Just like in the beginning of watersport foiling, it was a little clumsy, but proved the possibilities. Look at the supper high aspect front wings they’re riding on now, so much glide on a small wing. Just think of the possibilities of flying those types of wings in the air! So Psyched, keep pushing!!!
It’s an impressive achievement. Once you develop this further, you should be able to achieve much longer flights and maybe try ridge soaring. The acid test will be if you can manage a circuit or turn in lift. Keep up the work. Well done.
Lange hab ich auf die Umsetzung einer solch tollen Idee gewartet. Freut mich. Die Gleitzahl ist etwa 3,7, also um 40% besser? Habt Ihr ein Hochauftriebsprofil verwendet? Ist die Reynoldszahl angepasst, gab es Flow-Simulation? Das wäre schon top interessant. Tolle Idee, toller Einsatz, mach weiter, habe fun😊
One might think this would have a military application such as enabling troops to fly over rivers and minefields and such. The idea is that these could be used to put troops a few miles behind enemy lines and not so much deeper penetrations so that hey could be lanced a mile of so back from the front line and fly a mile or two or such behind enemy lines. They could be employed at night to make them harder to spot and shoot down as well if penetrated heavily defended air spaces. Also UAVs could be deployed to fly back the air suit once a man has landed behind enemy lines so that additional soldiers could employ them as well to reinforce the first wave of airborne troops. This might be dangerous, but airborne operations have typically always have been dangerous such as parachute and glider assaults in WW2.

except for the fact that this incredible advertising is pushing a product that is actually worse for you than cigarettes. Its a shame that kids are drinking more redbulls than ever before because of the genius marketing.
@sasportspress2332 but I bet Disney will sue 🤣 or you'll need to give them most all thr money you'll get from views because I'm sure it will be a hit 🤣
There's clearly the parachute to think of and maybe some good lift gains having them strapped to the front to be in the clean air but, this is tantalisingly close to buzz lightyear wings.
Given the separation from the pilot, I'm pretty sure it is in clean air either way. Yes, the parachute placement is important, but the height of the CG makes a huge difference. The wing above the pilot would act like a lot of dihedral (more stable), and below the pilot is like anhedral (more sensitive). I wonder why not both, and ditch the wingsuit altogether?
What they're going for is glide ratio so I don't see why they didn't use a MUCH higher aspect wing than that. That's how you fly further over a longer time using the same initial / potential energy..... IE a higher glide ratio.
sweet spot of not much surface area, he has to over power the wing to steer , too big a wing (that added wing not his silly batman cape ) he'll end up a passenger /need a rudder system .
This is like hang gliding with a fat bloke for a pilot…. I should know, 30 years ago my landing speed was faster than I could run…. Coughs and says “high wing loading” as the eternal excuse for lack of skill and bottle…..
Helicopters? Lol. Follow him with drones. Drone pilots could stay with him. Also, give him a smoke trail so viewers can more easily follow his trail, ups, downs, stalls, etc.
Beautiful flight. But, I must admit, a tiny bit of cheating. However, a great archievement. Maybe some technical details? What about glideratio? Speed? Sinkrate? I'm an old pilot. Not bold anymore. So definitely not on my to do list anymore. Bummer.
The actual record is that bicycle glider with like a hundred foot wingspan that stays up for hours, not this costume stuff. Paragliders...? Wtf about those?

Why are people hating? This is just like snowboarding skateboarding surfing but for the air its cool af
Because people who do this sport have very short lives.
Hating because these guys claimed to beat all the wingsuit records, but did it by strapping a mini hang glider to his chest.
@@binomesprite7829 and why should someone care who doesn't even know these guys personally? People really forgot how to mind their own business

Really cool
“Airfoiling is rad, bro.” - Orville Wright
12.5 km horizontal on a 3.4 km drop. That an amazing ratio of travel. I see this without knowing paragliding or lw glider for reference
4:1 is fairly consistent for wingsuits already
This was freaking awesome!
👏👏👏 Heck Ya!!
Not seen this before , crazy cool invention
Very cool, congratulations.

This is called a hangglider.
@@RowOfMushyTiT Nope, it's not.
Now add a ducted fan in the middle of the foil!
Looks amazing well done have fun 🐿️

Can not get much closer to flying then this, without some sort of propulsion device.

Pretty awesome. I wonder if we can make a windsuit that is able to be controlled by remote control for anybody can do this?
Good job, buddy,,im tired was classic thing to say,,,yes
Amazing how stable it is! Very cool! I wonder if he could fly a foil without the wingsuit?
He's just a hang glider now.
WRONG
@@ValerieBoyco Well thought out and articulated rebuttal
Hang glider big, he small!
i need to see someone with buzz light year wing suit

Super cool but at what point does this become hang gliding?
When he takes off the foil, and the wingsuit, and goes hang gliding. With a hang glider.
when he lands it
Any reason why they went with the wing below the person and not above (on their back)?
Looks like wingsuit flying and hanggliding are getting close...
Now he just needs to complete a water landing with it
Wow thats amazing! Does the foil have an emergency cut away?
Im having thought's of crafting something like that for a base tube of my hang glider! I wonder how much lift it would produce at 40 to 50 mph?
Wow, what a great idea. We have wings here for a century. ;))
What is the angle with and without wing?
Great idea ! 😎
This dude is doing something interesting by combining wing suits and hang gliders. I hope he figures it out and can do it safely enough to stay alive.
Soaring like the eagle.

What is the glide slope of this rig?
3.7:1

Was he generating lift?
Yes. Both the suit and the attached foil.
Embrace Human Flight
BaseWe are getting closer to base take off and landing.
Couple more tweaks and they gonna rediscover hang gliding
in the end they will finally invent the sailplane...
It's not really a wingsuit, is it? It looks like a man in a squirrel suit riding on a pole-glider, the inverted cousin of the hang-glider.
Is it just me or did RB just start getting phone calls from special forces around the globe….. 😁
A glide ratio of 3:1 isn't any better than non-foil wingsuits......
It looks like it calculatdes out to about 3.7:1 but yeah, not much of a difference. But it's a good proof of concept, I suppose.
Um. So that’s cool! 😲😎👌

Agreed, I’m very curious to know what distance was travelled as well as the overall time in the air.
