There's a takeaway/restaurant in Edinburgh - Slateford Road, that serves this, to be exact, it's Shredded Beef with Chilli, used to order it all it time at uni. In nearly 30 years I've never found a Chinese that does it quite the same. One of our flatmates used to bring it in and offer us a bit, it was only after I started buying my own I found out there was chilli sauce included, just eating the beef on its own is amazing. If you get the chance Alex, I highly recommend you try it.
Cheers David. There are probably so many ways to make this and all takeaways have their own secret recipe but i'm normally quite good at working out recipes but first i would need to try it..I know exactly what's in most stuff just by taste but having to guess is a bit more harder..I basically go on the recipes that the chefs use in my own takeaway..I still research a lot of stuff though when looking for something a bit different. Takeaways all tend to stick to the same stuff so i have to search elsewhere to broaden my horizons.Would love to try the crispy beef from Edinburgh someday, cheers David.
I need a tissue as I am drooling as I am watching this video.🤤 Another absolutely fantastic dish Alex!🥰 Sending you hugs and warm wishes from across the pond. Stay well my dear friend.🌹
I watch these videos on my mobile! Nearly took my eyebrows off when you chucked them onions in the wok😂😂😂 another nice and easy one for me to follow cheers Alex from BIGMICK IN HULL
I'm laughing here BIGMIK at the singed eyebrow's 🤣luckily you weren't watching it on a 65 inch tv you could,ve been blinded for life, thanks Mick you've cheered me up
White vinegar or even cider vinegar Sarah.I picked it up because i thought looked nice. All it does is adds a slightly sour flavour to the dish..Thanks Sarah 💕
Looks, awesome, made your satay skewers, and there were delicious. any chances of you doing a video, or portion of mix veg please, i can never seem to get it right.
Thanks Raydan i'm well pleased about that..I need a bit more info Raydan on the mix veg thing..Is there some kind of sauce with it like soya for example..I've never actually heard of anyone just ordering a portion of mix veg but i'm sure i can come up with something as long as i have a wee bit more info. Thanks Raydan.
Alex my local takeaways crisp chilli beef is really crispy and not a potato starch coating, would this just be a batter coating Another great video as always
Some may possibly use a mix of potato starch and all purpose flour but most that i know off all use potato starch because of the thin batter it creates. My own beef is crispy also and has a firm crunch..If eaten on it's own without any sauce then it will retain it's crispiness for longer..If left in the sauce for too long then looses that.Takeaways will cook the beef and the sauce simultaneously so nothing is lost retaining it's crunch..If making the dish at home try and do the same.Straight from the deep fat fryer and then into the hot sauce.Potato starch as a opposed to all purpose flour will stay crispier longer that's why takeaways use it..Cheers pal.
It's always advertised as shredded beef in the UK takeaways and the same with shredded chicken. It's not actually shredded just the name it's given, cheers pal
Yes mate no problem. That would be just perfect. Do you know something I might try that myself. Thanks for the heads up . Beef is beef at the end of the day no matter what. Chinese would actually serve roast beef if they could afford it but it’s too expensive, cheers mate 👍
Another great recipe from the kitchen of master Chinese chef Alex Wilke.
Aw cheers James i appreciate that.

@@ukchinesetakeawayrecipesbyalex thankyou
Chinese more so always use potato starch and double fry but I wouldn't with stressed beef as its so thin so cooks quickly 👍🏻
Shredded beef 🙈🤣
