  • In this video I am disassembling and cleaning a centrifugal oil filter on my 1985 Belarus MTZ-102 diesel tractor. I am also replacing the oil filter gasket and an o-ring on the inner housing.

If you don’t have any screen and you think more has disappeared, then it’s probably down in the engine. The filter/screen should be in good shape to filter properly.
Great tutorial on how to take everything apart. Thanks!

The oil pressure and vane'd metal top spin the assembly, they're a great filter when properly working. Great video

On top of your screen should be a plate. When you put the cover over the rotor it has small marks that must line up it it won't work. When you shut the tractor off you should hear the filter continue spinning. Not the very outer cover the one where you need a screw driver. Must line up with notch on rotor. They are very small. Once lined up scribe a better mark. If it's not spinning after it's not working. Is order a screen and on top of the impeller is a metal plate with a hole that fits over the shaft. When it's working the inside walls will be caked with gunk. We had ours for a long time before we figured this out.

This is good to know, it is not mentioned in the service manual.

@@nothandsomebuthandy I'm doing mine right now. For some reason I had the washer that goes under the cap nut under the little nut inside that's inside. That's why I looked up this video. Everyone is unaware of these marks. It does say it in my manual. I wish I could send or post a pic. Says line up the marks scribed on rotor cover with boss for balance. Boss is the thing your holding with screw driver. Good video but that important part needs added.

@aaroncortney819 interesting, what manual do you have? I have the original manual from Belarus (in Belarusian) and the service manual from MTZ Equipment Canada

@@nothandsomebuthandy it's a Belarus manual in English And have another that's the exploded view of parts in several languages and difficult to use. It shows nothing but pictures with a number them you find the number in the back to find what part is called.
