not really you buy as you go. You buy a basic kit. recorder/boom mic/4 wireless and your set. Doesnt have to be lectros. Senn or Sony will work. But make sure you buy cos-11 lavs. You can get them used. They you just keep on buying here and there. You work and gain experience at the lower level. This kit he has is overkill and he is most likely union.

You take baby steps, you might start out with only $10K worth of equipment (or even less! More than a few of us have started out with just "a Zoom on a broom....") then you skip ahead by a decade and suddenly you find you've accumulated $100K of equipment somehow??

can someone explain why analogue wireless systems are not the way to go anymore?

    • @shockmountiso

because of AES output.you can change everything on post production if it is digital record.

There not, outside the super highend

    • @Tappits84

@@shockmountiso No, the way the digital systems work is by converting the analog signal to digital then sending it over to the receivers and the receivers can either keep it as a lossless digital out or back to analog depending on your needs. All audio recording is done digitally now, all the highend transmitters allow is minimizing the amount of steps involved by outputting the uncompressed pcm signal directly

It is because there is so much wireless stuff in use now (cellphones) that it's tough to get a clean signal. A digital signal has a smaller footprint, you can fit more channels into a smaller space, hence the move to digital.

All well and good....until some one fucks off with your van. Happened to a pro last year. Thieves stole his van. He lost 130 grands worth of kit. A kickstarter campaign raised him 9 grand, but he had to start again. Really felt bad for him though.

@@MR-jd1yo No. Don't know why. It would be difficult getting insurance on that I'd imagine.
