I was more afraid of that horrifying fucking flute than Witchypoo.

The Mr. Show bit is "The Altered States of Drugachusetts". A sketch I come back to often as it's clearly satirical but at the same time made with appropriately corney reverence for this special era of kid's TV.

I may have to watch Forbidden Zone again. I'm really starting to dig the "Nothing New" concept of allusion building into loose narratives aesthetic from Mystic Knights of Oingo Bongo. The Kroffts were similar in how they cobble together allusions to make something new.

That time loop ending is genius they should have used something like that for Star Trek TOS imagine seeing the end of the five year mission only for it to start all over again. Genius! The Land of the Lost was never shown in the UK so when the movie came out I was surprised to see it was based on a fantasy show I'd never heard of.

Mighty Max was an excellent show that ended in a perfect loop like Land of the Lost. It was closure but also cool.

There was a Syd & Marty Kroft Land in Atlanta in the Omni hotel complex in the early 70s. Took up like two floors IIRC. I only remember the Pinball Ride being AWESOME.
EDIT: Oh. I think the answer to all your questions about 'why didn't they do more?" is the thing I just mentioned. They lost so much money on the Kroftland.

Half the runtime for this show is the intro! So funny. I loved it as a kid but as an adult it’s like wtf this goes on forever! Pretty sure mamma cass was in the movie.
