I love watching how much thought and effort goes into loading these tanks. Then I chuckle to myself when I imagine Russians trying to do the same thing.

I have to be pedantic. The M1 Abrams is not the heaviest US tank ever made. That accolade goes to the T28/T95 Superheavy tank which weighed a little over a 100 tons.

The load securing (tank) does not seem to be of the highest quality. The lashing with the chains hang through .... these should, should always be taut in order to secure the load as best as possible .... even with tricky flight movements. Is this right ?

I wonder if the suspension of the tank itself has something to do with it. If certain manoeuvres of the aircraft cause the tank to move in a way that lowers it on its own suspension the chains could slacken, I notice in the footage at the time that the forward securing chains tighten as the rear chains slacken.

And another question if anyone knows is the tank battle ready as soon as it comes out of the plane is the tank allowed ammunition in it on the aeroplane

I am guessing if that tank touches any part of that aeroplane the aeroplane is fuck't I'm guessing this is a big risk for a load master 😮

    I thought the T28 was the heaviest tank ever? M-1A1 = 66T, T28 = 95T

An idea for replacing the old abrams tank: paladin tank.
    Reasons:
Paladin tank got a laser that shoots down incoming missiles
    Paladin tank got tougher armor
Paladin tank got a stronger gun for enemy tanks
Paladin tanks cost more but it’s worth it
Finally abrams tank is very old.

It's interesting that now the C-17 is getting all the press and the media is salivating over it. All the while the C-141 (A and B models) were the work horse of the military since the 1950s! Where are its accolades and recognition? The C-141 Starlifter has been through major wars, including Vietnam and Desert Storm, but they get acknowledged very little. As a former flight crew of this amazing airplane, I can tell you that the Starlifter is an unsung hero that the media have forgotten. Really sad!

The starlizzard was my first airplane and she had plenty of accolades back in the day. Difference is, no one really cared. It was about the time people were still spitting on servicemen. Then they moved the military for decades more and provided tremendous humanitarian airlift all over the globe. They flew until their programed life span was spent. An accomplishment because we got our taxpayers money worth from them and few others can claim that. Most aircraft just become obsolete. I was moved to C-17s and was very impressed with its capabilities. Modern and very versatile even though some of its promised capabilities still haven't been realized. Hopefully it's built so cracks don't limit its lifespan and it can get new leases on life like the buff. That depends on the schemes of the military industrial complex of course. The C-141 is a legend and those that know why will always know. I miss them even though those engines were shrill and the cargo compartment air and heat were wonky but i saw the world flying in them.

C-141 is obsolete and no longer in use, C-17 is still in use, and everyone has a camera in their pocket, ergo more footage of the plane.

Those are NOT fire fighting Oxygen Mask but the normal aviators breathing oxygen used in flight by the crew. And where in the world did you get the notion of a fire extinguisher tension the engine?!? 😅😅😅 That smoke is normal on virtually ANY turbine engine start!!!😅😅😅

    • @Leontyne-Dorian
      @Leontyne-Dorian Рік тому

This "smoke" occurs only when it is necessary to urgently and very quickly warm up the turbines according to the accelerated take-off protocol. The same ones are on the B-52 from Pratt & Whitney.

Tank is 68.4 tons. Plane can carry 164,900 pounds. Two different units. So why didn’t you provide the same units so we could put this in context. It is absolutely meaningless for you to use two different units!!! Geez!!!
