  • Lufthansa is one of the leading airlines in the world. While they are now finally upgrading their long-haul fleet with the new Allegris product, they've already introduced a new service concept called "Tasting Heimat" in their short-haul Business Class, which should bring the German cuisine inspired by 6 different German cities to the sky. However, on this flight from Munich to Barcelona the realization of that cool concept was so bad. But have a look at it yourself and tell us what you think about it.

      I flew Lufthansa's Business Class to Edinburgh and back to Frankfurt last year and I was pretty disappointed from the meals.
      As a vegetarian, I always set my meal preference to "Vegetarian (Lacto + Ovo)" while booking my tickets, which means as much as that I'm a vegetarian who eats dairy and egg products. However, I got the exact same meal on both flights which consisted of a very small portion of a cold bean salad with a cold bun. It was not bad at all, but I could have eaten this ten times and would still have been hungry. Also the meal was more of a vegan meal than lacto + ovo.
      All in all, the ticket price was very cheap and I enjoyed the business lounge in the airport (although it didn't have that many meal choices), but for the flight itself it's really not worth upgrading.

    I remember flying Lufthansa on their Airbus A380 from Frankfurt (FRA) to New Delhi (DEL) in 2014. Even in economy their service was really good and the crew members were really kind and helpful. It's sad to see what's happening to Lufthansa now...

      Crew friendliness has nothing to do with the airline. Every airline has friendly and unfriendly staff, and I'm sure not all the rude crew members at Lufthansa magically appeared there in 2015.

      @@mstrmren It does have a role to play in the airline's reputation, you feel welcome onboard a plane with nicer crew members. I can agree that the crew may show different attitude on different flights of the same airline, but the general behaviour of the crew of any airline can always be noticed.

    I agree that no wifi and no USB sockets for a 2019 aircraft is uncompetitive.

    This is indeed a strange menue collection which you had. On my last flights with Lufthansa in 2021 and 2022 in Business Class I had food which was fitting to the cities. From my point of view the Tasting Heimat is a big improvement from the concept which Lufthansa had before. But if it comes to the choice of apple or chocolat then I always choose the cocoa fruit. 😁😁

    Flew Lufthansa's Business Class from Frankfurt to Tel-Aviv. We got hot food for lunch but it's just regular economy with the middle seat empty. Flight attendants were very nice. I was told that the seating is common for European Business Class.

    We’ve just flown into Alicante from Oslo on SAS plus, and no magazine, wifi was not working, food (breakfast) is mediocre as well, though at least they provided free chips, cashew etc in addition to the drinks. SAS no middle seat empty, packed biz class with no space, no curtain between biz and eco, pretty much of a scam like LH. But we’ve arrived safely so to speak.

    When it comes to buying upgrades online, correct if I’m wrong but I believe besides the bagagem allowance, your mileage accrual also remains as the original fare class, correct?!

      Thanks for watching. Regarding the mileage. I just looked it up at my Miles and More account and I got mileage for Business booking class P. So you get actually more miles than on your original Economy Class ticket.

    LOL „Tasting Heimat“ ist wohl eher „tasting cheapness“ dem Austeilen von Äpfeln nach zu urteilen 😂 Also für die Business Class gibt es da SAFE bessere Airlines für ein angemessenes Preisleistungsverhältnis. Aber trotzdem sehr gute Arbeit von euch 👏🏻🎉

    Great review! At least Lufthansa still offers a short haul business class. Many European carriers don't. But I agree that a hot meal should have been served if passengers are paying a significant percentage more than they would for economy. The concept of the catering service is a good idea but the fact that its all just fakery isnt really acceptable. Also, I thought the apple thing was a bit bizarre.

      Thats the point. The european Business Class on Lufthansa flights is often not mich more expensive than the Eco Classic fare. Sometimes it is only 40 or 50 € and if you are lucky then the Business Class ticket is cheaper than the Eco ticket. Therefore I mostly just fly Business Class in Europe. Only if the one way fare is 100 € or more expensive than the Eco Classic, then I will not spend the money.

    Thanks for publishing. Partly I (dis-)agree with you. The main dish isn’t representing the origin destination. The apple is served quite good. For hygiene standards and the tiny rubbish this cardboard totally makes sense😃.

    Nice video! But I can assure you that Lufthansa’s meal - heimat or nicht heimat - is far superior to anything offered by any airline here in the States. On a two hour flight in business class, you will receive a cookie with coffee.

But I’d be thrilled to receive the Lufthansa meal. Ok, their marketing is a bit “falsch und feig,” but otherwise seems quite nice 😀

    This is so ice compared with a recent KLM business class flight in Europe. It was terrible with no bread, meat, fish or cheese and served in this ridiculous box with wooden knife and fork, disgusting for a business class product

    That has nothing to do with business class. Some Asian economy products are much better than that.

      You are right, but then we are talking about different prices and cultures. Food is in Asia much more important than in Europe or US and therefore the airlines offer even on shorter routes a quite good food. I was several times flying with Royal Brunei and Silk Air in Business Class and they offer even warm food on a 2 hour flight. Last time I got even an amenity kit on Royal Brunei´s flights from Singapore to Bandar. But the thing is those flights cost 600+ € while you pay with Lufthansa moste time not more than 400 €.
      But in the LH Group Austrian has a really good C product and there you will get warm food even on a flight less then 2 hours.

      @@timoswindowseat7045 the thing is, in Asia you get a warm meal even in economy class on short flights, and you can choose at least from 2 options. In European business class you can choose to eat or not to eat cause mostly there are no options but a single cold snack.
      If you wanna compare business - business dont forget that you get a real seat or even a flat bed instead of a camping chair with blocked middle seat
      Same thing you can see within Europe, too. Compare a flight on LHs business class to IST and same flight in TKs economy class - TK offers the better onboard product

      @@Mario-ch9nl Yes, that's true that TK offers a better C product but the price is now much more than LH has in the C. The same was always with Aeroflot. They hat also the better product in Eco and Business Class but the price in Eco was always more that with LH and the Business Class was most times 800 € or more for the flight from Germany to Moscow. If you pay more than double price compared to LH then the product should be much more better. DUS-AYT is for example now in C more than 800 € with TK in mid of September. For Swiss to AGP in Summer holidays I pay for almost similar distance only 600 €. TK has maybe the better onboard product and the better Lounge I. Istanbul but the rest of flying experience is much more worse that what LH, Swiss or Austrian offer. If your connection time is a bit tight you are lost in Istanbul. There is no direct transfer to the next departing gate and not even somebody is waiting at the arrival gate to guide passengers with only short time of connection. I am not booking any flight with less than 2 hours connection time there. Better you have 3 hours, then there is at least a bit time to go to the Lounge. Depending on which gates you fly in Istanbul during a 2 hour connection time you will not see the lounge, because there is no time for it.

    Well I guess why the price for upgrade is cheaper than the actual business class. I don't think the big thinkers up there would intentionally market it that way if it were really good. I'm sure they would have known of the price "difference"
