  • Should you buy a professional push block or make yourself a push block DIY? I’ll tell you the results of my test at the end of the video.
Is it worth the money buying one or can a shop-made DIY push block be just as good? I built lots of different push block designs and tested them in different settings. At the end, you get a clear recommendation if you should spend money on a push block or if you can just as well build your own DIY push block.

I want to let you know that I cooperate with a couple of tool companies. Occasionally, they provide me with some of their tools for me to use in the shop.

Dank für die Tipps, Andreas! Now it's time to build some push blocks myself, as I finally bought my band saw at Maschinenhandel Meyer. :-) Einen schönen Sonntag noch!

Interesting results! Will remeber at the next diy-pushblocks :-) And YES: No metall in a pushblock!
    Hope to see you again!

Thanks for an interesting video! I made my own push blocks that I use mostly with my jointer. They have grippy material underneath (from a mouse mat). They work well but as you say, the grippy stuff does become contaminated by sawdust so will need to be replaced sometime.

Great video. Love seeing Rob's Workshop shirt. They're still available on TeeSpring.NL I miss his channel. I think a combination of push blocks is best. The research & development and very functional materials make the Gripper thing at least close to how much it costs. I think it's probably the best kind of plastic for the job. I like a long two handle push block with a heel for jointing.

Nice video, I miss Rob's videos. I don't see the downside of using the 80 grit sandpaper for everything. As long as you are in the machining/non-finished stage of woodworking I don't see the sandpaper doing any damage.

I sort of agree for unfinished surfaces. But even a sawed surface can be quite smooth and then the rubber grips better.

  • @Dragonited
    @Dragonited 4 роки тому

I don't know if you have to replace the rubbery surface when it gets dusty. It's probably enough to wash it off and it will be good again.

Yes, that might be enough. Thanks for your feedback, Martin.

    Hallo Andreas,
super tolle Sache.
