I like your method of doing this a lot, especially the idea to sand the outer edges of the photo to “feather” it out. 👍🏻
I wanted to say that your work is the best that I've seen. Thank you for sharing your techniques x
Awww ty!!
Beautiful results and wonderful Video instructions....Thanks for sharing ❣️
WOW - this is absolutely beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!
Jessica Godish you bet! Glad you liked it ❤️
Great info for a newbie about staining the cracks and cutting the photo to make it look more natural instead of just modge podging the whole thing on the wood board. Thanks!
You do this and make it look so easy..lol I’ve done 3 now, each time I get better
And better..ty Pink, you rock!
Cindy Smith awww thanks!! Yep the more you do the faster and better you get. Everyone will come up with their own method of madness 😉
This is gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing!
Brandylynn thanks!!!
So glad to you remade this video. So much better !
Thanks.. When I posted the first one I had no idea it would get the attention it did. I made it for a cousin in another state who wanted to know how to make them... But the second time around I tried to address more questions. I've obviously learned more about this process even after this second video was made. But I'm happy with it. And happy you like it!
You make this look so easy. I can’t wait to give it a try.
Idaho Blondie thank you. You will surprise yourself. Please share. Would love to see!
Very good video, nicely done. I myself prefer to actually transfer the photo to my surfaces, but yours turned out beautiful! I've painted around the pic to create a frame, but I love the way te stain turned out...totally trying stain next project! Thanks for sharing!
Andrea Stevens so glad you liked it. Tried 3 times with the transfer and failed. (Was using wrong printer) but love how these look. Thanks!!
The brush knows what to do by it self...pretty cool! Lol...

Kirsti John awesome! So glad you liked it!!! Happy crafting!

Wow this is fan friggin tastic. I love this idea it's just beautiful. You make it look so effortless. Going to definitely put this on my "To Do" list for next months project. You really give great details on how to do things. Maybe put down what products you used and where you got them just for less questions from folks. I read all the comments so I got all my questions answered. Lol😄 love love love it. I'm now a subscriber. You've got some great ideas. Looking forward to more. Thank you so much😊
Mary Kennedy awwwww thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and feel motivated to give it a go. Feel free to message me on fb if you have any questions. 🥰🥰

Beautiful work, thank you
Marvin Henrie anytime
great exactly what i was looking for because i printed out some photos from walmart Lab and i thought the photos were to thick? but i guess i can do ur technic thanks so much!
This was a great tutorial! Thanks a lot!
dcvmnaturalist god you liked it!!!
I am making some of these at home! I tried a photo transfer mod podge first! And it was great! But I like this idea better with the poster print, that way I don’t have to deal with rubbing off the dried mod podge! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Very nice!
This is a great video, thank you! Can the photo be written on for like a guest book board?
Beautiful
Wow this was amazing
Ty!!!
I have an need to do something a little different from my woodworking or Photography, so this encourages me to use both together. Thanks to your tutorials, I have gain the courage to give this a try. I played the video over a few times, and still missed why you rub your cut strips of photo across your leg! Why do you do this?
Thanks!
Genaro
Genaro Gomez oh to make sure i don’t have any trash on the back of it. Even the smallest specs will look like a huge bubble if it’s caught between the board and photo.
Lovely job!!!
Sonia Trott thanks so much!!!
This is the best I've seen
Kristy Helms so glad you like it!!!
Def need to try this!!! I can get all the free wood I want, because I live nearby a place that builds modular homes.
Love it!
Beautiful! This may be a silly question but could I use the wood from hobby lobby in the wood crafts section that has the hanger? They aren't near as big but for my first one I wouldn't mind starting small if that wood would work just as good!
Sorry just now seeing your question! I think it would be ok. Try to smooth the boards down as much as possible.
This is great!!! Do you use a photo on photo paper or is that an inkjet print?
Beautiful....Do you leave a small gap/space before you join the boards and what grit sandpaper do you use to sand of the edges?
I'm interested in this answer also!!
You make it look soooo easy. I’m almost done with my first frame, and I made it a lot harder than what it is. Lol! My hubs has helped me a lot. But he kinda went “wild” with the mod podge, So I’m hoping the stain will soak in properly. I’ll send u a pic when I’m done. ONLY if u promise not to laugh or “judge” and I promise I won’t judge your stain brush! 😂😉
Pennie Roehrs aww thanks 🙏🏻 im glad you enjoyed the video! Practice makes perfect!!! Glad you had your hubby to help~
Pink Sawdust LLC how long do u wait, after staining, to apply mod podge?
hour or 2. i do the picture first and then the outside edges
Your video tutorial is the BEST one describing exacting what I want my finished design to look like in the end. Thank you. Do you think I could stain/paint the brown in the cracks before making the panel?
Abby Carr probably so. Glad you liked it!!
Did you use 1 x 4 or 1 x 6 pine?
Never mind, I just watched your video on how to build the sign. Thanks again.
Abby Carr awesome! You bet!
I was wondering what you order for smaller prints, the posters at walmart start at 11 x 14 and I would like something smaller then that... is the paper the same on the 8 x 10 matte finished photographs?
Gary Norton yes they are. I Normally get the 8 x 8 but you can do the 8 x 10’s
Hello was wondering what type of wood did you use? Is it private fence pieces put together to make? What would I ask for if I went to Lowe’s? Thank you
These are 1x6’s 8 ft long. #2 pine. 👌🏻😉
Can we use hot iron to get dark marks on wood...?
Love you video! Question though can we stain the wood before apply picture and let it dry 24 hrs?
June C yes and touch up places after you sand the edges.
Thanks for the video. Can you stain the wood before putting the picture on?
Crystal Barber yea just make sure it dries overnight
Where do you make your cuts between the 2 lines?
Was this regular photo paper? Or how did u print ?
great vid ty, question, by putting more on top as a finish would the picture bubble up over time or stay smooth?
I made one 5 years ago and still looks amazing. You just have to make sure you rub all the trapped air out and excess glue carefully.
@@pinksawdustllc344 ty i will, yours looks great
can we use rasin instead of modge podge in the end for touch up?
I have the exact sander but just can not get pictures to look right? The sander is actually removing the color in the photo, is this what it is suppose to look like? Just looks odd to me? Maybe I am really sanding this correctly? Please advise.
just beautiful!!!!!!! my question is I just has some photo made up at Wal-Mart can I use them????? ty
i would say so! If they have a glossy finish they may be a little difficult to rub out bubbles but doable. Try using an old tshirt. Happy Crafting!
Tina Marie Malinowski m
Hi, I was wondering if the paper from a large, rolling print epson printer is thick enough quality. It isn't photo finish. It's matte. Do you think I would have an issue using this?
Stephanie Ali the paper i use is really thick. I honestly not 100% but don’t see it being a problem.
Do you do two lines ? And do you cut the two lines ?
I got a? Can you use any kind of Sander on the edges of the picture too make it blend
Manuel fimbres yes!!
Have you ever had the picture bubble after the project was completed, and it’s had a chance to dry? I’m wondering if my pallets weren’t dry enough. Thoughts?
hillsje yes have had bubbles. It’s awful. But if you apply a thin even coat and diligently rub out bubbles you’ll be fine. If you do happen to get a bubble before clear coating pop the bubble with something sharp like an exacting knife and heat it with a hair dryer
BEAUTIFUL!! Can you tell me what the life expectancy is for a piece like this? Thank you for sharing your talent.
Jim Nottingham so glad you liked it. I suspect it will last a lifetime. (As long as you take care of it and keep it out of the weather.)
I did this and it came out beautiful until I put the mod pidgin on top of the picture. It was a glossy pic and the lines dried white. Do you know why this is? Do I have to restart?
I love how you did this!! If you don't mind me asking, what is the size of this print? Also what is the size of the print in your other video? Thanks!
Bushcraft Warrior this is a 20x30 from the Walmart photo lab and the other is a 16x20 💜😉😉
Pink Sawdust LLC Awesome, thank you so much for getting back to me! 😊
What are the different stains that were used, in what order? It says early American and special walnut. I assume the early American is the base layer, and the special walnut comes around the outside edging/border. Am I correct?
hillsje yep
Love how your picture turned out, my question is, Did you let it dry before you put the modpog on ? And do you have to get the picture printed by a company ?
I let it dry a little. I use the Walmart photo lab and use the 1 hr pick up.
So awesome!!! At the end, don't you have to wipe off the mod podge like with a damp rag? Or does it dry with the mod podge on it like that? I don't think I've ever seen it done this way!!! great job!!
Brooke Parker thanks! Glad you like it. No you don’t have to wipe off the modpodge. It will dry clear as a clear coat on top of the picture. 😉
Have you tried using pallet wood for a more rustic look ?? And if so, how did it come out??
Eric Woody yes I’ve used old fence boards. And it looks awesome! You just have to sand it down good.
Eric Woody i tend to only use reclaimed wood for special orders and or personal orders because it is WORK disassembling pallets and storing wood etc.
What squeegee is that? You have a link? Is the end felt or rubber? Thank you
Jeannie Flores the end is felt and now i just use a putty knife with felt wrapped on the end.
What is the best method to rid air bubbles after the modge podge has dried..
David ...poke a hole in the bubble with a safety pin or exacto knife. Let it sit for an hour. If it doesn’t reside try heating the bubble with a hair dryer. Better to do before you clear coat. Hope this helps. Bubbles are a tricky tricky thing.
Help!!!! I accidentally did NOT print Matte from Walmart I did the gloss I didn’t realize until the photo was on there. Do I still use Matte Mod Podge? How do I get mine to turn out like yours?
How did yours turn out? I want to use a bigger size photo and vista print does not have matte.
Do you sand the wood before gluing the picture??
Kelly_BRAK yes. I try to get a smooth surface before glueing 😉
What hanger do u attach so ppl can hang it ?
Lisa Sharp i use eyelet screws and twist tie wire to the two screws for easy hanging.
Hi, great video! how did you attach the pieces of wood together?
heidi v with slats on the back. 😉
heidi v you can find that tutorial in my UA-cam videos.
can you use glossy paper or just matte paper?
Cori Drexler I’ve used glossy paper when printing 8x10’s from my personal computer and it makes it harder to rub out bubbles. But doable.
you dont recommend the photo glossy finish...which one do you recommend...and also the mod podge protect the photo instead of barnish..or there are different kind of mod podge...one
to glue the photo and the other to rub on the top of the picture to finish..
Sara Lopez the glossy finish is kinda tacky when trying to rub out bubbles. I get the matte finish.
Pink Sawdust LLC thanks
And yes i use the same mod poster for glueing the photo and clearcosting with it. I also use the matte mod podge. (Yellow label.) hope this helps!
What type of photo do you use and where do you get it?
Wal mart photo lab (or Walgreens) in a matte finish
Do I need to sand down the edges of the pic?
Sally Wences you don’t have to but i think it looks good.
I don't have an electric sanding machine. Can I use hand sand paper instead?
Sibylle Priestess yes it will just take a little more elbow grease and a little more time.
One more question: I would like to add some metallic chalk paint around the picture instead of stain (after the sanding). Will it stick to the Mod Podge?
i haven't used alot of metallic paint. However I have painted the canvas white first, applied the picture and then lightly sanded around the edges. It can be done both ways. However, it will be hard to paint the cracks once you have the picture down. And paint will be hard if not impossible to get off the picture. Hope this is helpful... I have a video tutorial coming on this soon. Thanks!
Did they write the forver & always on your photo
Had it added through the Walmart photo lab
For the picture to turn out not fuzzy when printed at Walmart, you said the camera used should be 2000 pixels. What type of camera did you use? Do you think a phone camera would work?
Tammie Montreuil yes. Most phones have decent enough cameras. But if you try to upload a screenshot the picture will not be great quality of you are tryin to enlarge it.
@@pinksawdustllc344 Thank you for the quick reply 😊 I truly appreciate it
Love your work!!
You bet!
How did you make the wooden canvass?
Delta Stickfort yes. Here is a tutorial for it. ua-cam.com/video/OxiW15HG9y8/v-deo.html
What color stains do you use?
Early American and special walnut on the edges
What grit sandpaper do you use?
chellebelle2011 80 grit
Pink Sawdust LLC thank you so much!!
chellebelle2011 you bet!
What kind of wood is it and what are the measurements of the wood? How thick the wood should be?
Silvia Martinez i use #2 pine from my local lumber yard. And they are 8 ft long 1x6’s that i cut down to size. Hope this helps! 😉
Pink Sawdust LLC thank you
Sorry another question, how do we order the picture at walmart?
Silvia Martinez no worries. Go to th Walmart photo lab. Chose prints them posters.
Can you put resin on this
Could you stain the wood first ?
Is there a reason why the picture has to be cut twice in the cracks? What would it look like if you only cut it once?
Abby Carr my personal opinion is it may look a little funny. Keyword “may”
I have a question, I made a few of them and after about a week they all have wrinkles in the pictures. Where did I go wrong?
chellebelle2011 this happened to me twice. It’s excess glue bunching up where you rub your credit card. Use the Walmart photo lab cause they have thick good quality paper and don’t over rub.
And don’t use too much glue. Hope this helps.
Pink Sawdust LLC thank you so much!!! I have looked at them a lot and I alto think that maybe my boards are shrinking because I live in SE Texas and it has been super humid and wet and I was doing them outside so I think maybe my boards were wet and shrunk back up once they had been inside for a week. Thank you so much for your help!
chellebelle2011 oh yeah. Definitely could be the cause. I’ve had boards i used and and when they shrank left big gaps in the wood. Best of luck!
Pink Sawdust LLC thank you for you advice and help I’m going to let the boards sit inside for like a week first now lol dang humidity
How thick is that #2 Pine?
Patty 1” thick which is really like 3/4”
Does she sans the edges of the picture down? Just need to clarify
Yes sorry for the late response. I use an orbital sander to sand the edges
If u resin it it would look awesome
Leon Torres resin?
Wow- Looks Great- I don't think I could do that - Thanks for sharing it.. How much does it cost for one that size
kathy elrick thanks chicka!!! Yeah ya could. If i can you can. 👌🏻
Steel wool is better to finish the rough parts.
Sondra Johnson ✅✅✅
When did you put the wording in
Leketha Cooper he wording is on the photo. Did it through the Walmart photo lab
How do you hang it?
LLK1169 i use eyelet screws on the back. One on each side. and then a twist a wire on each screw.
LLK1169 hope that makes sense. You can also use sawtooth hanfers
I think so. I'm new to crafting so I'm kind of clueless but I hope to give this a try. Great video, thanks! :)
LLK1169 look up eyescrews and you’ll see what I’m talking about. 😉😉 you can get wire in the craft aisle at Walmart by the jewelry.
hi...what color of wood finish did you used?thank you
do I have to tell them I want a certain printer paper ?
Sabrina Lebouef nope. I never do. They print on the same paper every time. Just use a matte finish.
How do I choose a matte finish I cant find it
Also I bought a printer but I'm so confused on why it wont work .
I dont wanna give up but I'm getting really frustrated lol
Sabrina Lebouef no don’t give up!! I can do a video and show how to do an order through WM photo lab if you want. Do you have fb? Facebook.com/pinksawdustllc
