Supermix 4 is brighter and overshadows the bass. Hype4 is more balance and thicker sounding. I like the supermix4 more in terms of price point. Listening in low volume would be fine but I imagine once I crank the volume, sm4 will sound shouty. Thanks for the upload.
Spot on. Hype 4 are reference class for under $1k cat. Looking at some Ziigaat Jay x Estrellas as perhaps new under $500.00 champ, in a fierce category.
i am surprised by the lack of obvious difference in bass quantity in this comparison because i had sm4 and hype2 and hype2 had much more bass quantity than sm4 (i guess hype4 has the same bass quantity as hype 2 ) are you sure about your recording ?
Supermix 4 play noticeably worse - too noticeable synthetics on the upper midrange/lower high frequencies. Since Hype 4 is also quite light in this range - with other IEMs this problem of Simgot will be even more noticeable. To create something that sounds good on four drivers is not about 130 bucks ))), it is much more expensive. In the category up to 200 - I would look only at single-driver models (the only exception is armature, since one armature is always defective).
with Hype 4 price more than 2x of SM4. I think the upgrade isn't worth it. Slightly smoother treble, mid and bass. But overall sound impression still similar.

This was my exact same conclusion.
The Supermix 4 have a decent overall performance in their price range.
just some notes, hype 4 body imaging a lot better. the supermix4 top treble is fatiguing.

last jazz sample sounded better on sm4 (more open more natural female vocals) , impressive considering the price difference

Hype for only lil lacks in mid and treble extensions as compared to 1k iem. Its the reference iem for 500 bucks.
Thank-you! Listening on my Hype 4s, mo EQ. Those SM4 are fantastic. Too bright, bang for buck kings! Going to pick up SM4 as gifts.
Verus Magni 8 cable can make SM4 much warmer and darker.
And change the eartips too.
@@eboboboy thank you.
I have the SM4, very technically capable set, it’s V shaped, the treble is clean and detailed, bass tight and detailed.
