  • Airshowvision proudly present the awesome ex. cold war nuclear bomber - the Avro Vulcan B2 XH558.
This aircraft was saved from the scrapheap by the Vulcan to the Sky trust, headed by Robert Pleming, and after years of restoration and fund raising, made its airshow return at Waddington exactly 3 years ago.
This display is flown by top Vulcan display pilot Kevin Rumins, who easily otperforms all the other vulcan display pilots, with his crowd thrilling wingover manouvers.
Waddington airshow 2011 wasn't a classic, but this aircraft wowed the crowds and upstaged the rather disappointing USAF Thunderbirds, who still haven't discovered coloured smoke it seems?
This video is uploaded especially for my good friend Jim Connoly, ex Vulcan serviceman, walking encyclopedia on the Vulcan and extremely nice chap.
Enjoy this fine aircraft while it still flies, and if you wish to donate to the upkeep, please visit the vulcan website for details...

I have seen men close to tears from watching this aircraft over the last 2 or 3 years, it is a stunning sight when the sun hits it and the colours come out.

Just beautiful. I saw this bomber once in my life when i was 8 years old, 40 years ago fly over my house. It was on a U.S. tour. Still makes my jaw drop.

Awesome footage! The Vulcan is absolute amazing and a beautiful piece of british engineering! A truly Icon of aviation history. Also nice to hear the commentator Sean Moffet, which I met 2009 at the Sanicole Airshow in Belgium (when the Vulcan has one of his only two appearances in central europe). Thanks for sharing. BIG LIKE!!! :-)

I"m sure few will argue that, along with the Spitfire's losenge shaped wings, the revised Vulcan wing shape must be the most graceful and aesthetically pleasing wingforms humans have ever made.

No problem - pity we didn't see the mighty beast at Wadd this year, but plenty of action from Waddington 2012 coming on airshowvision channel soon!

Exactly - preserving the airframe. Roly Falk (not sure about the spelling - so apologies up from) did roll the Vulcan at it first appearance at the Farnborough Air Show. The film of it on You Tube - look up Vulcan Roll. He also blew out the factory windows (the noise of the beast) when he brought it back over the factory who made it.

I remember vividly standing on the QRA pan at the 05 end of the runway at Scampton in 1963 or 4 during HM the Queen's visit. 4 B2 Vulcans were QRA scrambled. The noise was so intense I never heard the photographer behind me. 4 aircraft were on the runway at 1 time. The 1st doing a classic right turn out as the last one was about to v2. I have a picture of that still, taken by the Queen's official photographer, with a pic of me inset.

Not only that. It made the Argies move all their fast jets further away from the Falkands for safety and to be able to defend Argentina itself. Fantastic A/C. I donate whatever I can on occasion.

I used to see these all the time flying out of RAF Waddington, they used to do circuits and bumps, a circuit would take them out as far as Newark.

It was a great bomber. I always enjoyed talking to the Vulcan crews in the eighties. It was the Vulcan and the F-111 that the Russians feared during the Cold War.

What a great vid. Notice the high Alpha landing. Vulcans had no flaps and used brake chutes during landing runs as well as high alpha. Watched one come in at Scampton once and the chute failed. Should have seen the smoke from the wheels. Fire section was right there to put the fire out. I was close, standing QRA static on B dispersal.

The old bird still scrubs up well.
If you want to help keep this old lady flying go to (No spaces) Vulcan to the sky . org
With luck future generations will not have to watch video footage to see what a beautiful aeroplane the Vulcan was!

It's an amazing design. A pity that bad decisions made in the 1960s killed off the British aviation industry, along with its know-how.

So she cost £2,000,000 a year to run, how much is that to a government? they should pay to keep her flying, I have read that illegal immigrants cost us £3.7 BILLION a year, I don't want to start a political argument but I am just putting things into prospective, and Wayne Rooney could pay to keep this wonderful sister of the Lancaster flying for a year in just 1.5 months of playing football.
