The advanced version sounds absolutely stunning! Your notes flow perfectly, the solo is also funky, it's all great. I have two years experience on my Alto Sax, and my teacher says that I'm her best player yet. Can't wait to buy the score and play it to impress my class! The hard part isn't playing it, it's buying it. 😅
Thanks! You can get access to all the scores when you become a premium member, you can sign up here: www.onlinesaxacademy.com/membership-plans I hope that helps! Any questions just let me know.
I just stumbled into your channel yesterday being the 29th day of August, 2022. I have discovered a very useful resources on my journey to becoming a saxophonist
¡Muy bien maestro! excelente trabajo! ya pude tocar en mi Saxofón la versión de principiante Thank you very much teacher, good job!, thanks to you I was able to play the beginner version 🙂
Hey man, love all your vids especially the scales exercises. If you can for future songs explain what chords or scales are you using for the solos would be very helpful. Thankss!!
Sure, I do this in a few of the videos, however for some of the advanced versions there’s quite a lot in there, however if you check out the practical music theory course and the learn to improvise course on my site that will help explain a lot of the concepts used.

Thank you Paul. Do you play the tenor at all? I have just started adding tenor during the past year (I'm an alto player too). I notice that the transcription for the tenor isn't always what you are playing on the alto. It would be nice to hear some of these songs on the tenor. Cheers!
Hi Shannon, I have played a bit of tenor in n the past, at the moment I don’t and specialise on alto but it is something I’ve been thinking about as the channel grows. Your right, I think it would be good to demonstrate on tenor too.
Such a great tune! However, for the life of me, not quite sure why it’s such an uppity melody! If you listen to the words, it’s a little dark and sad…to that end, listen to Eva Cassidy’s version of it…captures the tune perfectly, in my mind…sounds great on the alto too!!
Thanks, it’s true that the original tune is more of a ballad. Jazz musicians have taken this and used it a vehicle for improvising at all kinds or tempos and feels.
This is so awesome, Thamkyou so much! I am a beginner, but now moved on to your intermediate version of Autumn leaves, but I stumble into a problem, I cant get smooth tone shifting from D# to F#. I practiced several days now only those 2 notes to get my fingers release at same time, improving, but still not good. Do you have any tips on this?
Thanks! Try to keep you hand relaxed, keep you fingers close to the keys, don’t press too hard, practice slowly first and make sure the weight of the sax is supported by your neck strap and not your right hand.
You are super amazing, keep up the good work. Can I get to know you for , so that I can arrange for an online class with more direct focus on how to learn the saxophone step by step. Thanks Godswill from Nigeria
Super !! Thank you very much, you are amazing and your videos are awesome!! Have a question, I'm beginner and want to know in which Key are you playing the song? Muchas gracias!!
Hey Paul. Absolutely love your work and a subscriber. In the beginner sheet music for Autumn Leaves there is a # symbol in bar 15 next to F. Is this even necessary? It confused me a little because the piece is accented in G major.
Hi Daniel, strictly speaking it doesn’t need to be there as the key signature covers it. Sometimes the music writing program I use adds unnecessary accidentals (I must have missed this one). But you’re right, it doesn’t need to be there.
Hello! Ive been playing for only a couple days and am attempting the begginers track and i have one major question. HOW DO YOU GET SUCH A BEAUTIFUL, JAZZY, DRAWLING SOUNDING C*!! Mine sounds like a dying goat, the other notes i play sound fairly similar to yours, do you know the problem? Im using a friends sax that is worth around 800£ however the reeds are a couple years old for extra info, thanks!!
Hi Max, tone development is quite a big topic and can take months/years to develop. I would recommend getting control of the low notes on your sax first, I have a few videos on my channel that have some workouts to help with this, you’ll find that gaining control of the low notes really helps your overall tone. Be patient with it, it takes time!
