I bought Mother Earth in the 5kg blocks and it had 550 ppm's. I had to wash it 3 times before it got under 100. Then I buffered it in cal mag and sensibloom coco a & b, mixed in 1/3 perlite, good to go. You can't buy antthing better, just do it yourself.
Yes. Thats because when they decompress it with water they wash it again. 550 ppm is not so bad, if you reacj around 200 150 ppm its okay for most plants.
Not to cause any issues here but,I live in the Caribbean and not all coconut trees are grown by the ocean. There ARE a few inland farms all over the place and some folks have trees on their properties that are well away from the ocean/beaches.
I go through about 100 bags of Mother Earth per month. Sometimes its 10ppm, sometimes its all the way up to 80. I also use a 2-1 ratio when doing my slurry tests. I run straight Coco in all of our plants and flush with just 100ppm cal mag 1x week. NO issues. We also don't water to runoff when feeding. 2yrs with this method and 2000 plants at all times always seem happy. As for Coco buffers. I hit my tables with SM90 at 2ml gal between harvest and 5ml gal of enzymes, 400ppm cal mag.
Here in the UK everbodys started using a new brand called blue staff.. it's better.consistancy than canna and it's not mega mass produced so all your readings don't change every month when u get a new bag..coz it's all been made roughly 4 weeks
WOW! Thank you for this video...VERY enlightening! I just bought some coco coir and will be using it soon for the first time ever. The ad SAID it was well washed. Now I know better and will test the water first to be sure. THANK YOU!!
HI Everest, Do I need to feed cal/mag @ 300ppm everytime or is this just a pre charge if so what should my ppms be after with cal/mag and my base nute also when i water do I aim for 20 - 30% run off oh one last thing i saw u used sub culture is this the same as orca and do i just do one aplication oh sorry some say feed, water, feed??? Thanks I would love to get my hands on some mother earth sadly the uk doesn't offer much choice cheers
How often should I feed in coco? I have 2 gallon pots with hydroton on the bottom, coco, then topped with hydroton. I transplanted 3 days ago. Forgot to check my ppms. I checked yesterday, they were at 1200. I panicked, I flushed them, dropped them down to 270 ppms. When should I feed again. I don’t want to hur5 them!
carpii yes, they are essentially the same thing. I recommend all growers use EC (electrical conductivity) to measure the strength of their nutrient solution as you don't have to deal with conversion factors - you just deal in milisiemens or microsiemens.
Thanks for the advice. I'll pick up the compact pen one. Not sure what you paid but they're not cheap in UK, £65 from Amazon, which is about $80. That sound about right?
I buy cheap coco coir but I'll take the time to rinse and buffer. Haven't had an issue yet. Saves alot of cash but you need to spend more time cleaning it.
How do you buffer your cocopeat? I’m new at this and used calcium nitrate to buffer mine. Not sure if it’s safe to use. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks
i dont know if i should be adding calimag to my nutrient solution and cant find a clear answer anywhere. been desperatly trying on google. i am using canna coco which states its been buffered. should i be adding calimag along with canna coco a and b? anyone atall? please!
Just tap water. Im in the uk so our water might be diffrent from yrs.. i dont need it for tap water? Whats the deal with buffered coco coir? Does that mean its been treated with epsom salts anyway? Still hunting for answers on this. Thanks again!
Buffered tends to mean pre-charged with calcium nitrate which fills up a lot of cation exchange sites in the coco coir and so it doesn't hold on to and deprive the plant of the calcium it needs.
+Everest Fernandez (Just4Growers) ok it sounds like i dont need cal mag then. im guessing you only need cal mag for un buffered coco coir and particularly for ro water. my tap water will likely have calcium and magnesium in it and the coco coir is buffered so i think im ok without it then. still scratching my head but thanks for yr time!
Hey Everest, been watching your a lot of your videos especially about coco. I could use some help with just one question, How do you Flush Coco an at what PH level do you flush in. Im in Flower been feeding at 5.9 ph.
Love your video and I never have tested co co b4 but will now .. Will you ever grow any root veg in clay rocks like a carrot or turnip and if not why ... All the best
ive only used botanicare coco, but i found the stuff in the bags to be WORSE!!! i actually got bugs and shit in my coco because the store i bought it from stored their stuff outside... i always got higher PPM readings from the initial salt wash too. i have MUCH better luck using botanicare's 5 kilo bricks. they cant be stored outside so you know they're safe as far as bugs. i think i had springtails in my stuff which dont sound but, but are still unwanted when growing indoors.
I just tested this. Though it says it's washed, it does have significant salt. My EC meter read 418. I did use a lot of coco compared to water; it was basically mud.
lostcauz Hey Lostcauz. No-not just vegetables. This season I'm going more herbal and exotic. (Well, if the seeds germinate.) It's going to be a blast so I really, really hope you consider subscribing so you can keep enjoying the commentary. Peace and happy growing, Everest.
Soon my friend! I've been traveling these last few weeks and right now I'm sat at the airport waiting to finally get home (flight got cancelled last night!) it will be interesting to see how my plants are when I get back! Great trip though :)
Hazeberry I think we need to explore buffering agents for coco in another video although 1.5 mS is surely way too high for seedlings-don't you agree Hazeberry?
Not really, this tuesday we get delivery of biobizz coco and it costs 5$ more than salty coco for 50 litters, but out national currensy are not stable nowdays))
Really less informative. And if you are posting videos then have some courage to tolerate criticism :) it's really pathetic video. Less informative and full of marketing. Well good luck.
The key metric of quality for horticultural coco coir is salt content. In the video, I show you how to test the salinity of coco coir. What other information were you looking for? Type what you wish but choose your words carefully, especially if English is your second language. Wishing you all the best, Nadeem.
Keep it up Everest. I grow other things besides fruit and veggies but you're videos are highly educational and not at all lacking information. Wish you the best.
I don't need to be careful sharing my views. You should learn first and then make videos and do marketing or anti marketing of the products. I used the correct words and I will again use the same :) you have to be patient because criticism is a part of this all you need to know. Why you always expect positive feedback from viewers :) ?? Pathetic video.

The Happy Hour Hound now is 80 ppms too high for clones to handle ?

Bro that wasn't Vancouver Island it was Spirit Island in Jasper.... Still awesome video man! Thank you for the always valuable info.

Hi, May I
know what is required PPM of any kind of Coco coir? A prompt reply will highly be appreciated. Cheers

yeah dude your videos are great. Fast info keeps me interested and if i miss something i can always rewind
Thanks Cal. Much appreciated positivity! :)
This is a good video. I have been having issues growing in cyco Coco and this is probably the issue!!
coco.. one of the best mediums I think. Renewable, cheap and awesome!
I agree wholeheartedly!
happy to hear it bro! I'm leaving tomorrow for holiday, back in 2 weeks. I'll be looking forward to the video flow soon
Have a great holiday. Catch you upon your return! :)
Now i can plant my venus fly traps using Mother Earth with confidence!! Thank you very much for sharing!!
You sound so fun. You should teach kids this stuff
is the ppm truncheon performing the exact meter as the ppm pen? presumably i dont really need both, which would you recommend?

Ayyyy. Thank you. I checked runoff and it was +900ppm. Generic thai coco in Bangkok.
not all coconuts live by the sea
Have you ever tested fox farm coco loco ? Keep up the great videos
Could you wash it with a Clearex mix?
Does the mother earth coco have to be buffered with cal mag ?
Yes! I’m making a follow-up coco video that will explain all this stuff and look at multiple vrands
I buy cheap coco coir but I'll take the time to rinse and buffer. Haven't had an issue yet. Saves alot of cash but you need to spend more time cleaning it.

you should have used canna coco :D would love to see the ppms
Coco half the price of canna is just as good.
@@gillenzfluff8380lmao no it’s not bro
Ooo Holy ... I don't think about coco's PPM ,wow I learn it ,Thank You Everest❤️👍🏽
i dont know if i should be adding calimag to my nutrient solution and cant find a clear answer anywhere. been desperatly trying on google. i am using canna coco which states its been buffered. should i be adding calimag along with canna coco a and b? anyone atall? please!
RO water? Cal mag between 100 and 300 ppm depending on species and point in lifecycle.
Just tap water. Im in the uk so our water might be diffrent from yrs.. i dont need it for tap water? Whats the deal with buffered coco coir? Does that mean its been treated with epsom salts anyway? Still hunting for answers on this. Thanks again!

If your tap water is 0.3 mS or above then I wouldn't bother with any CalMag supplement. Just go straight in with your coco coir hydroponic nutrients.
Hey Everest, been watching your a lot of your videos especially about coco. I could use some help with just one question, How do you Flush Coco an at what PH level do you flush in. Im in Flower been feeding at 5.9 ph.
Loads are trying blue staff now coz it's consistently better readings fresh from the bag.dont know if u can get it in America yet though yet
That's RO DI water not just reverse osmosis.. Hence 0 ppm. RO itself is around 10ppm
Love your video and I never have tested co co b4 but will now .. Will you ever grow any root veg in clay rocks like a carrot or turnip and if not why ... All the best

Gardman planter compost is all coco coir and half the price of canna and just as good, I even found some from the pound shop that is just as good.
anyone ever test one of the mother earth coco block (11lb or 5kg) would love to know if it is as pure as the bag stuff.
WhoB DoB I believe it's washed also
WhoB DoB would love to know this as well
I just tested this. Though it says it's washed, it does have significant salt. My EC meter read 418. I did use a lot of coco compared to water; it was basically mud.
yo these videos are amazing, keep it up
Thanks Zack. Means a lot that you take the time to comment so positively. Peace and happy growing, Everest.
@@Just4Growers I agree with Zac, great informative content.
The water in Wales comes out the tap at EC 0.0
i love your channel, thanks for sharing!
Lately every God dam time I move my girls to coco sick as hell.. Mother Earth always was great but lately I really need to check before I transplant
That is some serious clean water right there compared to ours well yout would think it is see water ..... which it is
good fuckin video bro! theres not a lot out there on coco keep making coco videos !!!
this guys funny at commentary..... you sure all your growing is vegetables lol

Wash your coco period. Once washed 60 40 mix and your good to go
when's the next video bro?

Puedes poner subtítulos por favor?
430 ppm tds 500 scale Canna CoCo Organic yuck
you need COGr Buffer Agent to buffer the coco medium whit a ec level up to 1.5 its the best
pure coco its a no no
Hazeberry I think we need to explore buffering agents for coco in another video although 1.5 mS is surely way too high for seedlings-don't you agree Hazeberry?
Everest Fernandez You are right !
but the coco needs has to be on a certain saturation level before the nutrients are being released.
lol the commentary
Dale Winston Thanks Dale :) Got a little excited with this test, admittedly! :)
1.5 EC on MO KOKO yikes
We’re is 102
I was just talking about it today - in the works finally!
Lol! I get 1500ppm from raw coco coir from Shrilanka=))
POZblCK Ouch! That's salty! What do you use it for and how do you pre-treat it?
Just wash it in growbag with 3-4 volumes of water. Best way - in bathroom with shower.
POZblCK Thanks POZbiCK. I bet you get that raw coco pretty cheap huh? :)

No not even close grows way slower than hydroponics. You might as well just do hydroponics or aeroponics. Hell in my experience soil is even faster.
