The comic actors/comedians who were lipsyncing the song are, in order of appearance, Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black, and if you go back, you'll notice that the whole video is shot in one take, with no edits. Weird Al, had to run down five sets of stairs and do a costume change in the middle of this video. It's really funny and impressive.
And it shows his dedication to his art. Not many would do that five times one after another just to get the best take. But then again he learned to lip sync backwards for Amish Paradise. Word Crimes is still his best in my opinion.
oh yes, that was one take. video makers hate it, it is seriously complicated to make something like that in one take. there was no cut. even hiding the lip sync by slowing it down at some parts is hard, when it is a song. Oh and funny part: he was in the first part of the video and the last part. this means that he had to have an alternative route of travelling down. and he had different cloths at the end. THIS IS SKILL.
What's funny is when he did it in concert, he started out backstage, went out the side stage door, sang it as he was walking around to the front of the theatre, entered and came down the aisle, cameraman following the whole way, all one take :)
I'm fully convinced that Jack Black just happened to be around when the video was being recorded and they just asked him to do a quick segment. And those were his street clothes. He's just that kind of guy 😀
Other Weird Al gems are Foil, Word Crimes, and Hardware Store (not a parody and Weird Al raps unbelievably fast!). I also know you'd love Couch Potato, Trapped In The Drive-Thru, and Albuquerque.
Weird Al should get a Grammy every year just for being so awesome (not to mention his forty-odd year career lasting longer than most of the "Stars" he parodies). Loving this channel. 👍✌❤ Glad this one didn't make you puke.🤮🤣
Al is the MAN. THe king of parody....... I read a comment the said Jack Black was not suppose to be in this video. But he showed up & they said be in our video....!!!!!!!!!!!!
From the GOAT of common sense and social craziness (Tom MacDonald) to the GOAT of parody (Weird Al), I love it. The people in this are all comedians #HOG Fam ✌🏽
This video was part of a solid week of AL dominating the Internet. There is no question that AL is a literal genius. For his last album under contract - and honestly his last album given how the music business has changed - AL decided on a masterful marketing strategy. Each day of the week, he premiered a new video. That itself makes sense because a Weird AL song has a limited shelf life. But in addition, he premiered each song on a different UA-cam channel. So 5 channels has a Weird AL exclusive. Tacky (Happy) , Foil (Royals) , Word Crimes (Blurred Lines) , Handy (Fancy) and Sports Song (an original song w/ a MARCHING BAND) all premiered that week. All getting amazing buzz and views. Like I said, literally a genius.
I like how this video is, besides being hilarious, a low key reveal of some of the pet peeves of Weird Al, famously one of the politest musicians in the business. Can't remember where I read that he's really irritated by people who threaten waiters with bad Yelp reviews, and 4:07 came about because at the time of this video's release, there had been a spate of news articles about a bunch of teens in previous months taking selfies at funerals, a lot next to the casket of the deceased, and posting them on social media.
I've been listening to Weird Al for over 30 years. Tacky is probably my favorite of his modern songs/videos. It's funny that you mention Al's hair. Mine is the same as his, even if we come from very different places; a combo of Filipino/Scottish genetics makes for some interesting results. One person even asked me if I was related to him, and I could only say I wish. I used to get bullied a lot for it as a kid back in the 80s/90s, but I decided to own the look in college. I haven't had short hair in almost 20 years, and it's currently at about 2 ft. I often get positive attention and compliments when I'm out in public. What they don't see is the massive bush of tangles that it becomes every morning when I get out of bed, or how much of a workout it is to brush it. TSA also searches my hair at least once whenever I travel; I guess they think it's a Weird Al wig!
I have left instructions that this be played at my memorial service....No funeral, just a celebration. This is the epitome of my theme song....Can't nothing bring me shame.
Whats really impressive about this music videos is that it was made as one continous take with NO cuts at all (go back and rewatch it).. 3 minutes of singing and dancing through a building down an elevator and outside without a single cut.. masterful
Al is famously proud of his hair. In the Animated video for "Party in the CIA" it gets cut off. This video and one other one rekindled my appreciation for him, since the mid '80s.
Be sure to check out a few 'live' versions of Tacky. Al opened with this song during his Mandatory Fun tour and he would walk the neighborhood performing it, ending the song on the stage.
I'm really enjoying your reactions to Weird Al. I'd love to see your reaction to Al in concert singing his original song, Germs. He posted it at the beginning of Covid a couple of years ago now. His hair is so amazing in this video, I'm dying to see your face when you see it.
"Germs" is what Al calls a 'style parody'. It's not a parody of a specific song, but the general tone and feel of the bands music (in the case of "Germs", the band is Nine Inch Nails, especially songs like "Closer"). Another famous style parody of his is "Dare To Be Stupid", which pretty much nailed Devo to the wall (and it also serves as a pretty good description of the essence of New Wave, which was basically 'throw it at the wall and see if it sticks').
I heard you say, “I could care less.” According to Weird Al, that’s a Word Crime. I recommend you listen to Weird Al’s “Word Crimes” (parody of “Blurred Lines”) in the future.
Agreed, But I think he has learned to sing. His earlier songs were... not that great vocally. His later ones, though, have shown that he really can sing.
@Brit - Yes, they are ALL Comedic Actors/Actresses - (Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black). Color me shocked you didn't know the most famous of all - Jack Black. He's only been in nearly 70 movies!!! And NO, you can't say he's before your time, as some millennials or Gen Z would say if they are unfamiliar with someone. As I mention in most Reaction videos I watch, you really need to know a lot of well stuff, everything, especially in this case who is starring in the videos. ;)
Thank you! I’ve been jonesing for some Weird Al reaction. Love you’re stuff, you’re lovely and have a great personality. Now that I’ve buttered you up, 😜 please react to Al’s Couch Potao…. It’s a parody of Eminem’s Lose Yourself. There’s no music video, just lyric videos… Eminem didn’t approve a video for it. Note that my compliment is genuine and I mean it if you do or don’t do the song. 🥰😎
At funerals, my crazy, crazy aunt actually does force people to take photos with the deceased. We stand next to the open casket like we just landed a 1000 pound marlin.

In School of Rock the fashion designer kid told him "You're tacky and I hate you."
Or he heard Al was doing a video and begged to be in it, offering to wear his own clothes.
That was all one take. That means he ran down an entire building and changed clothes in 4 minutes then did a silly dance. Master of his craft.
Not taking away from it, but he was already wearing the final outfit at the start, he just had the clothes layered.
