Great video sir, I have a raptor 50 v1 haven't flown for over 10 years now. Where do I find parts? Upgrades? And radio equipment? Any help would be much appreciated.
Wow wow wow. I gotta say I really loved this video. I currently have the raw 580 which is a beautiful machine but these vintage machines just hit different
Hi I can't seem to find one off those heads looked all over so pissed cause it looks the deal now and all can u tell me how much was the fbl head and what other head could fit it and what size is the main shaft oreganaly
That's a tough one. Thunder Tiger doesn't make them anymore. Keep an eye on Ebay or Helifreaks. The Titan X50 head fits on the stock Raptor 50 main shaft & I'm using the Raptor 50 swashplate. The links to the head are the Titan X50 links..
Wow she runs well! Where did you took your parts to upgrade the swash plate, flybarless rotor head and tail rotor for this one? I want to upgrade my raptor 50 like this!
Hi Sam, love to watch your Helis fly, I too have both the TT X50 and the TT Raptor SE. I have already converted the X50 to FBL, had a conversion kit from back in the day! Hoping to be able to converse the Thunder Tiger SE 50 to FBL as well, would appreciate any leads if you can share about where I can get a conversion kit for the SE, thanks Amit K India
@@chilly7261 yeah, I know it’s getting tougher everyday to get these parts, but they are amazing Helis, anyway, thanks for your reply, much appreciate it Sam, cheers!
I scored an R50 titan for cheap, well 3/4 of one. And today an R50 titan crash kit! Plus the rest of the parts to complete it. A redline 53 and TT fbl head will provide liftoff :) Your vids are great btw
@@chilly7261 I have enough parts to build another, if I remember right. Could you pm your email so I can keep in touch please. I will have questions when I get back to flying. Thanks in advance. Dan
cool to see a Restomod (that's a car term for putting a modern engine in a classic car) nitro heli. That swash setup is cool, I haven't seen anything like that before! I want to get myself a Nitro but need to to crashing all the time first.. Would be an expensive learning curve. Also a great video btw :)
@CliffJones-jw5ww It depends on the person. There's a saying, anyone can learn to fly, some take a little longer. I took lessons at the RC club I was in at the time. So learning the proper fundamentals is important. Then it comes down to putting in the time flying. With today's sims the learning curve can be much shorter. I would say a year or two of quality time both flying irl and on the sim and most people could fly like I do...
Nice, I owned R50SE, in the process convert it to FBL and scale MD530 fuselage.... What FBL FC/gyro you used? Your heli swashplate is original 90deg layout?
100,75,50,75,100 Always. For idle up one & two. It's only for backup, I'm running with a governor. Governor sets rpms in each mode. Normal & hold modes are linear, 0,25,50,75,100. All pitch curves are linear, 0,25,50,75,100 and total degree of pitch set to as much as the power can hold the rpms. Usually 12-14 degrees. For every heli I own. No surprises switching between modes...
@@chilly7261 I still can't move on with your video sir.. perfect scenery for sport flight...inspired me a lot.. just finish fixing and upgrading my raptor... now she is ready for the remaiden..just a quick question hope you could help...do you run governor on it?? if not, do you run flat throttle curve on all idle up position??
@@amirulsiddiq7764 I run a governor with backup throttle curves. In case you throw a magnet. Not flat curves tho, do 100/75/50/75/100 on both idle up 1 & 2. Good luck, fly that bird!
the main mast seems too tall. no reason to make them tall in flybar less setup. the manufacturer of upgrade kit should have made it shorter. main rotors closer to the fuselage, at least 1 inch.
It's the Titan X50 head. That's how they designed it. It's not like Align's DFC head. Has the secondary links. Very smooth, very agile. I have the Align 550L with DFC head. Not convinced it's faster. The Titan X50 head is smoother imo. Both fly great tho...
@@chilly7261 I guess they were trying to match the original height of Raptor 50. but obviously Flybar main rotor has to be taller to accomodate complex linkages, which FBL head does not require. theoratically, if the main blades are closer to the fuselage, then there should be less vibration, less stress on the main mast, and the heli will pitch and roll faster, since the center of mass is hanging closer to the main rotor.
@davidjacobs8558 Honestly, it does aileron tic-tocs faster than I can. Yes, theoretically a shorter main mast would move faster, but gyroscopic forces are so strong it's not an issue...
Those Raptors were awesome..i still fly a 90SE..one of my favorites of all time.
The raptor and fury days 😂
I remember when my dad first bought his 20 years ago. It was so complicated and expensive but he enjoyed the hobby. I miss those times
Sam you sir are on another level, very talented & dedicated. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I enjoy everything RC. I love the challenge of building, setup and then tuning my models. It's a very rewarding hobby...
Like the upgrade on head.
Hello 🤝 Do you have a video on setting up this helicopter? The question is the alignment of the swashplate and flybar.
Nice video! Thanks for sharing. I've just brought mine out of the mothballs after 3 years of covid suspended activity.

That took some guts to fly in the fog like that, especially right after a crash. 😁Well done! She flies beautifully.
Thank you. That's not the first morning I didn't wait for the fog to lift, hehe. It is a bit risky tho...
I just pulled mine off shelve 50v2 with os 50sx engine jr pcm10x radio.Has been about 15 years since flown it have 3 excel 60 also .
I’m contemplating trying to restore my dads, I know it will be a great challenge 😅
I just got one for dirt cheap. It's rusted to hell though. What head is that? Probably need to replace mine
