The low beams are easy if you remove the battery on the driver's side and the w/washer bottle on the passenger side. The high beam on the driver's side is not too hard, but the most difficult is the passenger side high beam.

The only YT video, where I could see how the cover of the H1/W5W bulb compartment is removed (my model has the same plastic dingy to be pushed down, while most videos show a small metal bar, just like with H7 compartment). Yes, the lamp is upside down, but come on people - is it really such a problem?
You should have had the headlight housing sitting right side up, not upside down. It might help people understand bulb and spring clip orientation. I cursed a lot more than you did when changing my bulbs And that small bulb you removed below the high beam bulb is called a "city light" in Europe.
On the high beam light bulb; is there a tab or any other type of locking mechanism that needs to be dealt with in a specific way before pulling the connector off of the bulb? If there is, please let me know the proper way it should be removed. I want to avoid ending up with a broken wire or a loose connection to the bulb. I appreciate anyone with experience speaking up. I have changed mine in my GTI, I changed the high beam head light bulb, I used a mirror to see inside so did it reverse image,, but got it done tho. Piece of crappy little job to do
True. All bulbs can be changed without removing the whole assemblies. My problem is upgrading the the original bulbs to LEDs. They have a much larger base and the spring clip has to be stretched over it to clip it in place (with one hand). I managed to install the low beams and will attempt the more difficult high beams tomorrow. I can't remove the bumper because I only have a public street to work on.
Does the little bulb pull straight out or does it require a twist to the left, twist to the right, push in and then twist and pull, or some other form of mechanic gymnastics?

Your description is misleading. It says remove headlights NOT remove bulbs.
