I read the book knowing the ending and I cried. There is something about the way she writes that makes it so emotional
After I finished reading this...I didn't even cry. I just felt this shock and emptiness after realizing everything that happened. Loved the video!!
This is me but with A little Life
i never cry when i read books but i sobbed reading this
I didn’t tear up or felt emotional or anything but I did enjoy the read. I kind of predicted what was going to happen when the war started which I was bummed about. But Mann did I do a lot of underlining
i felt like i was choking to death reading this lwokey
PLEASE read Circe by Madeline Miller if you haven't already. It kinda feels like a part two for the song of Achilles because it's based on the Odyssey where as the song of Achilles is based on the Illiad. If you don't know, the Illiad is basically the story of the Troijan war and the Odyssey is a story of Odysseus' struggles to get back home from the Troijan war that lasted for decades. But because Circe is a goddess we get to follow her for thousands of years and hear her full story while also touching the story of Odysseus. And Circe even briefly touches on the story of Achilles and Patroklos, so it really feels like a sequel, even tho it really isn't but you get the point :)
The writing in this book is sooo amazing😪❣️At the end I cried all my tears out, I love patroclos and achilles so much!!!
I lowkey teared up a little while you were reading bc I was having flashbacks from the book & the feelings I had w each section you talked about 😭
I was just about to comment this 😭😭😭
this is my favourite book of all time and i knew nothing about greek mythology when reading this - but its so worth reading !!
As an italian who studied these stories since elementary school, I adore mythology and I loved hearing you talk about the book and watching your reactions, definitely a boost of serotonin ahaahah❤️
Loved seeing your reaction! Just wanted to say that this book is a retelling of the Iliad so it was not possible to change how things went🥲
this book absolutely shattered me into peices bro
i LOVED this book with all my heart. I cried so hard I couldn’t breathe! I still couldn’t stop thinking about it a year later so I got a tattoo that says “ he is half of my soul “ in cursive writing.
omg i love that😭
This is one of the very few books I cried too. Her writing is just so so beautiful!
I listened to the audiobook. The narrator was just… divine. He breathed life into Patroclus and Achilles. It took me soooooo long to finish this audiobook because I knew what would happen in the end, as I am familiar with Greek mythology. But through the eyes of Patroclus? It just hit harder. I loved it, but yeah, I was destroyed afterwards for a while. Such beautiful, beautiful writing and prose.

omg I absolutely loved song of Achilles Im so happy you read it
You'll definitely have to read Circe, also(if you haven't already). Miller is genius at reiterating mithology, keeping true, at the same time, with the initial narrative.
i literally never get bored of watching your videos!!
Your outfits are always stunning >>-💗->
I've been waiting for this for soooo long 🥺🖤
I haven't read it yet but I really want to. I am Greek and i love our mythology so I am excited and scared at the same time
it’s a type of self care being able to watch someone else love your favorite book as much as you did
AHHHHH
i've been waiting for this one........ TURN IT UP
YAYAY READING VLOG!
I love that I have the same exact copy of this book. I could follow where exactly you were😇♥️
literally finished this book the same day you posted this omg
I JUST WANNA COMMENT CAUSE NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE HERE YET
Haven't gotten my hands on it yet. I am a little scared that the book will be overhyped. I am big fan of Greek mythology and their retellings
it isn’t overhyped…
I was worried about it being overhyped too but it isn’t! I would def recommend
Such a great read! We loved reading it for our podcast!
I read it with you and it was so fun! Defintely a super sad book, however I didn't cry, just felt empty haha.
I think we read it at the same time! I really loved this book and broke my heart 🥺💔
I just finished this book and it’s now my favorite book!
I READ THIS BOOK NOT KNOWING WHAT WILL HAPPEN, I DIDNT EXPECT TO SOB MY EYES OUT LMAO
14:45
That happened to me to! Just last night I did the same thing and spoiled the book for myself. I was crying a lot :(
Good thing I already read this book for the first time but I didn't cry but it was beautifully written
Post more i look forward to your vids 😍
*SPOILER COMMENT*
But I kinda get why Thetis wanted Achilles not to be with Patroclus because she had such a vile experience in her past and she want to guard her child like any other mother and i think that is why she helped them in the end because her son was now dead and so he didn't need protecting anymore 💔
why do you look like the main characters crush in the lorax movie lmaooo
20:08 I read another book that said that Helen’s dad (Zeus) is behind her decision just cause the gods were bored
Amazing
I have this to read and Circe x
Read this book a month ago, still thinking about it ):
Historians: they were such good friends
People who have read this book: *nods while looking the other way* sure.....
Are you planning to read circe?
Okay, so I just finished watching this video and I wanted to say a few things!! 🥺 First of all, I'm so glad you made this video!!
Second, this book is actually based on a classic, "The Iliad" by Homer, so Madeline Miller didn't actually kill them just for the sake of it and I'm so heartbroken 😭
*SPOILER*
And third, when I read this book for the first time, I hated Thetis, I hated her with my entire heart, but now that I think about it, I feel like Thetis was this bad to Patroclus because she knew how this was bound to end. She most probably wanted to skip the prophecy by not letting them be friends because had they not gotten so close, Achilles wouldn't have jumped to his own death after what happened with Patroclus. Does it make any sense? 🥺
yeah Thetis Loves her son and only wabted to protect him :(
the way she said chiron 💀💀💀
Read classroom of the elite volume 1. Psychological thriller slice of life. You will get brain pucked
...
Without a doubt ... you are NICE and SOLAR. - The video is nice, but you made it more pleasant with your dialectic. Optimal.
i had the same reaction when i found out he was 9like wth
🎩🎩
Why can I have the book? 😳
Song of Achillies
I personally was let down by this book, I didn’t connect with the story, characters and writing. I guess it just wasn’t for me which is okay. I’m glad you enjoyed it though !!!
