Good idea going with a dry well for grey water. The only future problem I foresee will be it freezing up because it is not deep enough. If you pile some dirt on it and make a larger mound that mite help in insulating it for the winter. Good job over.
Thanks! Yes, we are also wondering howcthe coldest of winter will go. Some people also add a layer of rigid insulation over top, so maybe we will try that too! Thanks as always!
Yes, we will have to see how the winter goes.. Unfortunately deeper wasnt an option by hand! I have been thinking of maybe adding some rigid foam insulation on top to help. I’ve seen others use this method. Thanks for watching!
Yes, freezing is something we will have to keep an eye on. Frost line is much deeper than 6 inches! Ha. Like I said, at worst, we have to do it next year, but at least it is on a small and doable scale! Thanks for watching!
Maybe you could create a mound of dirt over it to give it 12 or 16 inches? or even more for a raised planter! In any case, fun to follow along, kind thoughts, and thanks for sharing!
Frost line is 4ft here. No way we could get that low by hand! Hah. We will see how this winter goes, but we have seen many other people in similar climates do the same system!

It's a great idea and it all looks good.My only fear is that it isn't deep enough for it to prevent freezing over onelmed her

The obvious thing to watch out for is freezing? I believe I saw snow last winter - so you likely have a frost line more than 6 inches :)

How deep is you're frost line?
I was thinking the same thing. Also, I do not know how much gray water you will have but that pit seems small.

Gray water in our 392sq ft cabin without running water is pretty low. Less than the capacity i of the barrel in a day for sure.
