This is up there with Vesperia for me, Im not done yet but its been such a sweet little gem
Tales of Hearts DS actually had two version of the exact same game but one was the anime version with the exact same character art and the other CG version... the one we don't talk about to be forever forgotten. You could actually pick which version you wanted when you bought the game, so if you ever pick up an ebay copy of the DS version you need to make sure it's not the CG version lol
Thanks for the info!! 😄
I really appreciate seeing your perspective on this game. I'd always ignored Hearts when I saw the, uh...odd art style lol but R has been spoken so highly of in recent years that I've considered giving it a go after all. After I finish Legendia - which has been on my backlog for waaaay too long - I'm sinking my teeth into this for sure. Really intrigued to see how Kohaku, in particular, develops as we restore her heart.
It’s so exiting going through the journey of finding Kohakus shards! I think you will really love the R version. Thank you for watching 😄
Good review 😌👍👍
I really miss this game. This game was the third most fun tales game for me.
That’s funny it’s the 3rd for me as well🤣 thank u for watching!!
Good review
I absolutely am really intrigued and fascinated about this, especially on the combat side of things (and the Mechanics you mentioned here and in our collab 👀), definitely am considering on playing it one day.
And I look forward to your next Tales adventure
Thank you my dude 🙏 I think you’ll love the combat of this game
Thank you so much for this lol!!! I originally played this game upon it’s release here in America, I had gotten so far but then sadly the vita was stolen, and I was so angry I didn’t seek out another one for years. I finally got ahold of another recently and am downloading this game now since carts are hard to find and wanted to find a modern review, since times change, along with trends, taste, etc. basically I’m saying that modern relevant reviews MATTER, just like everything else, reviews can also become dated and out of touch! So I’m happy you’ve provided that lol
This comment made me so happy. I’m glad u got exactly what u we’re looking for with this video :) love reviewing both old and new game’s
Glad to see your appreciation for Hearts as I feel it is a very underrated title in the series
Thank you for watching!! :) one of my fav Tales games now
Great review as always Sweis! I still need to get into the Tales series but I just haven't had the time to invest in a long JRPG recently. Hopefully I get a chance soon!
Thanks for watching my dude 😄 I see you been on the YT grind keep it up bro :)
@@SweisSenpai No problem my dude! And yeah I've been on the grind, and I'm loving every second of it lol thanks bro, I definitely will 😄
I’m playing it now. I feel so bad for Kohaku, so it’s pushing me to move forward. (I am liking it, though.)
Great review! Just FYI, there WAS actually an anime version of the original Hearts on DS, they just also made a CGI version alongside it. (I think they were trying to experiment on whether they should move away from the anime side or something, idk)
Ohhh gotcha!! Thanks for that, also thanks for watching Sista 😄 Abyss videos coming soon👀
@@SweisSenpai awesome, can’t wait!! 👀👀
Would love a port of this and tales of destiny director's cut and 2
BOTH YES
This is such a facinating game, especially with the many different versions. The original on the DS having two versions, an anime version and a CG one, the CG one replacing the anime FMVs with CG ones done in a similar style to that of Final Fantasy. Realistic looking charcater designs animated using motion capture. For what its worth, the animation during these scenes is actually really well done. The textrues are nocely detailed and some of the charcaters actually translate rather decently to this realictic style. It jusat doesnt really fit the Tales series, which has always had its roots stapled in the aniome aeshetics. Because of that, i do prefer the anime movie version. As for this and the DS version, theres actually a few differecnes i had spotted when playing both versions. For example, in the beginning village porition, in the remake Shing just finds Kohaku, encountering Hisui later in the firest on your way to the shrine. In the DS version though, you actually find both siblings washed up on shore, all three of them heading to the shrine. Not only that but theres also an extra bit of interaction where Shing fights off some monsters, with Hisui being far from impressed. Im honwslty pretty interested looking into both versions of the game and getting to spot how many differences there really are.
This is why im so frustrated that the only fan translation of tales of hearts ds got cancelled because of the remake announcement but they really are two entirely different games
Very good review
Hey thanks so much!
Pkgj babyyyy
Wish star ocean 6 had this game's AI
For real, game is great but the AI oof
It isn't a proper jrpg if there isn't some kind of a skill tree. lol
