" Start an ONLYFANS" 🤣🤣🤣 That ending was so hilarious after Joe seriously asked what can you do 😂
And he mumbled that shit 😂 like damn 😒
Literal LOL. Caught me tf off guard but somebody gon take that as solid advice
How yall think E-40 be front row at every warriors game for years. That independent bag hit different when u got a whole coast rocking with u
For THREE DECADES and counting….. 💯
These niggas don’t ever bring up 40 on that side of the map lol goated
40 water one of my biggest inspirations. He stay Gamed up like a PS5
@@robertwashington9651please don’t speak for all of us 🫡
You just reminded me, wasn't No Limit independent?
The thing I love about Joe are his views toward the entertainment industry (the music industry in particular). He never minces his words and that’s necessary in this day and time
I luv Introspective joe, he's always super insightful
He killing us with his music on these intro and outro🤣🤣🤣🎙️📽️🎥
The outro joint is 🔥 though
Is there even a full length video for any of them are just the clips??
Trash can water
Joe been Flaming Math this episode!
Joe and Mecca are the ones Im listening to as they are providing critical thinking skills to their statements. The entities that control these deals have cornered the market of the artist so it is definitely hard work to be independent but at the end of the day it is your work that you own....the desperation for money will have you trapped and your one talent caged in. I saw this during the time record labels were focusing on the South rappers who would have one hit song or a single album but would not be heard of again mainstream if they were valuable. Whats on everyone's side is the free market advertisement of the internet.
The free market advertising of the internet is a gift and a curse, because since anyone can do it now it's even harder for an artist to stand out. That's why getting a record deal is about more than just money, a major record label has the connections to get you national radio play, the experience to set up tours and the power to get new artists top producers and valuable collaboration opportunities.
Plus record labels have the know how to speed up an artist's rise to the top, while avoiding the mistakes that a new artist can make without having the blueprint for success in the business. So if the deal is structured right money wise, ect...then partnering with a record label is worth it and a better option.
@mysterymediacorp But the artist the record label take are cookie cutter which majority of the fans are imo starting to become exhausted from. Everyone knows what type of artist the labels shoot for so it's best to just build from the ground up. The labels always had the advertisement machine.
Joe schooling Math lol
Everyone schools Math. Van laid a semester down on dude.
We all know math ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed
Put him under his deodorant😂
I like hearing Joe in these spaces
You know Joe a podcast legend when he make another podcast feel like his.

Joe budden can speak well. Breath of fresh air
I believe you are not use listening to people who think before they speak…
He speaks well but his action is a two pack of ass..

That end edit was exceptional.
I'm so thankful for this video clip right here❤
I love Joe!Very intelligent Man!
Bro bring back the “ITS HOFFA, only smack rapper that you know’ll smack rappers!”
I don't know, I think All Around should be the new intro because It hits different.🤷
The new intro hit with the chick on the hook! I'm like finally Math got one that's radio worthy.
I'm mad no one mentioned Tech 9. Hasn't bro been independent for years?
Got got his own warehouse full of merchandise, with 18 wheelers to delivery the merchandise!!!
Yep
RIGHT!!! FOR YEAR'S
He's not fully independent. He has a financial business partner, Travis O’Guin, with 50/50 split. He's also had, and still has, distribution deals. He also had two record deals with Perspective Records and Midwestside Records, although neither of them gave him a push.
@@markschoch9509 thanks for the info. I definitely appreciate it. Besides the 2 major deals, I would still say that's basically independent. A partner/investor is not the same as having a major contract and distribution contracts just give the company the right to push your songs on DSP's up. Still not what Joe said though.
Math has been very defensive when Joe is speaking facts. 😂
Lmfaooo math at the end saying “start a only fans” 🤣🤣🤣
facts, just finished the episode 🤣
Mach Hommy was killin that indie shit for a while too
This right here .was super 💎
Russ has a joint deal with Columbia Records don't let that kid gas y'all like he is some miracle on 34th Street 😂😂😂😂😂
The frequency is us hands down so many slaves independent what the fuck is independent, everyone needs someone all day every day ask fake Jesus ask yourself are we really independent individuals maybe put your name on it 🤔🙏🏿
Exactly, is there such a thing? Someone needs someone to cut the cheque. Unless u have ure own digital service; not Apple, not Spotify, not youtube, are u truly independent? And if ure not, what does it matter? Ure feeding urself and family, they're taken care of. Hell even the people in that room ain't independent. Joe just talked about not putting out an episode math was on cos he thought what math said was homophobic
ShoutOut Hanz on the intro track “Punching out Plugs you could’ve stopped from eating “ is a crazy bar 😂😂😂
The last comment math made me actually laugh out loud smh shit was funny af
Salute my brother 🙏🏾 💯

Tech N9ne is probably the definition of independence.

I hate when celebrities equate being a musician or an athlete to being a slave. They are not even remotely close to being a slave. Slavery wasn't a choice and these people are being compensated pretty damn good compared to most .. where as slaves were never compensated for they're decades of free labor.
Well in a way we are all slaves. You gotta work to live an no matter how bad the environment is or how bad we getting played out of money you earned you gonna keep working cause you need money to live. Athletes got it better than most but music artists slave to make a great song an labels rob them blind. Just like we slave a 9-5 for billion dollars companies an get bread crumbs an get taxed bad after you get paid. So we are all slaves in way. Them being know or famous makes them know different even house N***** were slaves
That’s is not a fact …many spaces were compensated for their work …this is how many slaves bought their freedom …..you have a lot to learn!!!
On top of that their are plenty of musicians not be compensated for the labor!!
1. Slaves were indeed compensated in many cases before the 1800s, and even some into the 1800s, hence the term "___ bought their freedom". The designation of slave was initially defined by the length of servitude a worker was contracted to work. for 12-20 years pay off a debt: youre an indentured servant. Contracted indefinitely either due to an enormous debt or clause in your contract? You are a slave. Is it based off of the fact your black or indigenous and indefinite? Chattel slave. But slaves in many circumstances were indeed paid, just very little compared to free people.
2. Labels will own your image and likeness including your birth name sometimes in "perpetuity" meaning: you guessed it! INDEFINTELY. When Prince changed his name to an Artist formally known as Prince, it was due to this fact. They owned the name prince, but they couldn't own him if he changed his name to a symbol. Some of these contracts require them to see every dollar you earn with your name, image and likeness unless you buy your name from them. Meaning, just like slaves you could totally "earn" money but a majority went to your enormous debt with no foreseeable end to the contractual agreement. Case in point: Kreayshawn still owes Sony 800k, and every dollar she earns goes to her debt if she doesn't do certain things to prevent the interception of her income. She's broke. A situation that is very comparable to indentured servitude and when indefinite: Slavery.
3. And I won't say too much about this but the race, ethnicity and in some cases BLOODLINES of the very slave masters who owned slaves and funded the slave trade HAPPEN to be the CEOs and executives who run the very same labels that are signing black and brown people whose ancestors contrarily are the very people that were enslaved 200 or so years ago.
Long story short, instead of gaslighting a slave or someone who escaped slavery, why not learn more about why they are self-proclaimed slaves in a world that lies and says slavery no longer exists. It was never abolished, it only transformed.

Math has a long way to go. Be hard headed still. Big up to Joe for this. Hope he learns.
True!
This is why I think it’s important to study Sam Cooke and James Brown. Sam Cooke was killed and James Brown was shut down by the CIA and FBI due for being so business savvy.
I dont get why this show is called My expert oppinion. The only experts on the show are Joe and Mecca. Math is unqualified to talk as an artist unless its battle rapping. Math is only a qualified expert on how to take an ass whooping from the the great iron bashir AKA DIZASTER
Drop the fully bro
That stare Joe had at the end said it all after he spilled all that smh...
Ending that with “start an onlyfans” is nuts 😂😂😂
Traveling to slang tapes/cd's was crazy back then, now u could just hop on line.
11:47. All around on Spotify? Looked for it
"Start a onlyfan" HA!
That was legendary
Hieroglyphics (Del, Casual, The Souls Of Mischief, Pep Love, Domino, DJ Touré) they been independent for the past 25 years
I just made a comment, before I seen yours, about rappers divvying equity of resources like the tech world, to move independently. Heiro, who got a lot of their game from the tech world, is a great example. The Bay Area, in general, is like that. Master P got his game from the Bay area (Richmond). E-40. JT the Bigga Figga. LaRussell and many more...
The bay had to really create motion on their own because there was a lack of major labels. Marketing, promotion, distribution, studio time, merchandise, travel expenses, it's a lot of cost to cover upfront. Folks want the lifestyle that comes with a successful outcome projected by the rapper, but don't see the work behind the scenes.
Mecca and that damn snap and point
LMAOO
Nah this is some deep stuff
Hanz killed that verse
I work at a few venues and i've never heard of some acts and they sell out i understand what they mean

Did math say START A OF at the very end???🤣🤣🤦🏽♂️
Nigga said “start an onlyfans”🤣🤣🤣
I have seen those long lines , really long at THE BATTERY IN ATLANTA with nothing but young kids. And would look up on THE BOARD and see a name and I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM. I would ask security and they would say RAPPERS ! I’m like damn I’m OLD !
The ending would be a cold intro to a female track 🔥
So that’s how we ending the clip 😂ight
E-40. And tech n9ne are the independent blueprint
Love when we sit around counting other brothas pockets....
I’d love to see a convo between Mecc and Mickey Factz
Guy, in the blue hat, sleeping in the back 😂
Joe budden should respected as community leader
“Start an onlyfans” 😂😂
Being signed to a label I think should be treated like college. Learn as much as you can, get your network up and once that deal is over, hopefully you have built up enough following, saved the show and merch money and whatever social media deals you can and go independent with everything you have learned and built up. At least thats how I would approach it. And keep your overhead as low as possible. Remember business is business so mind the business that pays you then add tax. Also the team you have around you should be on the same time as you. These artists have shit managers and no agents. Everyone should be looking to learn and grow and evolve. Not complain and point fingers. Ask these artists what’s the last business development or money management book they read? Rather pop a perc or grab a blunt than grab a book.
Damn...
The free market advertising of the internet is a gift and a curse, because since anyone can do it now it's even harder for an artist to stand out. Nas. He owns Mass Appeal.
The older I get the more different I see this conversation, it starts to looks like entertainers ( especially rap) have over inflated their value over the years. If anyone here has any experience with studios with rappers, you’ll know that the rapper does the least amount of work in the process of making a song and selling it. The producers, engineers and hell even the janitor is there before and after they write lyrics and record them. Exec and lawyers work around the clock clearing samples, on the phone, getting placement, taking calls y days a week. The rapper wrote words, recited them, and went home. Everyone else is still working to make the rapper profitable. Someone is booking hotels, someone is taking to apple, someone is trying to get you an interview…the rapper is front facing so to the less informed it lookes like they are carrying the biggest load,
THEY CLONED MATH LMAO
Mach hommy
Math, i fast forward every intro and I exit before the outro even rolls in. Stick to battle rap my boi
This shit nore fault, ever since he told him that, he keep a song on these episodes
The intro reminds me of when 50 cent used Trey Songs version on Power instead of Joe’s and the viewers made him switch it back
The issue comes down to brands. Sadly most people like brands especially these days and especially so called Black folk. No matter how good the music is especially on the east coast if it aint't affiliated with a big brand people play like they dont see it.
They don't see it LoL 🤦🏾♂️ it's not an act. That's Joe's whole point 👂🏾...
@@diegoforreal3 naw people around you see it. I'm from Philly a lot of talent there will never get their props because of not being affiliated with big names. I watched people treat people different after they were affiliated a few months later. The masses might not see it but enough people do.

Id love to hear Joe Budden and Glasses Malone have a conversation.
It’s out there he did Joe amp show once…But you won’t really see it now because glasses is signed to cthagod
Tech N9ne is truly independent.
He was originally signed to a major before he took the indy route. His business partner, Travis really broke down the economics of it all and him and Tech run a tight ship. Cats were performing 200 shows a yr all over middle America for years. It's why their core fanbase is so strong.
@@jman1562001 Yep. All facts. I know all that. Been a huge fan ever since he was with a label.
@@Benzzo3000 it was also a huge sacrifice. I don't know if tech got a family now because I'm not up on his movement. But all that travel, expenses, the front end sacrifices to do shows where you performed for little or no money. I remember he spoke on feeling alienated because when he first came on the scene black folk thought he was devil worshipping when he painted his face red and stuff. He had his own style and expression but the major ain't get it, and the trust Travis had to partner with Tech and work to where they are at. Most ain't built for that grind.
@@jman1562001 Tech got fam but I think he recently split from his wife because he tours like a maniac plus he was cheatin. Too much temptation on the road... He got kids and he did a dope ass track on his Everready album talking about how the road kinda ruined the relationship between him, his wife and his kids. His kids are on the track with him.
All we do is whine and complain to each other. It is embarrassing that we do not own and control the music industry.
What industries do we own?😮. That's the real shame.
You are whining about whining. When the artists went commercial because their corporate bosses took control, so did the audience. Bunch a sellouts.
It’s a revolving door business model. They are exploit our traumas and fast money dreams. It’s always the small hats

That 21 deal part was inaccurate lol
What about Joe put math under his deodorant😂 yeah that line hot so don't y'all go quoting it🤣
hell rell smh
Rappers should learn how to divvy equity for resources like the tech world if they truly want to move mountains independently. Math's advice about the streaming farm is not a bad idea. Hip Hop is a cannibalistic genre and will require a high level of union to gain any control.
But going to a streaming farm is a bad idea because if your streams don’t align with ticket sales the labels will laugh at you
Yoo Joe stays keeping it a buck I own 2 brands on the rise they be hating im coming harder than these sponsored corps they stay pushing the goal line lol they want their issue or beat it
