  • We got to spend a great long weekend aboard Boogaboo and was happy to get a chance to wash the residual winter/road dust grime off the boat. And yes, I also went for Pump-Out #2 for the season, as we had the kids and grandchildren visiting on Mother's Day, with the little kids fascinated with flushing the toilet on the boat at every opportunity ;-)
    For a look at all of the projects I've done (continue to do) on this beautiful Sea Ray Sundancer, as well as on our previous boats, have a look at nearly 100 projects in my 'How I Did It - Boat Repairs And Upgrades' playlist, here; • How I Did It - Boat Re...
    Be sure to check out the rest of our 'Summer Cruise 2022' series, as we cruised for 5-1/2 weeks through much of Ontario, Canada's lovely 240 mile/386 km Trent Severn Waterway and even reaching the Rideau Canal for a few days! Full playlist can be found here; • Summer 2022 Cruise

      Although Jeff and Mary are newbies to the cruising boating lifestyle, they have no fear to literally jump into the bilge and start fixing things!
      Of course, it often appears that he's conned her into doing the heavy lifting on the more challenging projects - but I guess that's what First Mates are for 🤣

      @@BoatingWithBoogaboo I remember this episode and I actually have the same adhesive that I used somewhere else. I totally forgot that I could have used it on the bow for the Sun pad snaps. Thanks for the reminder

      Happy to help, but this product isn't an adhesive, but a two part epoxy which dries hard (as hard as the gelcoat/fibreglass). I've had great success with it on a number of projects over the years, including as a replacement for rotten balsa coring on our 400 Sedan Bridge. Makes a good foundation to accept screws.

    I laughed out loud during the grand daughter story. I went through that with all 3 of our grandsons! For some reason, the toilet on the boat was a big feature for them too. They loved flushing it. So, i get the quick turnaround on the pumpout! Great memories.

      When we were looking to buy this boat last year, we came across a couple that had the Sea Dek already installed on them. If had had bought one of those ones, the first thing I would have done was get rid of that material!!! I cannot stand the look or feel of that stuff and have actually turned down an offer to have it installed for free. Not a fan!

    Boat really looks sharp without the stripe at the waterline. Would like to do that to ours but the hull is colored and I'm afraid there might be some noticeable fading

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Рік тому

      I also removed the pinstripes on the deck which really improved the look (IMO). We were lucky that this boat had been regularly detailed by the previous owner(s?), so there was no noticeable colour fade. That said, if I look really closely where I removed the pinstripes, I can see that the gelcoat is somewhat raised from not being subjected to polishing. I told Anchor Girl that it's like having a custom embossed racing stripe 😂

    Community boaters. Need a little help.
    Paul love all the videos.
    Have a 2000 FourWinns twin 454 Volvo. Port motor not running right. Cuts out around 2800 rpm. Just had oil change and new fuel filters. Anyone thoughts?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Рік тому

      Could be any number of things, probably best left to a qualified marine mechanic to diagnose.
      That said, we experienced the exact same symptoms on our old 24' Sea Ray, back when we started our boating life, 25 years ago. At that time, I hadn't begun doing my own repairs and had the mechanics at our (at the time) marina try to fix it. A new fuel pump, full tune-up, etc., etc., and bills totaling $3,000, still no luck. At that point, they were attempting to replace the fuel pickup line in the gas tank when the actual and simple problem was finally discovered - a small piece of foam in the tank!!!
      It appears that a previous owner had replaced the fuel sender and while doing that job, he cut back some of the buoyancy foam (that Sea Ray put in their boats back in the 70's) and a piece fell in the tank. That piece was big enough to jamb the fuel line when the draw was high (when at medium or higher throttle), but not too small that it was getting stuck. When throttle was dropped - or the engine stalled due to fuel starvation - that piece of foam simply fell away.
      Ultimately, a very frustrating and expensive diagnosis that was spread over 3-4 weeks!!
      The good news was that from that point on, I decided to start attempting to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on our boat myself. Here we are 25 years hence and I love working on the boat - in case you didn't pick up on that 😉
      Good luck!!

      Thanks, Talked to the local mechanic here… Appleton WI… Said he thinks start with a water pump. Guess there is a safety switch in there somewhere…. That around 2500/2800 rpm if the water pump not 100% the motor will cut out. So new water pump for both motors coming soon. Ugh. Wish us luck.
