I'm assuming it should work pretty well for games like Pokemon GO? I know the GO graphics aren't amazing but a lot of the game is walking/driving around and doing gyms and raids, which means being connected to data quite often and my current old phone doesn't do well in keeping up with the raid and battle animations, which is why I'm in the market now for something in the budget line. I don't really play any other games on my phone so I'm looking for something to play the ones with heavier graphics.

Ugh. I liked your review right up until you started the cons: A phone made of plastic/kevlar/polycarbonate is a feature... Not a bug... You use the right tool for the job: You don't use plastic to build an engine block, and you don't use glass/metal to make a phone case... Only exception is if your phone is jewelry... In which case, you should really just put a case on it to give it some bling...
@@SpiritualSchmuck they can disagree all they like, but I want options on the market for mid to high end phones not burdened with stupid fragile/poorly rf materials... My Note 9 would be 1000 times better if the back was plastic and the front had a flat screen... And while I like the metal aluminum um edge, I'd much rather the frame be stainless steel...

And I also feel it is my duty to educate people and criticize reviewers who incorrectly state things like 'plastic isn't premium'. You can state your preference for glass shards or metal farraday cages, but be honest in talking about the cons, the same way one speaks of the cons of plastic as some sort of undesirable deal breaker...

Hey! Quick question - I love the pixel 4a and i’m considering buying one (coming from an iPhone 11). however, it’s black smear bothers me. it’s something i noticed using a friends phone when scrolling in dark mode on most apps (esp. Twitter). is there a fix for this? is it worse when phone brightness is low or if you use dark mode? the bouncing text is just so annoying and I would assume companies would notice that drawback?
I have a Pixel 2XL over 2 years and half but it seems the battery is starting to die ( battery life still during all day, but i notice is not the same of begining anymore - fair enough, 3 years usage) . Should I buy Pixel 4a, or wait to Pixel 5 family?
should I upgrade to this from my iPhone 7? If so, what are the features I will miss? I have both an iPad and a Macbook, plus my wife uses an iphone and we use Messages a lot
If you're a MacOS user, there is a lot of integration with iOS that you won't have on Android. You can still text to someone using Apple Messages but just basic SMS and MMS (no iMessages). Also no text forwarding or call forwarding to other Macs in the house. But if you're not that tied into the Apple ecosystem, then the 4a will be a nice upgrade. The SE will feel basically like the iPhone 7 (same screen and size), but with a much better processor, water resistance, and wireless charging. Both the 4a and SE have excellent cameras, though the 4a has better low-light, and the SE better video.
@@jundoobai272 thanks, I think I'll stick with Apple for now. The more I think about it, the more I realize how many convenience features I take for granted
I just received my pixel and it's an extremely good phone. You can take a look the video on my page. First time using the latest stock Android and the gesture navigation is my most favourite thing. Easy to multitask.
If you want a phone with the best camera and good battery I'd go pixel. If you want good camera, super fast processor with no lag or stutter then you go iphone. I have XR and Moto G power. My iphone is just always snappy and consistent but the battery sucks compared to 5000mah battery on my Moto which is clearly why I got the moto g power 😊
question: If I have the 3a (got it for under €200 completely new), would it be clever to sell it and buy a 4a when it is available? or should I use it and wait for the "next gen"?
I'm a normal user I don't do gaming, will pixel 4a last atleast 2 to 3 years without lag or sluggish feel coz I'm worried how the phone will be after 1 or 2 major Android updates
Not a glitch, just the phone using Google's ai to enhance the picture. Since the 4A does not come with a seperate photo processing chip (believe the 4 did), it takes this phone a second to process them. Just what I've heard
I got one of these to use as a secondary device just to get the Google experience. The biggest issue I have with it is that it doesn't play well with the Sprint network. I guess because it doesn't have access to 5G. According to online it is supposed to be compatible though.
@@JSLReview You can actually take ultrawide photos with the pixel 4a using photosphere, it requires quite a bit of patience and I recommend doing this in landscape mode, not portrait.
I really liked the Pixel line since the very 1st one in 2016 is the Original Google Pixel XL worth buying for 200€? (Currently on the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018)
My concern is the battery. I don't game, but I use youtube a lot to listen to podcasts, lectures, and vlogs. My primary concern when choosing a new phone is able to produce good photo when I use the camera(I don't really care for selfie), and the battery capacity, and this on paper is short on battery. What do you think of the battery life? I'm usi g Samsung galaxy J7 right now, and I'd like to have a phone that can match this phone battery performance.
I used this for a weekend coming from the S20 and one thing that bothered me was unlocking the phone. I don't mind the fingerprint sensor on the back but it isn't my favorite. I'm fine with it but I'm also fine with the in display sensor on the S20. What I really missed was the simple face unlock that is on the S20 that is absent on the 4a. It's something minor but I found myself looking at the 4a waiting for it to open only to remember that it doesn't have a face unlock option. Really a shame because it's such a simple useful feature. I also wasn't a fan of the code unlock as you always have to hit enter or ok after entering your pin code. Kind of weird.
Got it with a spigen armor case and screen protector, personally i like the black, but with a (black) case, who cares about the colour of the phone. I don't game qnd a lot of the always on features, so my battery life is now 3 days. Very happy so far.
nice review! my main observation about the pixel 4a is concerning future proofing: as far as I can see, is not a problem at all, since for the price of a mid range or a flagship phone i can buy 3-4 4a phones. It means I can change EVERY YEAR instead of buyng one to keep it 3 -4 years.
This phone would be perfect but I wanted a phone to last 2-3 years would it better to wait and get the 4A 5G? The leaked specs look pretty decent (better chip, larger screen etc.) I don’t play games on my phone just mainly social media & watching videos.
Ordered mine from bestbuy last week. They put a 5 day hold on my card. Within those 5 days I had a fraudulent charge and now my payment didn't go through. Do o have to reorder the phone?
The case around the camera and the buttons creaks when I hold the phone. Makes no difference in performance and there are no visible gaps but it's quite loud and annoying af for a new phone.
I dont understand in what aspects is 730 underpowered? Im using the same chip & gpu in my phone for a year now and it manages to do anything that is thrown its way. COD 60fps high settings, other than extreme gaming, other stuff that you can do on your phone is a walk in the park for SD 730..so its not "okay" for browsing and emails, its perfect for anything ranging from split screen yt + downloads up to 4k shooting, editing videos without throttling.
So...do I wait to see the 5 or 4a 5g pricing and cameras or just get the 4a? Don't care about 5g, but will the 765 chip add anything to future proofing other performance?
The 4a 5G will have bigger screen and battery along with a snappier processor with more efficiency in turn adding battery life. Im in the same boat as you but I've decided to wait. Should be around $449 and well worth the price tag. You'll be all set for 3 years
@@natediaz7621 thx Nate. yeah, i'll wait a month or so to find out. So you are saying that there is a real performance difference in the 765 chip to make the 4a 5G or pixel 5 more valuable other than just the 5G capability? I haven't read anything specific relative to the two chips other than the 5G capability that I don't think will benefit me in the 3 to 4 years I expect to own it. I'm OK with screen and battery size of the 4a as is, but I'll give upgrades some value credit in my comparison. Only other thing I wish the 4a had was a wide angle lens. If the 4a 5G adds that it would be useful to me. The 5 supposedly will have but it will add other things of lessor value to me(wireless charging and IP rating I'm reading) that probably pushes the price too high and towards one of the 4a options? Next wish list item for me would be better video quality closer to the iPhone 11/12, but nothing I've read indicates video upgrades this year on Pixels.
@@bobdrahushuk3410 yeah do a comparison of the two processors. The 765 is like 20% faster and more efficient so it says battery. I just think without a doubt the 4a 5g will be all around better and last longer due to 5g capabilities and a better processor as as bigger battery.. battery is important. It degrades fast so to me its always bettter to get a bigger battery knowing it will be half as good in 2 years
Im thinking about getting either the Google pixel 4 or the 4a which do you recommend? Because I heard it's a bit slow when swiping and my Google pixel 1 is now lagging and freezing sometimes so idk how the 4a will do long-term
I used to have a pixel 1, and eventually it started crashing every time I answered a phone call (also if I hit ignore). I upgraded to the pixel 2 just after the 3 was released (2 was cheaper), and the 2 has been doing quite well so far. If your still using pixel 1, and its starting to freeze up, you may want to upgrade soon. Also, the pixel 1 I got, was bought on facebook. May want to make sure you get the phone directly from google store. I wouldn't recommend spending too much time trying to fix the pixel 1 freezing. I had flashed the phone, and tested it without an account, and it still crashed. safe mode also failed. If you upgrade to a new pixel, also check if google will still let you trade in the old pixel 1 for a discount. One big thing was the fast charging capability. I am on a dilemma. Should i go for pixel 4a? Will this phone last for at least 2 years like the one i am using? Will i face freezing and laggging problems? Should i go for Nord and just put gcam on it? Can som1 help me? Thank you very much!
I think the most powerful point in 4a is ~70mm width. you only have samsung S series for that size. now S series has problem because of snapdragon version is not available worldwide. Pixel 4 / XL has problem with price and battery (not ideal price to value) 4a is one of the few options that still have decent performance while still maintain comfortable one-hand form factor. I still use mi5 until today is because I can't find newer phone with same comfortable level.
The only one thing which 'you' mentioned in your review which worries me is the long-term longevity (your strong concern if it is even viable two years later). I love the Stock-Android, the full-screen, the cameras, no bloatware [that I'm aware of (?)] and I highly prefer the plastic build {for durability viz. glass; & I always use a case, anyway}. Haven't bought it 'yet', and would be coming from a Pocophone F1, ...yes, almost a big step-down, but still.
I prefer to hold on to my phones for a few years. Is this the best one for that? I look for larger memory and how long I can use it. I don't game so that's not an issue for me but was concerned when you mentioned not lasting very long.
i have an idea of buying pixel 4a 5g or pixel 5 from some other market because it is not available in india. will there be any issues. please help me out....
Great review dude. I’m abt to pull the trigger on the 4a too. It just seems like it’s almost the perfect value for $ phone right now. I’ve used the new SE for a while now but I agree with you the screen size (and the batt) could be better. Thumbs up and Subd!
Yup, easily... Just battery replacements will be required when it deteriorates beyond practicality (which is necessary for any smartphone). Also, don't expect it to handle hardcore gaming down the years, for other things like social media, UA-cam, Netflix, its all Good!!👍 From a Google Pixel Xl owner
the 730 chip is the best a midrange can offer. i used it for over 1 year, still runs fine even though the miui 12 isnt as good as the stock android experience. don't get me wrong, it sometimes hang, crashes from time to time but that may be due to the miui 12 skin or just plain android problem.

Hi, prime video run in full hd like Netflix or UA-cam? Disney? Thanks 🙏
I do game but it isn't heavy power games like shooters or anything like that, would the phone still lag or would it work well?
Hi, I am Kapil, I bought a new pixel 4a device in India via Flipkart (Big Billion Day). My pixel 4a smartphone could not connect to the network service. I am using VIL SIM with VoLTE. It shows no service even after trying it out with different carriers like JIO. Awaiting for your response.
I just ordered my 4a the other day - Won't be here until October though (at the latest they say, so we'll see) - I can't wait to play with it, I owned a Pixel 2 XL back when they came out and I absolutely loved it - Right now my daily driver is a Samsung Galaxy S10+ .. So yeah .. I'm use to the larger screen and high performance .. But I'm sure I'll love this phone
Hi*loved ur video.
But am facing a problem.i got my pixel 4a 2 days back and I am facing this yellow tint in the display.the whites are too pale*.is it the same with ur device as well
I have a Google Pixel 3 and my biggest complaints is that only Google chargers charge quicky. Also I don't like that the port for the charger and the earphones are the same. Have these issues changed?
This one has a headphone jack. I just got mine earlier. First pixel phone because didn't think the previous ones were good enough. This one surely is!
I have a issue I don't know how to resolve . When I share a video with friends that use iphone they can not see it . Help !
just concerned about gorilla glass 3 on the front scratching. do screen protectors take away from the visuals much?
I'm assuming it should work pretty well for games like Pokemon GO? I know the GO graphics aren't amazing but a lot of the game is walking/driving around and doing gyms and raids, which means being connected to data quite often and my current old phone doesn't do well in keeping up with the raid and battle animations, which is why I'm in the market now for something in the budget line. I don't really play any other games on my phone so I'm looking for something to play the ones with heavier graphics.
The chip on it runs PUBG smoothly, it can handle Pokemon
Hi bro, how is the streaming performance on this phn . Like hdr content from Netflix or prime. Is it able to handle those smoothly? Content watching is a big part of my daily activities, so i am interested in knowing how the display is and how the phn handles hdr streaming. Pls reply.
Yes. It will handle those tasks with ease. Those are primarily based on your internet speed. The screen is fantastic for the price!
The only thing I don't like with Pixel 4a is that I can't find a way to take pictures in 9:16 only in 3:4. Somebody have an advice?
I would like to know the battery life ?which is not a bigger capacity compared to current market mobiles
What about the battery life? Say I don't game much and primarily use it for photos and day to day how long can it last?
I agree with you but alot of other folks clearly feel otherwise.
@@jacobdrj101 I agree with you but rampant consumerism the ethos of the western world isn't driven by this fact. It's like buying fendi or prada bags knowing how quickly they will devalue.
@@SpiritualSchmuck I understand the concepts of designed obsolescence. And to an extent, I'm okay with it. Which is why some of this (security updates) should be handled by law.
@@jacobdrj101 I'm with you man glass back was cool in 2012 but c'mon it sucks now and they're charging an arm and a leg to replace them... Phone manufacturers can start being creative and make something out of brushed metal and carbon fiber or something.... I'm done seeing phones with glass it's not premium it's stupid
very good looking backgrounds you used on the Pixel 4a at the video... Where did You get them ?
I'd buy this with my eyes closed. Super happy with my 9 month old 3a XL. ❤️
but what about him saying that 4a will work only for an year?
Nice vid, the camera shows that specs on paper everything. I would like to see ur channel grow
I have to say that you Asian vatos have the best narrating voices when doing tech reviews. Great video youngin’👍🏼
should I upgrade to this from my iPhone 7?
Do you guys not use Telegram or WhatsApp?
I just received my pixel and it's an extremely good phone. You can take a look the video on my page. First time using the latest stock Android and the gesture navigation is my most favourite thing. Easy to multitask.
I need a phone which has the best camera and good bttry
Pixel 4a or iphone 12?
If you want a phone with the best camera and good battery I'd go pixel. If you want good camera, super fast processor with no lag or stutter then you go iphone. I have XR and Moto G power. My iphone is just always snappy and consistent but the battery sucks compared to 5000mah battery on my Moto which is clearly why I got the moto g power 😊
My Pixel 4a is working great. I got it last week I think? And I love it. No performance issues.
question: If I have the 3a (got it for under €200 completely new), would it be clever to sell it and buy a 4a when it is available? or should I use it and wait for the "next gen"?
I'm a normal user I don't do gaming, will pixel 4a last atleast 2 to 3 years without lag or sluggish feel coz I'm worried how the phone will be after 1 or 2 major Android updates
Wait, what was that little glitch on the camera screen at 4:45??
Not a glitch, just the phone using Google's ai to enhance the picture. Since the 4A does not come with a seperate photo processing chip (believe the 4 did), it takes this phone a second to process them.
Just what I've heard
I got one of these to use as a secondary device just to get the Google experience. The biggest issue I have with it is that it doesn't play well with the Sprint network. I guess because it doesn't have access to 5G. According to online it is supposed to be compatible though.
Keep it up broo and put a like
Thanks for the support, appreciate it!
@@JSLReview You can actually take ultrawide photos with the pixel 4a using photosphere, it requires quite a bit of patience and I recommend doing this in landscape mode, not portrait.
@@tanmayfadnis5440 how bro can you explain it a bit more
@@joeyross1960 Here, check this out... ua-cam.com/video/oQPHxIcAsEg/v-deo.html
Is there a spot where I can find all of these awesome wallpapers?
Are there any updates till now? Also, does the pixel get monthly updates or quarterly? You didn't mention about the battery/SOT
I really liked the Pixel line since the very 1st one in 2016 is the Original Google Pixel XL worth buying for 200€? (Currently on the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018)
Bro is this phone good for making VlOGS for UA-cam by front camera ?
You didn't even mentioned Battery Performance once
Right? Wth kind oof review doesn't talk about battery? Trash.
In india it will launch around 477USD and oneplus nord price is 409USD here....... So please tell me which one should I buy
Hey guys, my navigation bar won't hide in fullscreen when watching videos in chrome. Anyone know how to stop this? Cheers
Watching this video on my Pixel 2XL and still very happy with it!
If you need good battery life, go with those bulky 6000 mAh phones.... They also have decent cameras.. like the m31s is good...
What about Battery Life ? How is it going after a month ?
Amazing . It charge really fast and last all day !
This video was so helpful! Thanks so much!
Google pixel 4a 128gb variant is available?
We can store unlimited photos on this ?
Google pixel will be launched in 5g verison in india?
Got it with a spigen armor case and screen protector, personally i like the black, but with a (black) case, who cares about the colour of the phone.
I don't game qnd a lot of the always on features, so my battery life is now 3 days. Very happy so far.
nice review! my main observation about the pixel 4a is concerning future proofing: as far as I can see, is not a problem at all, since for the price of a mid range or a flagship phone i can buy 3-4 4a phones. It means I can change EVERY YEAR instead of buyng one to keep it 3 -4 years.
In my country Pixel 4a and Samsung s10 lite costs almost the same, please someone enlighten me and help me choose between them
Grace video content. Keep it up bro. Please do a camera comparison between pixel 4a and last year 3a or 3a XL. I would love to see that please.
Thanks
Thanks for the feedback - i'm pretty sure my next video is going to be a dedicated camera comparison!
Anyone else having speaker problems for notifications ? Recently mine sounds muffled.
Hi, I am planning to buy a Google Pixel 4a, however, I have seen some reviews on Flipkart about its heating issues. Is it true?
This phone would be perfect but I wanted a phone to last 2-3 years would it better to wait and get the 4A 5G? The leaked specs look pretty decent (better chip, larger screen etc.) I don’t play games on my phone just mainly social media & watching videos.
Ordered mine from bestbuy last week. They put a 5 day hold on my card. Within those 5 days I had a fraudulent charge and now my payment didn't go through. Do o have to reorder the phone?
A perfect device for me. Google said they r going to launch it in India in October.... Damn that display. 👍For your review.
Great review I went from the pixel 2 XL to the pixel 4A and I couldn't be happier
Hi, nice review! One question, its hard to introduce the pixel if you are in a apple ecosystem? Thx
The case around the camera and the buttons creaks when I hold the phone. Makes no difference in performance and there are no visible gaps but it's quite loud and annoying af for a new phone.
whats a phone in this price range that might last longer/have more processing power?
I dont understand in what aspects is 730 underpowered? Im using the same chip & gpu in my phone for a year now and it manages to do anything that is thrown its way. COD 60fps high settings, other than extreme gaming, other stuff that you can do on your phone is a walk in the park for SD 730..so its not "okay" for browsing and emails, its perfect for anything ranging from split screen yt + downloads up to 4k shooting, editing videos without throttling.
I just bought a pixel bc it said 3yrs of updates but Im kinda worried now bc everyone is saying that it wont last that long :(
So...do I wait to see the 5 or 4a 5g pricing and cameras or just get the 4a? Don't care about 5g, but will the 765 chip add anything to future proofing other performance?
I would wait if you can, hopefully the 5 will drop soon!
The 4a 5G will have bigger screen and battery along with a snappier processor with more efficiency in turn adding battery life. Im in the same boat as you but I've decided to wait. Should be around $449 and well worth the price tag. You'll be all set for 3 years
@@natediaz7621
thx Nate. yeah, i'll wait a month or so to find out.
It degrades fast so to me its always bettter to get a bigger battery knowing it will be half as good in 2 years
Love the phone, but why is there no waterproof case for it?
Im thinking about getting either the Google pixel 4 or the 4a which do you recommend? Because I heard it's a bit slow when swiping and my Google pixel 1 is now lagging and freezing sometimes so idk how the 4a will do long-term
honestly I would wait to see what the Pixel 5 is like - if you can't wait, I would go with the 4a, you get more value overall

Do you know a car named Tata Nano costs lower than iPhone 11 pro max in India
I am using Huawei p10 for 3 years and i have decided that the time for me to change has arrived. As you know, p10 had a great camera. Performance was cool.
Pixel 4 / XL has problem with price and battery (not ideal price to value)
4a is one of the few options that still have decent performance while still maintain comfortable one-hand form factor.
I still use mi5 until today is because I can't find newer phone with same comfortable level.
Pixel phones never was a budget phone in my country ☹️ it is hella expensive
Where where you man!! No need for 2X playback speed 😊
You earned a sub!!!!!!!
Amazing review! Made the decision for me. Now... Where on the web to find those wallpapers?
Glad the video helped! Hit up my Twitter I post the most popular wallpapers there @jslreview
Im not a smart person, but does performance include watching movies / netflix? i dont play games that mucb
I doesn't bother movies and Netflix but a good processor sure dose give you better user experience and gaming experience
What is the battery performance for a normal user (watch video and social media)
Because of 3100 mah
I prefer to hold on to my phones for a few years. Is this the best one for that? I look for larger memory and how long I can use it. I don't game so that's not an issue for me but was concerned when you mentioned not lasting very long.
i have an idea of buying pixel 4a 5g or pixel 5 from some other market because it is not available in india. will there be any issues. please help me out....
No there wont be any issues just ybe shipping cost will be quite high

Great review dude. I’m abt to pull the trigger on the 4a too. It just seems like it’s almost the perfect value for $ phone right now. I’ve used the new SE for a while now but I agree with you the screen size (and the batt) could be better.
Thumbs up and Subd!
Thanks for the feedback and support! Let me know what you think once you get your hands on the phone!
Can this phone last 3-4 years? I'm planning to switch to a pixel from an iphone XR.
Yup, easily... Just battery replacements will be required when it deteriorates beyond practicality (which is necessary for any smartphone). Also, don't expect it to handle hardcore gaming down the years, for other things like social media, UA-cam, Netflix, its all Good!!👍
From a Google Pixel Xl owner
the 730 chip is the best a midrange can offer. i used it for over 1 year, still runs fine even though the miui 12 isnt as good as the stock android experience. don't get me wrong, it sometimes hang, crashes from time to time but that may be due to the miui 12 skin or just plain android problem.
Should I change one plus 7 pro for Google pixel 4a
