All we have to do is look at his public behavior throughout history to accept that Mary knows what she’s talking about.
Having grown up in a similar family structure with someone who was devoid of empathy, obsessed with money...to the point of stealing and financial abuse of those around her, and sadistic in her cruelty, I KNOW Mary Trump is telling it exactly like it is.
She did not break her NDA. A court ruled that his NDA’s on her, (and likely every single family member) are completely worthless.
Who puts NDA’s on family members anyway? A criminal sociopathic narcissist.
She didn't use the courts "to get Money".
She used the courts to be treated fairly.
To be acknowledged as part of the family.
So equating money with love is not the only family-wide failing. Also equating money with fairness. What's next? Equating money with satiety? Self-worth? Boy. These people really *are* aberrant! You'd be really hard-pressed to find another family that has those characteristics ( if you were on a desert island in the middle of the Pacific without another soul around for 1,000 mile radius ).
You don't suppose they even equate money with *happiness* do you? I'm so glad I'm so well-adjusted. I almost got suicidal when that $1,200 stimulus/you're-a-useless-eater-in-a-make-work-job-get-over-it check finally arrived in the mail. See? I'm entirely glowing with mental health. No equating receipt of reward with joy for me! How sick would *that* be? There but for the grace of Providence goes me.

I have been watching video interviews of Mary Trump for the past week or so. My impression of her is that she is telling the truth according to her own perception of it. To me, she sounds like the most sensible one of the whole bunch.

More than just her subjective view of it! She is a skilled psychologist, so I think there is objective reality there.
She sounds like angry & bitter that she has such a famous last name, wealthy & (at the time) most powerful man in the world as an Uncle and didn’t get what she feels she and her family should have. Then come along media trying to find anyone at all to attack & slam Trump (something they’ve done consistently since he won the nomination, and in which so far the media has been found to be lying/ distorting to the point of being completely false/ or pushing a very specific narrative & selecting words cautiously to libel/ slander.
She switched her story from Trumps dad to Trump being the fault. No one else backs up her claim. A business and absent father isn’t a new thing, and based on how very attentive and involved D.Trump has been in his kids lives, I will buy that it is likely that his father was old fashion strict and absent, while his mon was very involved.
"The fact that she's his niece raises the concern that her view is distorted", hmm, could it also be that the fact that she's his niece means she's also in a much better position to be more "informed"? That, coupled with the fact that she's a clinical psychologist, could also strengthen that position.
That's exactly what I thought. Dr. Grande is great but I think he missed the mark on this one.

She saw, close up, her dad be disrespected and destroyed. She heard many stories from the family. She knows things that happened in the personal Trump milieu. She has done many interviews -- not just one -- and she has written an excellent book. This analysis is disrespectful.
Hi. I read Mary Trump's book. It is the exact mirror image of my own dysfunctional family. The same tactics my mother used to create a monster in my older sister. Her favouritism of this sister created a character that is an exact parallel of Donald. She was the least academically intelligent out of us 8 children. Meanwhile she was made the CEO of the family business which she has run into the ground. Again defrauding all her other siblings by manipulating trust deeds and wills with the aid of her husband who is a lawyer. Meanwhile all our lives this sister was hyped up to believe she is the only competent child while we others were systematically put down. I find Mary Trump's book totally believable. This is real life dysfunction. Not theory!

I haven't finished watching the video yet, but I just wanted to comment that I think that Mary's opinions about Donald's success stem from the fact that he has bankrupted multiple businesses despite massive financial support & resources from his father, not from having high standards. Just my take on it.

The release of the tapes of her aunt’s comments about the SATs being written by someone else should be evidence of the truth of that statement. I personally have never liked Trump since he first hit headlines back in the nineties and her book confirmed every impression I had of him. It is difficult to be totally objective when writing about a member of your own family but I think she did a very credible job in her book. Trump is one of those people one either loves or hates and I readily admit I fall into the latter camp.

I'm not sure I agree with the notion that suing for one's right to an inheritance means essentially seeking love from the government or courts. The money can't replace love, but disinherited people need to fight for what is rightfully theirs, at least if there is a legal angle.

I totally agree with you, for example a greedy daughter/ son persuading an elderly/ dying mother/ father when they are mentally/ emotionally unstable to disinherit a sibling or change their will at the last minute.
I agree. Going to court for being written out of her and her brothers rightful inheritance has nothing to do with love, but upholding their rights and acknowledging the lack of love of those keeping them out...her Aunts and Uncles.

NYDA is right now investigating evidence that the Trump family, not Mary, lied about inheritance taxes to the tune of 170 million$.

One thing I disagree with....it's not HER that equates money with love...it's THEM (the family). Feelings were not shown or made known by anyone in that family. Money was everything. Knowing that..of course she knows that no money means no love(on their part). I strongly recommend the book to anyone who is interested.
Why fight for an inheritance from a family she disliked if she doesn't value wealth? If she had accepted her exclusion from the fortune without litigation, I would find her more credible.
@@eurekahope5310 Mary recounts in her book how her brother, Fritz, was counting on their inheritance (wghich amongst others consisted in the private health insurance of the family) to treat his quite ill little boy. I think in normal families possesions are split between successors out of love and solidarity.
@@eurekahope5310 I agree with that sentiment. Having said that, when love = money in the difficult formulations of a damaged child, obtaining 'that which is owed' in terms of 'love', is often, perhaps misguidedly, sought as legal/monetary 'revenge' for the unhappiness/mistreatment.

Well, to my way of thinking, you don't have everyone signing disclosures if there's nothing to hide! Also, the fact that he refuses to admit he's no longer president means something upstairs isn't working...And, he is being sued by many different entities because he never owns up to his debts because the courts are his playground... I'd believe her before I'd believe him! He's been lying to the american people for 4 years, that's got to say something about who he is! For damn sure! An analysis of an interview is so superficial. It doesn't sound like he's read the book. I read the book and I don't think her perceptions are all that distorted. A sad family to stay the least.

This is the first time I've been very disappointed in one of these videos. Within the first two minutes, I got a pretty strong impression that he was negative about Mary Trump.
I read the book and I feel it was far more in-depth then the TV interview, and reasonably reliable.

Could you evaluate Josh Duggar’s personality . He was a TLC celebrity who molested four of his sisters and got caught up in the Ashley Maddison scandal . He states he is a conservative Christian. @Jane Parkmann Part of it is that the supporters don't read legitimate well-sourced news and rely a lot on opinion pieces that are based on people wanting to make money. They literally don't know what Trump is and what he's doing. Also, they like the fact that he seems to just use his common sense. Things like cutting taxes will make everyone's life better. It may or it may not. It depends on many factors. Depends on which taxes, what programs get cut, etc.
I think that is because by definition, half the people have below average intelligence and many of those distrust smart, knowledgeable experts. They think they know better, and Trump actually says he knows better, and they like that. These are the people who hear "income tax cut" and without looking into details will just think that's necessarily good (even if it results in higher taxes in other areas, higher fees, and rising consumer good prices). Many of us are sick of politics as usual and wanted something new.
I heard on the radio a short interview with a Latino who explained why many of the Latinos he knew were Trump supporters. In a nutshell, he said that they felt Trump was macho. I tried to find a link to it, but couldn't.
Disclaimer: I'm not a Trump fan but it isn't because I'm loyal to Democratic party. I'm very afraid of him. I agree with some (not the majority) of his views. I never agree with how he goes about them. I don't like that he runs the country like a mob boss. I'm afraid of the Republicans. I'm afraid of the Democrats. I have some liberal views, some conservative views. I think the country is broken without a major upset to right the boat.
@Radio La Crimson Was it a surprise to ANYONE? I cried like I never have before the night he won the 2016 election, and it was with visions of what might happen when it was time for him to leave office. In the debates, he said he wanted to replace 80% of the military with people loyal to him. That should have caused such an uproar among anyone who loves the US that he would have lost almost all support. It goes to show how uneducated people are in this country that they didn't know how incredibly terrifying that one statement was. (I don't consider myself to be educated, either in most ways. Most of us aren't in the US.)

Ironically, that's my family's diagnosis. They view money as love. They're narcissist, and low achievers academically. To make matters worse, they have expensive monetary wishes in life. Very difficult to deal with them. Based on Dr Grande's descriptions, my relatives fit perfect signs of sociopathic behavior. Very disorganized and financially reckless. What a mess! devinngeorge watch the interview she clearly states that the family used money as a substitute for love. She is very aware of what real love is meant to be or she and her brother wouldn’t have understood the damage done to her father, she’d also have found it difficult to get into a real relationship with her partner and adopt a child if she didn’t.

My father was a sociopath. My sister became the daughter who was like him and I became the daughter who did anything and everything to not be like them. I was easy to hurt because I didn't fight back, thinking that proved me different and not damaged. I was wrong. I'm damaged in a different way and can't afford to get help. I know sociopaths. She should be taken more seriously because even though she is biased she is a credible person as she experienced it first hand. Dr Grande, does it mean that if we go to court to testify against a person that is socio/narcissist or psycho/narcissist we will not be credible either? I mean, we do experienced the abuse and witnessed abused.... She witnessed it why can't she be legitimately believed? Who else outside D. Trump's family and entourage could be taken seriously?

Each grandchild received $ 200,000 including her. Grandpa was supporting her and her family even when her drunk no good father was alive. Grandpa made it clear he wasn't happy about them not have a good work ethic and felt like they were leaches. This is well known. Sorry, the insurance...were they not adults?? I left home at 18 and never asked my parents for a penny...worked two jobs when I needed. I suppose Mary was used to hand outs...rather immature. She lost the suit because she received the same as the rest of the grandchildren.

She used tactics to get to the heart of the matter. She is trying to save Trump from himself. She healed and forgave and it’s her duty as an empath to heal others and make great changes.

I don’t really agree with the statement that she was using the courts to get love because money equals love to Mary Trump. Yes, she may see that the Trump family expresses love by giving money, but of course money is valuable in its own right. However hurt I might be by being disinherited, I might still sue for the money as a separate asset than love because because money is practical.

@Joe Graham I'm not a supporter of Donald Trump, but nobody knows what he felt at that time. He may have gone to the cinema while his brother lay on his deathbed, but we can't know what he was feeling as he sat there. Hell, even if surveillance footage showed up during that night showing Donald laughing and BS'ing around friends, we still can't know how conflicted he was inside.
NYDA is currently investigating the Trumps for inheritance fraud of 170$ million. These grifters just can’t help themselves. They hate taxes and spend much trying to not pay taxes.. No one loves taxes though. One thing Fred instilled in the Donald is the love of money. Pretty obvious what that means if you just look at his motivation for everything and his irreverence for just about everyone and everything. I think the accusation is just more of the usual misogyny on this channel. Some of the analysis is interesting, but the misogyny is maddening.
She wasn't disinherited ...all grandchildren including her received $200,000.... the rest of the grandchildren received nothing ,ore than that. She assumed her dead father would recieve shares...but grandpa decided the rest to all surviving children. None of this is new news...its been around years and years. Grandpa wasn't happy with her family, that he was supporting them even when her father was alive...he was a drunk and not taking care of his family...grandpa felt like they were leaches and not supporting themselves. She assumes much...still angry with her childhood.

@@fw1240 Trump and his siblings did not fulfil their fiduciary duty to Mary when her grandfather passed away. They didn't reveal to her the value of the assets of the estate that was held in trust for her and did not give her what was owed to her under that trust. So, yeah, they're just shitty people all around and they did deserve to be taken to court.

@@cassandraotroy6325 It was discovered when she handed over the financials to the NYT for their piece on Trump's taxes. She only discovered it then, about a year ago.
I generally agree with his assessments of people. However I felt because Mary is his niece that doesn't neccesarily bias her in her assessment of her uncle. I really thought her presentation of her uncle was accurate. I think she has a handle on her emotions and was being what she is when assessing D. T. I too was cut off from the family money simply because my birth mother somehow never emotionally attached to me. That fact persisted until her death. Her favorite child got the bulk of the money. At this point in my life I accepted it and can rationally look back and accept that my birth mother never truly accepted me. It doesn't hurt. I can talk about it nonchalantly. Seems like Mary got to the same place I did and she clearly worked through it like I did. I believe her assessment of her uncle albeit it being sad.

I will never read her book! The one interview I saw of her with Katie Couric was more than enough. She gave me the creeps and the chills and the hackles rose on my back. She is weird! Smug pompous, self righteous, condescending, arrogant and unempathetic. I couldn't stand her. Even Katie Couric looked horrified at some of the things she was saying and how she showed no sympathy or empathy for people. I think she's a monster!
Many of the things that have been discussed about Mary’s account of her uncle do align with things other people said about him 20 years ago. That makes her credible where her uncle’s character is concerned, in my own opinion.

Very true. Someone raised in the same family is certainly going to be credible in talking about that particular family dynamic. And one thing when it comes to trump... these stories and accounts from people in his life have always been out there. For sure these things were known for longer and more universally in NY. New Yorkers have known forever that he is a joke, a conman, a crook who, on his best day, was still embarrassing, pathologically dishonest, and incredibly distasteful. But even outside of NY there is *NO* shortage of this type of testimony about donald trump.

Oh, and I know you're only going off of one interview, but having read the book, she wasn't born an outsider. She grew up spending ample amount of time in her grandparent's home (Her father even lived there for some parts of it so she had to go there to see him if nothing else), and she felt a part of the family at that time, and interacted with members, including Donald, on a fairly regular basis.
He is right wing. Look at his Biden and Trump videos. It baffles me how Dr Grande is so brilliant in so many ways but refused to diagnose Trump.

Thank you for verifying the accuracy of my 91 yo mother's use of sociopath/psychopath. When she used the term psychopath (for my father) I always thought she was being dramatic but I now believe she understood the terms better than most. She would also use the word "evil" which seemed to me to come from an emotional space but you have broached the concept of evil in as well from a scientifically based perspective. I really wish you had read the book before doing this analysis. There are so many things missed in the interviews which are made clear in the book. Her father, Fred Jr., was written out of the will when Fred Sr. was in the midst of his downward spiral into dementia. There was some assets that were Fred Junior’s that were not in the will, and Donald and his siblings were put in charge of administrating the funds for Mary and her brother who were underaged. They lied to Mary by downplaying how much was involved and she was given very little. When she discovered that her and her brother had been cheated she took her uncles and aunts to court and Donald Trump threw her and her brother off of the family’s healthcare coverage. This was devastating to Mary’s brother who had a very sick son. Donald Trump was very clear that he did it out of spite, and was quoting saying that in the newspapers who were covering the contretemps. Mary did say that her grandfather equated love with money. I think Mary is coming more from a place of devastation about the cruel way the family set about destroying her father when he refused to knuckle under Fred Senior’s control, and tried to have his own life as an airline pilot.

I agree. I don't think that money equals love for Mary. I think that Mary did not wish to allow the family to cheat her, and by extension her father, from the family inheritance. Cheating them in this way is the same as erasing them from the family history.

I think he means well, but I definitely see he has a bias & I grasped what I thought was a veiled leaning... Yeah he def missed on this read. The book is so... I loved it, it’s beautifully written and the melancholy that coats her upbringing is so stark and makes Donald trumps nihilism make more sense. I think he shouldn’t have opined without reading her book and shouldn’t assume the interviewer is presenting the interview organically. Mary did many interviews and seemed to get less ridgid after having a few under her belt, like she’s jumping into a fire pit and that’s gotta make a person edgy. But anyway, her book is a treatise on the age of pain and loss we’re all collectively experiencing - it’s a benediction to change direction, to imagine a different future, a plea to free ourselves of the place we come from.
I agree with your elegantly stated description of Mary Trump’s beautifully written book Kal Fisher. I also think that Dr Grande should have read the book before he attempted an analysis even as I concede that far more folks will watch the interviews than read the book and will judge by only that.

This would be the first time that I will question your insights, Dr G. Not because of your conclusions but because of the limited evidence, a short non-journalistic media interview, on which you have based them. Having listened to extensive passages from the actual book and watched her interview with Rachel Maddow, Dr. Mary Trump, at no point presented herself as a distressed damsel but as the typical offspring of wealthy, dysfunctional families, conflating self-worth and familial love with access to family money. She even admits to enjoying a fairly privileged, private school upbringing that was not quite on par with her relatives because of the estrangement then death of her father, Fred Jr.
Like her uncle Donald, she was subject to harsh conditionalities on her grandparents' affection and she admitted to respecting but disliking and ultimately rejecting her elders because of their naked greed, dishonesty and cruelty. She also seemed to believe she and her sibling should have received a full share of the familiy's inheritance after Fred Sr.'s demise, as compensation for the emotional abuse that led to the premature death of her father and consequent financial hardships faced by his widow who was ostracized after his death. Finally, she also alleged that her elders understated the size of Fred Sr.'s fortune in legal filings associated with the confidentiality agreement, rendering it null and void and freeing her to publish her book.
For these reasons I find her account quite credible.

I don’t agree that she was equating money with love. She says that she was abandoned by the family at a young age.
It’s pretty much been shown that Donald did use his fathers money, he had his father fix things when he lost his businesses such as the casino he lost. It wasn’t just that someone was alive, the conversation regarding his SAT’s was connected to the information that his sister, Mary’s aunt who told her that she did Donald’s homework regularly but couldn’t do the exams. She also wasn’t stating that she felt her inheritance meant that she felt unloved, she was explaining that within the family money was used as love, which meant that essentially it showed that she and her brother were not well loved as a part of the family.

I listened to Mary Trumps interview. Overall I think she is bias, she is also telling her story, her truth as she remembers, and I tend to believe most of it. My siblings and I were left out of our grandparents will, everything going to our aunt and her family. We were always the black sheep since our parents divorced but we tried so hard to please out grandparents, going to see them, taking them to Dr appointments, I guess trying to make up for our Dad's absence since he split the scene totally. Anyway, when we found out about the will it shattered us. We did feel unloved, we felt the whole thing was just one big joke, on us kids. So I get what Mary is saying concerning the will and not feeling loved.

I read the book. I also have a child with a narcissist. I have spent the last few years trying to figure out how I ended up with someone like that, and have accepted that I was the unloved daughter of not only my father but of my primary caregiver, my mother who was emotionally unavailable. So...I've done a lot of reading on attachment theory (I was anxious - preoccupied for much of my life.) The way she explained the family dynamics was very similar to what I know of my ex's family and on what I have learned about attachment theory. Biased? Well, its certainly PERSONAL for her. No doubt she hurt terribly growing up in that family as Fred Jr's daughter. She was a Hillary supporter, and her views on certain issues are to the left. But....so what? She is a family member and has much experience with personality disorders. If you are going to read ANYTHING about DJT, it should be from someone that knows about Cluster B. I did NOT see schadenfreude at all. The only thing I will say is that if you have personal experience with Cluster B and even KNOW anything about DJT, nothing will be a surprise to you. It's just a very sad story. As far as what she added...I think the title itself just resonated with me. She is 100% correct....ABUSE is too much or not (never) enough. ABUSE is not always physical. Emotional abuse is abuse. Teaching your children that love is transactional is abuse. Again, I do not think you should read anything about DJT if it is written by someone without extensive insight into attachment and personality.

Exactly. It’s the principle of it. If, when my dad dies, 3 get inheritance and 1 doesn’t, that one person will be hurt. Anyone who says they wouldn’t be is a liar. And it’s not greed. It could be splitting 40 dollars and one is left out of the 10$. It’s not the amount it’s the feeling of not mattering to the deceased. Also, her nephew was gravely ill. They were asking for financial help for him.
I agree. I heard an anecdote about "Freddy" (as he was called in the family). Supposedly he announced to his family at dinner that he had succeeded in getting his pilot's licence and he was understandably proud of that accomplishment. Another Trump family member (can't recall which one) reportedly then said: "Tell us, Freddy... Exactly how does what you're doing differ from driving a bus?" Now that whole episode had nothing to do with money and everything to do with trying to make a family scapegoat feel small and worthless. No wonder he drank himself to death. Yes. You've given a fair overview. I watched her interview on Australia 60 minutes. To me, it seemed that the years of hurt that she and her father experienced have, naturally, led to layers of resentments. When she talked about Donald having a period of abandonment aged 2/3 when his mother was sick I felt great sadness for the child he was - though it doesn't excuse him if he has acted in a harmful way to others as an adult.
I hope people see her words as an addition to the conversation, not an entire 'bible'.

I'm not an expert by any stretch. I theorize it depends on the age of the child. I've had many family members adopt children. One cousin adopted three girls (they were all sisters so she adopted all three of them to keep them together). They had some real struggles including police involvement later on/juvenile delinquency. This was a very religious loving home. I agree with the original post. The kids must go through a lot.

I studied Child Development (only one class, so) but we watched a film about a small boy who was in a type of nursing facility while his mother gave birth to her other child. The child who was in the facility was not given the attention or love he deserved and therefore was mentally injured by it. Yes, as someone who has suffered this, it is very critical for our society to truly understand this. I think about when Trump was so proud of saying he was giving an extended (?) amount of time for mothers who worked to go back to work, it is a ridiculous amount of time. 6 weeks, 1 month, even 3 months is Not sufficient for a baby to feel attached. Our society is despicable when it comes to babies and attachment, as Work seems to be more important. It is disgusting. And no wonder women want abortions, we know this instinctually.

If a woman really wants to be a mother she needs to plan to take time off from her job. Otherwise why should taxpayers pay for her time off from work? Grandparents can be invaluable if they are still alive and live close by. I'm listening to it right now. As someone who came from a similar abusive home, money was certainly weaponized, but I think she was on the mined path of searching for acceptance from intolerable people, and constantly apologizing to fit in because her father "failed" to be the slumlord and sociopath her grandfather was. Making things worse was keeping her homosexuality a secret, and wanting to make up for this fact by pleasing everybody. I think her grandmother and aunt's relationship with her was disingenuous on their parts, because they DID NOTHING to help her when she and her brother were disinherited and had their heath insurance revoked.
I did like the point that Mary said that the issue at this point is not the President but his enablers.

Regarding Attachment Theories, why wasn't the fact that Trump's mother's hospitalization (separation from his primary caregiver) when he was only 2 years old, taken into consideration? His mother wasn't physically available during that crucial period of development and his father wasn't emotionally available. Trump's sister, Maryann confirmed that someone else took his SAT exam for him on an audio recording.
Everyone is biased, especially when talking about family.
I once won a contest with the phrase "unbiased opinion"; it was to come up with the best oxymoron. I explained my entry by pointing out that opinions are inherently biased by our experience and upbringing. That doesn't make them bad or good bias, just simply bias. We can strive to avoid bias, or note it in our decision making. Emotional bias can be some of the hardest to detect as well as to mitigate.
But that doesn't mean they are wrong either

One thing I leaned in grad school while taking a statistics and research class - everyone has biases that affect how we see everything every day. All research has inherent bias, all opinions reveal biases (to the previous reply’s point) - everyone has them. I'll probably vote for Trump but imo he's used the office to specifically make himself rich beyond belief and to vastly, in a way that won't be clear for years, increase the wealth divide. Probably bringing us to war, maybe civil war.

The book was informational. Hardly any emotions involved. She should not be dismissed.
Regarding _"They were alive":_ She doesn't imply that she thinks that _being alive_ is enough (on its own) to have made them aware of his cheating; it's just *_a counterpoint to the interviewer's assertion that SHE couldn't know because "she WASN'T alive."_* Saying: Yes, but the people who told me *_were_* alive, is a perfectly reasonable answer, in that context.
Wow, thanks for pointing this out. I didn't watch the interview, only read parts of the book and I had a suspicion that there was something fishy with his argument. This is really the final nail in the coffin that makes me leave this channel. There is too much sloppy research and leaving out of crucial information.
Actually, she is admitting all of that is hearsay, which immediately disqualifies most of her argument. "But that is only in a court..." No.. it disqualifies her argument entirely. No one has to love or even like Donald to say that.. just a statement of reality that people who have issues with finding out someone they hate is good at something or is smarter than they want to believe are willing to lie about it.. even if they are "close friends/associates/relatives" even. Mary Trump is a "celebrity born of Schadenfreude", not any facts or anything close to truth.
@@Panwere36 What are you talking about? Her book about Trump is very well written and researched. You do realize that her father is Donald Trumps older brother and that they grew up together? There is an incredible amount of depth of personal information in the book. I despise Trumps politics but after reading parts of the book, I actually do pity him. He is a monster only partly of his own making.
@@Teilnehmer , I don't have to like Trump to look at things from a perspective of being on a jury, and Mary Trump comes off as not having written her book to deliberately cash in on the biggest issue with her audience. It was targeted toward Trump haters who have no self-awareness. Most of the people who "love her book" projected a lot of their own flaws and failings onto the man. Look how many of his most visible attackers have been revealed to be frauds, thieves, and predators themselves in the last few years. That what I am saying.
This analysis was worthwhile though I have no training as a psychologist. I have not seen the interview Mary Trump did with Stephanopoulus, but what I heard her say in other interviews reinforced and supplemented what I read in some "deep dive" stories going back to 2016 about Donald Trump. And have witnessed during his presidency.

I've got the book. Because she is a psychologist, I'm interested to see what her writing style is like and how she goes about writing about the President. When my master's in psychology is over, I'll have time to read this book 📚
Very few authors "write" a book. They have at least one ghost writer formulate the author's intention.
If you are only going on this one interview, that's a mistake in my opinion. Opinionating on her by using several sources would have been more conclusive and impressive. Did you see the 60Minutes Aussie interview of her? Or read her book? Don't feel pressured to just pump out content, we will gladly wait for you to formulate a more complete opinion! I had to Google the meaning of schadenfreude. While I love the Dr. Grande, it was not my sense that Mary derived pleasure from Donald's misfortune of having "mashed potatoes over the head." Mashed Potatoes over the Head is just a funny story, for any interview, in any language.
I disagree with your statement that love was money so she went to court. The estate was worth vastly more and she was cheated. Do you think crooks should just get away with their crimes without recourse? She has integrity and values, her writing the book is for our benefit l doubt she needs the money

All that people knew was that he was rich and that's mostly what people (especially rappers) idolized. Once he started to run for president, well actually before, people started to look closer at his personality and history. He headed the birther movement, which the black community viewed him negatively for doing, and that was before he ran.The same with joe biden. When he was just Obama's VP and cool uncle joe, everything was cool. Now that we are seeing more of him and digging deeper, many people have been turned off by his history and some of his personality traits. Everyone loves a the drunk uncle at the BBQ, but their attitude may change if he was put in charge of the family finances. People had no reason to disapprove of DT as a businessman/Celebrity, but as a politician most people use a different lense. Even back then, he still had negative stories floating around about him.
TLDR: People liked him a celebrity because they didn't know much about him.
Practically nobody really knows any politician.

I don't think she personally equates love to money (her inheritance) rather that her grandfather showed love through money and cutting her out of his inheritance was his way of removing his love. She is already hurt by what her father suffered at her grandfather's hand and it is even worse that he cut her (by extension) out of his will.
Yes, being cut out of a family will is incredibly hurtful. In my case a aunt orchestrated it all, in Mary's case her uncle did the dirty work.

So little is known about this mental health issue and seen so frequently in foster children and child of abuse an entire video on it could be very beneficial for your audience. This theory is so complex we see it buried under layers of healthy relationships waiting to rear its ugly head, and often times the sufferer has no idea why they are behaving in the way they do. In my opinion, this is the least known, yet most impactful component of childhood emotional development❣

Loving Marys audiobook. Old man Trump has a lot to answer for. He would never have believed his son would be Pres. Or perhaps he would!
Mary did NOT break her NDA. There was a court decision that gave her permission to talk. She does not claim to be impartial, to her credit. She stated if he wasn’t running for office again she would’ve remained silent as she has for decades. While memories are tinged with usually inaccurate assumptions and perspectives, she revealed the origins of his grandiose narcissism and spoke about patterns of behavior. She did not react emotionally when challenged about her statements and has repeatedly stated she is not invested in whether people believe her. We can all observe his behaviors; her explanation of them seems credible imo.

I really haven't landed on a side here. There really isn't enough evidence to prove her credible and without biased motivation . It's hard to know. Of course, to be fair, I feel like I don't need her book - I can just watch or listen to Trump to seriously wonder about his mental health.
That's exactly what I felt, Kristen. However, I have the Audible phone app and figured what the heck, I'll download the book and give it a try. Wasn't what I thought at all. I couldn't stop listening and the seven hours went by pretty quick, over a period of days. In the end, the book is actually sympathetic and paints Trump as very much of victim of some serious childhood traumas. But as she points out in the book and in the Australia 60 Minutes interview. Adults cannot play the "victim" card. Yes he is cruel and sadistic, abusive and all the rest, but he is responsible for what he is now. Enablers all through his life have given him a free pass. He's never, ever been held accountable.
The documented video and audio footage of Donald Trump’s behavior is evidence enough to support Mary Trump’s claim.
That's what I thought too. Her memories and insights seem like a plausible explanation for what we can all see and hear...if we're open to seeing and hearing it.
