Wow - I just realized that there was not a single word of dialogue in Here There Be Monsters and yet I was enthralled the entire time. The young lead actress was phenomenal - she spoke thousands of words with her face and body language. Major talent.
Facts! I watched this when it aired on this channel, but had to watch it again as I love this channel so much!! Great actors&actresses, and phenomenal shorts/movies!!!❤❤❤
'Here There Be Monsters' was very profound. The way she was treated trapped her on that bus with monsters. Mentally people do get trapped, and enraged, by things that occur to them in this world. Some become monsters themselves-consumed by anger & hate. I felt very deeply for the girl when she was crying. At the end her demeanor changed drastically. She wasn't crying. Great work!
I certainly get the deeper meaning and metaphors of life, but surface, simple me would’ve dealt with the human, day creatures until a resolution of some kind. You’re going to earn the right to hurt me. We’re all monsters, sometimes it just needs help getting out, self preservation works everytime… oh, and revenge.
Agreed. Her character was so strong. Especially earlier in the movie when she was being bullied. That made me so angry. I had remind myself that it's only a movie😆 But those bullies got it in the end🤎🥂
Yeah and even more impressive since there was not one word of dialogue in the whole thing (except for the background chatter happening inside the bully's house at the end).
I mean..."In my day" I had mfers throw AA batteries at me once. Pegged the shit out of the back of my head. Guess who became the bully that day. Mfers don't throw shit no more, that is a fact. I am, when you are. I am as you. WE are.
"Here There Be Monsters" is a special kind of film, I think. Pain, humiliation, fear, etc. expressed in so many aspects but with bitter revenge and courage too. That young lady played her part so well, and I have to say as the scene shot moved to her face in the backyard in the end, she was so beautiful and looked so mature, and confident, but in a strange way. I'm probably not explaining it well, but it's hard to describe the feeling you get when something hits you, isn't it? Great collection of stories, Thank you!
The actors for all of these series are really top-grade pros. It reminds me of the original Twilight Zone episodes where many actors went on to become famous stars in multiple AAA movies. Great casting.
It is very rare that a compilation of shorts holds my attention from beginning to end and this is exactly what this one does. Right off the bat Here There be Monsters and Oscar’s Bell set the tone for a totally enjoyable watch. I usually do other projects while having shorts like these running in the background only looking up when the music cues promise something interesting. This was not the case here because my eyes could not leave the screen and my brain screamed wanting move of each tale. Whoever put this together knew what they were doing by giving all these talented artist a forum to shine. Every single story made me research either who the creators and / or actors were in each short which is not something I don’t normally do. Brava!
That film hurt my heart. 😢 We have a son & 2 dogs, I'd prefer to blow out my own brains than to have that happen! (Although I've never owned a gun or even shot one, besides a 22 pellet gun at soda cans in the backyard as a kid with my Dad. I don't think I would have the clarity of mind or the time to be able to unlock a gun safe if I needed a weapon to defend myself. I would never leave it unsecured although our son is over 21 now, our dogs would probably knock over something that opened a drawer, it'd fall out, & we'd come home to find a hole in the ceiling & cops outside 😉)
Oh man, one of my favorite videos EVER is Here There Be Monsters. DO NOT continue reading if you have not seen this video before!! The actress is amazingly talented and I've watched this at least three times already. But the writing, the whole message behind this video is so universal and so true. She had to get strong, she HAD to fight back and when she was literally "backed in the corner," she realized she only had two choices. FIGHT OR FLIGHT. Bless her, she fought this time. Thank you ALTER, this beautiful young actress is going to go far!
Give it time. You'll probably snap sometime in your 30's and drive your vehicle through a crowded Mall or go on a rampage with a crossbow at a Carnival. Happens to the best of us.
This girl is going to be such an amazing actress..as it is she's already doing it here without speaking a word her body language her facial expressions says it all ....and she does it well congrats ALTER once again for not dissapointing us your doing waaay better than those hoolywood movies that now days have no IMAGINATION whatsoever!!!!
In Here There Be Monsters, I thought that at the height of the final confrontation, the Minotaur was simply going to throw down the book bag that she left in the bus and walk away, and by doing so show that the real monsters were the bullies on the bus. I know the ending idea was that bullies can create monsters in victims, but I'm not sure a revenge scenario was the best approach for the thousands of kids who will watch this. Great film, however. Great direction, creature design, and acting. Powerful stuff.
'Oscar's Bell' was very good, I didn't expect the final outcome, & 'Meow' was well acted & had a great twist at the end, that's right, the Cat always gets the blame :)
Greetings Patrizia, Ive never generally cared for "horror" films. They seemed a collection of women being brutalized, lots of running, and no plot. However recently with so many other genres becoming so dull and pc, in my search for any good storytelling, in the world, I've revisited, horror.. Ps, you're probably to young, for this reference, but still to this day. The scariest thing I've seen on film, to me, was the closing scene from the original film, Spartacus. Give that girl an Oscar. Phenomenal performance and a terrific short. It had me captivated from beginning to end.

Que buena participación y actuación de la joven actriz, llevo todo solo mostrando sus emociones, su lenguaje corporal sin decir una palabra, excelente actuación!!.
