing which Pogba cant:- He can control a game, he can defuse pressing by passing around the ball, he can read passes and intercept, he can tackle - he can break some legs too while at it, he can read the opponents game and stop it, he can coordinate ball possession. What can Pogba do? Pogba can make a few killer passes and shots -which Scholes can anyway.
