It's about a month since I walked down the Thames, so I do so again to see what's changed. This time, I get as far as Iffley Lock. On the way, I meet a wood artist.
The pub knows that people really like that pub! Look at my thumbnail. Those are its seats. To be honest though, there's not much chance of refreshments on the river. You can buy drink or ice-cream in Iffley's shop, or get something from one of its pubs, but the Isis River Farmhouse is the only other choice, at least until you get south enough to cross into Kennington. On reflection, there is a path to Abingdon Road, but there's not much there either. The Portuguese café Aki closed down recently, and apart from that, it's mainly Tesco, the Voco Spires hotel, Duke of Monmouth pub, and the Mediterranean fish-and-chip shop. I think. And Bridge Stores on Donnington Bridge Road.
Rather like the Trout just outside Wolvercote, I suppose. True, that has other pubs within walking distance, but if you're coming up the Thames, it's still easier just to flop into a seat by the river.
43:11 What is that place?
It's now calling itself the Isis River Farmhouse, www.theisisfarmhouse.co.uk/ . Opening hours given as Thursday to Sunday 12-10.
@@WalkingOxford So its a pub. People really like that pub.

@@WalkingOxford Sound like they have a bit of a corner of the market there.
