I DO agree...Albany is an underrated little treasure..new york(state) and places like Buffalo and Rochester(well known for his spiritual thing with Fox sisters) are quite amazing too.
Looks so historic and clean. I live in Austin. Austin has become an expensive, crime ridden crowded dirty city with the never ending heat and humidity. One day, maybe I can come to Albany.
@@shellyscholz1256 but you can’t take the fact away that Albany has nice architecture. It’s an architects heaven for sightseeing. The only problem is that these landmarks stand out as an eyesore. They need to add more buildings or taller structures to surround these landmarks while complimenting the architectural aesthetic of it.
@@shellyscholz1256 i ve lived in both Austin Texas and Albany New York . Albany is much better in crime rate and life style and cleanliness when compared to places in Texas .
I'm from Ireland and I was there in 2006 the last time. I have a huge amount of relations in this part of New york. I'd love to go back, very found memories there that summer.
What's funny is my ancestors came from Ireland and settled in Troy NY in the Albany area, before my great grandfather left and went to Maryland that's where all of the Irish side of my family lived.
I had literally never heard about this city before today. At the same time I also found out it is the capital of the state of New York, which I had always just assumed was New York city. But what a beautiful city this is. I'd love to live here.
Actually Albany is only one part of the area of 3 great cities (Tri Cities Area: Albany, Schenectady & Troy), each with their own unique history, downtown areas and adjoining suburbs.
Some of us here in Albany call it the non City because it is so nice to live here without the crowds of bigger city's but with all the amenities since it is the Capitol of NY The whole capitol region has only 1 million people and Albany itself just 100,000 I can call or even just show up and be seated in a top quality restaurant with out a weeks notice Much more that the repeated pics of memorials depicted here, Albany has world class theater, concert halls, museums and restaurants. Wednesdays, thru the summer, world class acts perform at the Empire State Plaza and on Thursdays "Alive at 5" in the Corning preserve also brings top artists. All free... Also if you must crave more people:... New York city, Montreal, Boston, Cape cod are all less than 3 hours away

Huhhh?? I live in Albany, and it’s a DUMP!!!! It never looks this clean 😂 downtown is a mess, lots of streets that I hate walking on, tons of homeless people harrassing you for some money and flip shit if you don’t (via driving). Yeah the Empire State plazas/state buildings are nice, but that’s just a tiny piece. College kids everywhere during fall time which means lots of frat party’s and garbage everywhere.
Your history seems to be correct, but the visual never matches the narration. Why not show the areas you're describing? And you filmed at Empire State Plaza, but never said anything about it. Do you know anything about Albany, yourself? I mean anything more than glancing at the Wikipedia page for more than five minutes. You need more footage, too. More than up and down Western Ave and the government buildings on State St and Washington Ave.
M K, thank you for your comment and interest. I don't even want the areas shown to be described. I wouldn't be able to, I only spent an hour in Albany, and I found it fascinating.
Albany is not underrated at all. It’s a run down city with a downtown that is more or less empty, with shops that nobody goes to. The only good thing Albany has is the crossgates mall, which is a pretty nice mall. Outside of that, Albany is lame.
I used to live in Woodlake Apartments, right across the street from the mall and SUNY Albany (still its official name, by the way). I loved the area, and the people.
@@purplesprigs Albany is boring in my opinion. Nothing much goes on there compared to other parts of the country. Is my dream to visit Austin.... Stevie Ray Vaughan's home town in Austin Texas. My favorite guitar player.
Albany is not clean and beautiful, these clips are avoiding the violence and record numbers of condemned buildings.
Like how Hartford is the Capital of Connecticut and is the most violent, poverty stricken city in the state and not Stamford.
