I respect that he is an old fat man but he can work a knife and is not afraid (even being old an fat) to test his own product. I respect hin greatly forctrying to kill water Buffalo with his spears
Honestly, after selling cold steel, things have only gotten better. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many things are coming back like the Talwar and how many new blades are coming out in CPM 3V like the Natchez Bowie. My only gripe is how expensive things are getting.
I love Cold Steel as a company. I use their stuff for many years now and never had a broken part or blade even after verry hard use. Your shovel probably safed the live of my son and me from a attacking 100 kilo ferral hawg by chopping up his upper yaw. Best wishes.
Lynn Thompson, you make us big boys proud! You are also a hell of a showman, P. T. Barnum would be proud of you. I love your products and carried a Cold Steel Laredo in Iraq and it had some hard times, I left it with one of my troops and he loved it as well.
Just bought this on Monday. Loved seeing you and Lynn Thompson smiling from ear-to-ear in that video over this knife. I have been going Bowie nuts lately so this was perfect timing for me!
I've always stayed away from this model because I wasn't sure about the handle shape, not sure how it would work with my hands. Seeing it in action now though, maybe I should give it a shot
Large hands, it's a bit small. My only gripe. I have one. The angle works surprisingly well. Oh, the fake stag horn is ghastly too, but only cosmetic...
Yoooo I just got one of these bad boys it’s awesome and I am proud to own one of cold steaks knifes, unboxing it I was saying “god bless Lynn Thompson”
brings tears to my eyes to see Lyn and Stickman working up a pig together. I hope the legacy never dies I've carried these knives for almost 25 years and they've never failed me.
Only two weeks ago my Drop Forged Survivalist was shipped to me. I wanted a blade of a bit a smaller size, because I own a Trail Master. After having my Survivalist, I just can say: This Drop Forged series has some real good knifes for a reasonable price. I Love my Survivalist. Stay safe everybody, and stay blessed. Greetings from Germany!
Bowie always make beautiful blades, and extremely durable ones at that.. I really enjoyed watching this demonstration video guys much love and respect to you..God bless you and your loved ones all..
Just got mine in. Already owned the older model drop forged bowie and hesitated to purchase new one believing it was the same knife just different color and handle scales added. When I seen it was 9 1/2 inch blade I ordered it immediately. Awesome blade, much better than 1st generation. It's right up there with my drop forged survivalist.
Okay I found new respect for you Keith. I appreciate the way that you were trying to continue the cold steel legacy in training with Lynn and bringing him in for this. I have had bated breath and reserved my opinions for the most part. Not like my opinions matter LMAO
Cutting a rope like that is not easy, but this is an amazing knife, and this guy showed some skill on the spot. Impressive. I dont have to tell you how skilled Lynn is with a blade. His ability makes up for his short comings. Even with his physique and age, he would take me in a gladiator arena if we were using the same blade, and I'm no slouch.
Man I wish I had Sticks job. These guys are having a nice time out on the ranch. Ventura is beautiful, and so is that blade. I don''t buy a lot of larger knives, but this is one I must have.
Keith reminds me of an uncle of mine. Similar energy and laugh. He can try too hard sometimes, even be a little irritating, but is a decent, fun guy who grows on you. I just ordered a Drop Forge Bowie today, by the way. It looks like it might be the defensive fixed blade knife I've been looking for. Love the curved handle since a saber grip is my preferred grip.
Listen to Lynn his love of martial arts is why his designs work so well. It's not that redesigned anything. It that through training and love of the outdoors he knows what works and what is just looks. I would love to see coldsteel last but we are witnessing the end. A company that was founded by a martial artist. Was sold to people that might be outdoors people. But they will never be able to understand the differences that Lynn could through usage. Lynn said his best designs came training with the knives. He always was surrounded with great martial artists even Andrew Demco has a amazing background in martial arts. Yes this is the end
Probably ...without Lynn's hands on every day....and his combat approach to eveuthing. Soon, just another knife company ... The knives are already not razor sharp, and more expensive :-/ Demko, btw
*Think that would be a better choice over my cold steel espada xl s35vn for cutting trees down LOL!* But... the Espada XL... Just has that "sound"/grin on my face To her when you pull her out Quickly LOL! I kinda... Bent the blade in like 4 spots cutting trees. LOL! Think i should get a Bowie knife like this for cutting trees.
Love this knife, seriously considering it. 1: Price point is very fair 2: canted grip allows is everything needed in a potential fighting knife 3. integral blade guards, just being drop forged in general is a great feature 4. Grip allows for a good saber grip which is most important if you were to be "fencing with it." A fender would take better to it. As for nitpicks: - while it allows a good saber grip along with all the others, the best saber grip can be held when their is a thumb ramp. As with many high end fighting knives, especially daggers, you will have a ramp for your thumb and gimping on it -I don't get the inserts... the thing is beautiful in the very design itself, the inserts can come off as gaudy especially since in is faux horn or antler or something. I've seen people pop them out and use green paracord on the handle, that is how I'd want it. I mean G10 inserts would be cool too or some very grippy micarta. Even FRN or Grivory with a decent stippling/texture in black/dark green/brown etc. would look better and feel better w/o adding to the cost all too much I don't think.
I believe this clip has a little extra to it that isn't in the doc. They might be releasing smaller segments with extra footage. I agree that video is a must watch. Wish it was longer and I want more like it.
Hello Everybody.Today buy one of this famous knife from Cold steel.I have now 7 swords,4 knifes and 2 Boars from Cold steel. And they are fantastic! Many greetings from SLOVAKIA.
Bought one of these knives last year and have been thoroughly impressed with the design, balance and quality... It is VERY much like a classic Bill Bagwell Bowie... Only one question...since this is more of a fighting knife than anything else, why did you choose not to sharpen the upper clip... To me that would have made the knife perfect...
Historical Bowie Knives that had antler handles often have a curved handle like that and if it was good enough for them back then it should be fine now.
I own a few CS knives- most of them older on account of disliking the "modern" cheap plastic sheaths CS includes. I can and do make leather sheaths for my own use but shouldn't HAVE to when putting out the $$$$ for a good knife. Do I miss Lynn Thompson much? He was my "go to" knife guy for three or four decades, so, yeah...

@@escapetherace1943 maybe Cold Steel/GSM should do a little better QC when ordering blades from other countries. When both mine and a buddies Wild West Bowie both in the same order have 2 inches of flat edge on both knives and the rest of the edge is mediocre at best.
