The comic actors/comedians who were lipsyncing the song are, in order of appearance, Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black, and if you go back, you'll notice that the whole video is shot in one take, with no edits. Weird Al, had to run down five sets of stairs and do a costume change in the middle of this video. It's really funny and impressive.
And it shows his dedication to his art. Not many would do that five times one after another just to get the best take. But then again he learned to lip sync backwards for Amish Paradise. Word Crimes is still his best in my opinion.
oh yes, that was one take. video makers hate it, it is seriously complicated to make something like that in one take. there was no cut. even hiding the lip sync by slowing it down at some parts is hard, when it is a song. Oh and funny part: he was in the first part of the video and the last part. this means that he had to have an alternative route of travelling down. and he had different cloths at the end. THIS IS SKILL.
What's funny is when he did it in concert, he started out backstage, went out the side stage door, sang it as he was walking around to the front of the theatre, entered and came down the aisle, cameraman following the whole way, all one take :)
Al is the MAN. THe king of parody....... I read a comment the said Jack Black was not suppose to be in this video. But he showed up & they said be in our video....!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm fully convinced that Jack Black just happened to be around when the video was being recorded and they just asked him to do a quick segment. And those were his street clothes. He's just that kind of guy 😀
Other Weird Al gems are Foil, Word Crimes, and Hardware Store (not a parody and Weird Al raps unbelievably fast!). I also know you'd love Couch Potato, Trapped In The Drive-Thru, and Albuquerque.
Weird Al should get a Grammy every year just for being so awesome (not to mention his forty-odd year career lasting longer than most of the "Stars" he parodies). Loving this channel. 👍✌❤ Glad this one didn't make you puke.🤮🤣
From the GOAT of common sense and social craziness (Tom MacDonald) to the GOAT of parody (Weird Al), I love it. The people in this are all comedians #HOG Fam ✌🏽
I've been listening to Weird Al for over 30 years. Tacky is probably my favorite of his modern songs/videos. It's funny that you mention Al's hair. Mine is the same as his, even if we come from very different places; a combo of Filipino/Scottish genetics makes for some interesting results. One person even asked me if I was related to him, and I could only say I wish. I used to get bullied a lot for it as a kid back in the 80s/90s, but I decided to own the look in college. I haven't had short hair in almost 20 years, and it's currently at about 2 ft. I often get positive attention and compliments when I'm out in public. What they don't see is the massive bush of tangles that it becomes every morning when I get out of bed, or how much of a workout it is to brush it. TSA also searches my hair at least once whenever I travel; I guess they think it's a Weird Al wig!
This video was part of a solid week of AL dominating the Internet. There is no question that AL is a literal genius. For his last album under contract - and honestly his last album given how the music business has changed - AL decided on a masterful marketing strategy. Each day of the week, he premiered a new video. That itself makes sense because a Weird AL song has a limited shelf life. But in addition, he premiered each song on a different UA-cam channel. So 5 channels has a Weird AL exclusive. Tacky (Happy) , Foil (Royals) , Word Crimes (Blurred Lines) , Handy (Fancy) and Sports Song (an original song w/ a MARCHING BAND) all premiered that week. All getting amazing buzz and views. Like I said, literally a genius.
Whats really impressive about this music videos is that it was made as one continous take with NO cuts at all (go back and rewatch it).. 3 minutes of singing and dancing through a building down an elevator and outside without a single cut.. masterful
I have left instructions that this be played at my memorial service....No funeral, just a celebration. This is the epitome of my theme song....Can't nothing bring me shame.
I like how this video is, besides being hilarious, a low key reveal of some of the pet peeves of Weird Al, famously one of the politest musicians in the business. Can't remember where I read that he's really irritated by people who threaten waiters with bad Yelp reviews, and 4:07 came about because at the time of this video's release, there had been a spate of news articles about a bunch of teens in previous months taking selfies at funerals, a lot next to the casket of the deceased, and posting them on social media.
Be sure to check out a few 'live' versions of Tacky. Al opened with this song during his Mandatory Fun tour and he would walk the neighborhood performing it, ending the song on the stage.
I'm really enjoying your reactions to Weird Al. I'd love to see your reaction to Al in concert singing his original song, Germs. He posted it at the beginning of Covid a couple of years ago now. His hair is so amazing in this video, I'm dying to see your face when you see it.
"Germs" is what Al calls a 'style parody'. It's not a parody of a specific song, but the general tone and feel of the bands music (in the case of "Germs", the band is Nine Inch Nails, especially songs like "Closer"). Another famous style parody of his is "Dare To Be Stupid", which pretty much nailed Devo to the wall (and it also serves as a pretty good description of the essence of New Wave, which was basically 'throw it at the wall and see if it sticks').
Al is famously proud of his hair. In the Animated video for "Party in the CIA" it gets cut off. This video and one other one rekindled my appreciation for him, since the mid '80s.
I heard you say, “I could care less.” According to Weird Al, that’s a Word Crime. I recommend you listen to Weird Al’s “Word Crimes” (parody of “Blurred Lines”) in the future.
Agreed, But I think he has learned to sing. His earlier songs were... not that great vocally. His later ones, though, have shown that he really can sing.
@Brit - Yes, they are ALL Comedic Actors/Actresses - (Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black). Color me shocked you didn't know the most famous of all - Jack Black. He's only been in nearly 70 movies!!! And NO, you can't say he's before your time, as some millennials or Gen Z would say if they are unfamiliar with someone. As I mention in most Reaction videos I watch, you really need to know a lot of well stuff, everything, especially in this case who is starring in the videos. ;)
Thank you! I’ve been jonesing for some Weird Al reaction. Love you’re stuff, you’re lovely and have a great personality. Now that I’ve buttered you up, 😜 please react to Al’s Couch Potao…. It’s a parody of Eminem’s Lose Yourself. There’s no music video, just lyric videos… Eminem didn’t approve a video for it. Note that my compliment is genuine and I mean it if you do or don’t do the song. 🥰😎
Okay, here's a good place to take a hard left turn into Nanowar of Steel. They're a Italian Heavy Metal smart-ass band that has more talent than most bands out there. They also did a parody of Pharrell Williams's Happy called, "I'm Heavy." Even more interestingly, there's several purposefully tacky things in the video, which makes me wonder if they were riffing off of Weird Al as well (or vice versa since they came out around the same time). ua-cam.com/video/slSZ5dVFYwQ/v-deo.html They also have songs about falling in love with a gargoyle, Valhalleluja (a song about Christmas, Odin, and Ikea), and several others. It's a horrendous and yet, horrendously hilarious and great rabbit hole.
The lady in the red jacket is Margaret Cho - She is a stsnd-op comedian and activist. She is funny.... I do not know who the other lady is. Tacky folks are like Red necks. They do not care. The one man you asked about was Jack Black. I read a comment on another review. It said Jack was not invited to be in the video. He just happened to walk by and they filmed him.
Another great Weird Al vid is #WordCrimes: ua-cam.com/video/8Gv0H-vPoDc/v-deo.html I play it for my uni students before they turn in their first written assignments...
Grateful new subscriber, blowing through some of your older stuff with one complaint. YOU TUBE IS BROKEN! What took them so long to suggest this channel to me??!!!
As a guy i try to be as tacky as possible IRL but also I push the limits of my dress code for work. I've been told to remove something(s) before but they let me wear the rest.

@@delicia3013 and he did it for EVERY show on that tour. LEGEND
Fun fact: This video was shot in 1 continuous shot. when Al got pushed off shot, he had to RUN down stairs for the next shot he appears in

Jack Black said he was free on a certain date and they filmed that day just so they could have him in it.

In School of Rock the fashion designer kid told him "You're tacky and I hate you."
Or he heard Al was doing a video and begged to be in it, offering to wear his own clothes.
Yes all comedian/actors
Other Weird Al gems are Foil, Word Crimes, and Hardware Store (not a parody and Weird Al raps unbelievably fast!). I also know you'd love Couch Potato, Trapped In The Drive-Thru, and Albuquerque.
I also loved Virus Alert and The night santa went crazy.
yes to trapped in the drivethru
Word Crimes must be dear to Al heart, considering how much he must love language to be able to do what he does.
Weird Al should get a Grammy every year just for being so awesome (not to mention his forty-odd year career lasting longer than most of the "Stars" he parodies).
Loving this channel. 👍✌❤
Glad this one didn't make you puke.🤮🤣
That would be cool
That he's not in the Rock HOF is an absolute travesty
@@thomasharris4942I’m shocked to learn from this comment he isn’t already in.
@@thomasharris4942I have never thought of that and you are 100% correct.
That was all one take. That means he ran down an entire building and changed clothes in 4 minutes then did a silly dance. Master of his craft.
Not taking away from it, but he was already wearing the final outfit at the start, he just had the clothes layered.
Weird Al adds goodness to the world.

AND...All in one shot... not so tacky
I have always said that his dancing is on par with his lyrics and his videos. Incredibly talented man
I wish he would have gotten Katey Sagal to dress like Peg Bundy, or even Leela from Futurama, with her big ooglay boots. lol
Definitely should do his song Word Crimes, and Hardware Store. Both are amazing in different ways.
Al is so wonderful.
Always glad to see people who have even worse fashion sense than I do. :)
He has so many good songs. I grew up listening to him.

A song that hits me every time is " I loved her first". Listen sometime
I heard you say, “I could care less.” According to Weird Al, that’s a Word Crime. I recommend you listen to Weird Al’s “Word Crimes” (parody of “Blurred Lines”) in the future.
"That means you do care, at least a little."
Alot of things are subjective. Objective stuff is useful in helping us grow. Subjective stuff is what keeps things interesting.
Al is a good singer and a decent dancer. His ability to imitate is unsurpassed. Jack Black was just around and they put him in the video...
Agreed,
But I think he has learned to sing. His earlier songs were... not that great vocally. His later ones, though, have shown that he really can sing.
After the insane couple of years we had, I am waiting for Weird Al to write a new parody called "Crappy."
After this and the last couple video reacts I've seen of yours, you seem quite delightful so I'm definitely subs you. 😄
I love Jack Black in this video. He's clearly having the time of his life and has the smile of a man whose every dream just came true.
Weird Al is awesome, and I love this song and video 🖤
my cousins literally did take selfies with the deceased at our grandma's funeral. well, with the casket anyway. made me think of this song

This song is a public service announcement. Let's get our shit together everyone, for Al

love this song, love the reaction - its strange being called out by Weird Al, but im cool with that
Thank you for agreeing with me about the clothes.

Don't know if you noticed...
This whole video was shot in one shot. No cutaways.
Need to check his song Foil.. Very interesting!!!
