@LloydZyanRUy midrangers now are more than capable of handing anything you throw at them . All the extra features on flagships are gimmicky . Once a device has a decent processor and good cameras that's all most people need which one can get in alot midrangers. The gap between flagship and midrangers is no longer there
@@Crabby.1 I agree. There used to be a time when a flagship was worth it such as a Samsung galaxy s or iPhone 3 vs something like a blackberry or flipper but not really anymore.
I had a Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime that lasted me 9-10 years... then i had the Galaxy A20s that lasted 5 years.. currently own the Galaxy A34 i recently got in February and i love this phone. No problems and i plan on keeping it for years to come. The only 2 brands i ever owned in all my life was Samsung and Nokia.. all from Nokia 1100 and the Samsung J700i. So im good for a couple years to come
Once you go premium you'll look at your other devices like what was I thinking My first premium phone was an s21 which I still have my second was the pixel 8 Both small powerful fast phones with great features and cameras I still but budget phones as well just because I like phones and well they are more affordable
You're either a sorcerer or a bad liar. Firstly, what smartphone can withstand 10 continuous years of use? Secondly, how did you use a J5 prime for 10 years yet it didn't exist 10 years ago? Same goes for A20s, (which is also younger than 5 years) especially considering you replaced it with an A34?
Yeah, i totally agree with you. I used my phone for 3 years (tecno pova) and it still works fine after i changed the down board last week. Since it has a bigger battery than my current phone i use it for my podcasts, to read novels etc. My new phone is for calls 😊
On holidays I stay on pc and forget abt my phone and I am not preoccupied with its performance anymore . In conclusion the less you use your phone... The more you will use it
I agree with you. I ever used a phone for 5years, Infinix specifically, and truly when it starts given me battery issues and camera malfunction then I changed it but before that, it was always enough.
Yeah....I'm still using my Samsung Galaxy S9+, a 6 year old flagship but I had it for 5 years. What does that mean? Not only was it more affordable to get at the time the Galaxy S10 series was new, the hardware upgrades and features were minimum. Also, every time a new model is out, not only is it too expensive, there's gonna be bugs. So when my model phone at the time turned one year old, any glitches it had were solved with software updates and it performed better than it did as well as how it holds up compared to its successor. While my phone does not get upgrades anymore, it still works well. I have no intention to upgrade anytime soon. I will keep using my Galaxy S9+ until it cannot perform as a phone anymore.
Amazing video... You are really brilliant. I use an S21 5G writing this on a keyboard using Samsung DeX and no real reason for me to upgrade... after 4 years, still great battery life!
The only phone you should purchase is one that's regularly receiving software and security updates. When the phone no longer receives security updates then upgrade.
This is one of the sober minds I've met online. In fact, just be sure of the company you purchase from. I mean, the trusted mobile companies and buy it once and relax. I just changed my Huawei this year after 6 years and still I have it. I did this to get more stuffs that couldn't be found in it plus the battery was now out of service
My Tecno camon 19pro Mondrian edition, the battery doesn't last any longer does it mean I need to upgrade it or change it to another device, but is still working fine dou just the battery
I still have my oneplus 7... Is it safe to continue using it knowing that it's not receiving any software updates? Apps like Norton security are they enough to protect outdated devices?
Im still using my Huawei P30 which I bought in 2019 for 440 EUR. It has not seen an Update since 2021 and still runs android 10. The battery still gets me through a whole day easily, which is the most impressive thing about this phone. Ive got it for 5 years now and the battery is still good. Battery life decreased though because when I got the phone it lasted 2 days. In terms of value for price its the best phone I ever had and as long as all my apps work and the battery does not fail I'll keep it.
First and for most, great work, i love your reviews Oscar. 2. I like this review as it gives insight on conumer spending. I am a flagship user, i always keep a flagship for 5 year and upgrade exactly on the conditions your highlighted. I recently changed from Huawei p30 pro tht i had from 2019, it was fine except the screen had 1 crack and was expensive to fix but i was just fine but i feared of loosing my information in it. But it still works like charm, then moved to Honor Magic 6 pro. I was Sony Xperia flagship type before that.
Still rocking my I phone 14 pro max I got when it first launched. Even though my battery health is at 81 percent, that part is disappointing, it’s still performing like a champ!
I still have my 2018 lgv40 and I'm only looking to upgrade now due to the change in Networks here in Oz in August. I've been told by my provider that my phone will no longer work on the network.
Another tip. Clean the USBC port. Cut a piece of plastic from an old water bottle or similar. Fold in half and cut to a point. Use it to run around the inside of the port. Won't cause damage but getting rid of the fluff and dirt will prevent arcing on the pins. (You can use a metal pick, but I think plastic is better if you don't know what you're doing) . If you have a spare phone, you can take a picture of the inside on high magnification to see any debris still in there. When it's clean, wiggle the cable and check it stays connected, if not, new cable.
I've got a Huawei P30 Pro it's 4.5 years old but the battery and charger plug are a bit faulty. It's time for a new fone but to get similar spec I'm looking at s24 ultra and other suggestions as this is about £1k just for the fone here in England.
am curious. What do you do with reviewed phones on your channel? Do you auction them? Cause i am interested if u do auction them. I currently us my A10 for past 5years
i agree i still use my Poco F1 that i bought day 1 that got released in my country and still performs like a champ, the only reason i will upgrade soon to a pixel is only because i wanna move out from xiaomi.
I have watched a number of your videos and I must say they very useful. I am considering getting a new device in week after using techno Camon 11 for 5 years
Honestly these smartphone launches are overwhelming sometimes... Gone are the times when a new phone would launch in years... Now every month every brand has a new model
thank you for the honest review and advise, much appreciated. I only upgrade once the phone stops working (functioning). Previous phone was 1st iPhone SE i had it until much 2022. I was forced to buy current Phone Vivo Y52 5G it's been 2 years plus with it.
Agreed. Still using Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from 2018 (6 Yrs). So far, No problems with performance. But now recently battery is draining very quickly. Looking for an upgrade now.
With performance as it relates to use case ( which hardly changes, if at all ) you soon hit diminishing returns. Shouldn't surprise anyone that profit margins are higher on flagships, because thats where they can rip you off without anyone batting an eye. Even more so after they removed chargers from retail boxes
Still rocking my Poco F3 since 2021. Recently cracked the back glass so I put a case. I still get decent battery life. I plan on keeping until the end of next year at least since I flashed a custom rom (android 14 unavailable on stock rom).
I owned a Samsung A13 but I noticed that since the last upgrade to Android 14, the phone started acting like Android 14 is not is way not compatible with it like slow responsiveness, lagging and from time to time system processing has stopped working notifications... Are these a sign to change my phone considering the fact it will not receive any major update again?
You should still be fine for another year potentially 2 years as it is still recieving security updates my samsung A12 is still reciving them until this august then it will be unprotected so yours should still be fine for another year at least
I bought the pixel 7a a week after launch to use as my daily driver to replace my Samsung Note 8. The note is still in use though, at home for the dex connectivity to my TV. And it still lasted a day & a half on battery. I wanted a slightly smaller phone though & I didn't see the need for a flagship anymore either. Hopefully, in a few years' time, in my case, probably 5+, foldables will be cheaper & screen tech will have advanced, as they are an interest.....
It is made by the system. Just look at samsung phone for example. The phone screen is made with Amoled screen that will get problem after 1-2 years. You are lucky to not get problem more than that. Software update make the phone slower just like all mobile phone manufacturers. On top of that, they remove so many features just to make people buy new phone and other accessories. No audio jack, no sd card slot, battery can't be replace. Soon maybe battery charging use wireless instead of wired one. The company is the one to be blame off. The greeds make them cut the costs and elites gain high profit. The way raw materials harvested are not ethical and workers paid lower. That is quite telling. Midrange or flagship. What is the difference? Just fancy camera, new feature, fancy costume. But at the end, the build quality will make phone not last more than 3-4 years. Consumerism cause by capitalist. Don't blame the consumers. They are get manipulated by the company.
I upgraded after 5 years 6 months. Used a mid range device before. Bought a mid range device again. I mean flagship or not we all are using it basically for the main purposes. Calling and texting which can be done anyway. If battery Life was never an issue i would never ever have upgraded
Hello good evening. The phone I'm currently using is Tecno pop 7. I've used this phone for almost a year now. Actually, the phone is good, performs mediumly and meets my needs. Though it has slow internet speed and it hangs sometimes. Storage 64gb rom, 2gb ram(expandable). Camera isn't really good, battery isn't strong, lasts for 12-18hrs with the way I manage the battery. Ordinarily, the phone is okay but if I really want a good device I can always rely on, that is strong and capable, then I will want to buy a new phone. For now I'm okay after all the phone is a year old. I just searched on a new phone (Infinix GT 20 pro) that just came out and I want to buy it. But after listening to what you've said, I'll just stick with my device. When it gets older, I'll then change it. Thank you for this video ❤
still rocking a 2nd hand 11 Pro Max. I honestly don't see any need to change it unless it actually breaks. I have a Realme backup phone and even that thing works well enough for daily use. most mid range phones these days are really more than enough for basic usage.
I like this video, I want to see more Nigerian tech UA-camrs do something different, educate people on tech stuff or something that most people don’t know about the smartphones, 5g or tech around their home
The longest devices I used were; my Infinix Hot 6 which lasted from Monday 12th of November 2018 till Wednesday 5th of May 2021 My Samsung Galaxy A32 which lasted from 5th of May 2021 till 26th of June 2024. They both served me well and I had to let go of them because of battery issues, the batteries of both phones got weak over time. They served me well though
This is so true brother!! My current phone working fine for 4 years. My purpose is simple main important thing is for Personal and work communications other than that my phone is still giving decent performance and battery life. So, flagships are overkill for my use. I can run with it till mid 2025 hopefully!!. Love from India
I honestly kinda disagree with some of these. Firstly, my phone is a samsung s21 fe, and I will definitely need to upgrade when the s25 lineup comes out. Because the performance isn't good enough. It runs very smoothly, but lags in games. And I game a lot on my phone, playing demanding games like genshin impact. I need that performance upgrade, purely for better gaming experience. Also everyone is saying that it's a bad idea to game while charging... it is NOT. I was doings that ever since this phone came out and I bought it in 2021, and my battery health is still 94%. If you need better performance, connect that charger. New samsung phones have pass through charging - the power from the charger will go directly to the cpu, increasing the performance. And for some people like me, we definitely need to upgrade often because the gaming performance becomes inconsistent
Totally agree with this. Reason i still use my pixel 6 and refused to upgrade to pixel 7 and 8. If i dont see a huge difference with pixel 9 when it drops, ill continue with the 6
I like this subject. It’s too much commercialism these days that lures you to spend your money to ‘wants rather than needs. Thank you for your suggestion on keeping your present cp if it’s still functioning normally and for letting us realize the E-waste we produce whenever we change our cp.❤
Am currently using a 7yrs old Tecno spark k7 with 1gb of ram & 16gb rom since 2017. this phone needs replacement coz sometimes It can be too hot 🔥to handle, equally Lags alot too.. Thanks
Buy a low mid to mid tier Samsung A3x /A5x series. Get security patches up to 5 years and OS update up to 4 times.. and based on my experience with phones that only get support for their 1st two years last time. You can use it for another additional 3 years even without the security patches.. just don't install anything dubious.
Thanks Joe,still using my Google Pixel 5 for about 3years now and it's still rock perfectly good cameras and battery life ❤ my next phone will be pixel 8 or 7a ❤
Thanks for this eye opening update. I've never been a new model frenzy though (Where's even the money🤷🏿♂️). My oldest device is a redmi 7a device and it's still very much in use, I use a redmi note 11 smartphone presently and I'm eyeing the redmi note 13 pro 5G.
Thanks for the Tips, I've been using my Infinix Note 8 phone since 2021. The only issue I have is battery but apart from that, it's still in good condition.
Yep. True you are. I bought my huawei p30 pro in 2019 and still rockin', very fast and no lag at all. No need to upgrade to huawei pura series. But I bought pink iphone 15 to compare with my p30 pro. Both are still rockin' in my opinion.
Charging from 20 to 80% makes my battery drain more but when I charge from 20 to 100 I get the best out of it. Also charging from 1 to 100 when the phone is of strengthen your battery life but you should do it once in 2 weeks
I used my Note 10 Plus for 4 years before upgrading 5 months ago to the S23 Ultra. I also still have a4 year old iPhone 11 Pro Max that I intend to use until the iPhone 17 Pro Max comes out. Cessation of security patches is more relevant to my Samsung phones since I tend to use them for my finances.
I have be using my tecno camon 12 phone for 6years. Now, I have change my screen 4 time, battery 1 time and charging port 1 time too. Am just scared of loosing my information
There are great bargains on discontinued phones, as there are more sellers than buyers. My phone with new warranty was just $50 U.S., and gets updates for three years.
Battery problems and hardware issues can generally be fixed, keeping you with your phone and keeping it from becoming ewaste. Try that path first if you can
Still rocking my Xiaomi Mi 10T after 3 years. Replaced main cam due to dead pixel from lasers shows in pubs. Replaced battery and I'm getting 5-6 hrs of screen on-time again. No more Xiaomi updates/support, but who cares, right?
Used the infinix hot 4 lite for 4 years till it just did not come on anymore. I used the nokia 2.3 for 4 years plus and just sold it to someone last month. Change the battery just once. I got the samsung galaxy a23 just over 2 years ago and i plan to do 5 years. Never given me any issues and games smoothly at medium settings for me. Great device.
I am still using a Huawei Mate 10 lite from 2018 with a battery repacement an year ago. It still get the jobs done on everything except gaming/camera. So I purchased an LG v60 for that purpose. But My mate 10 lite is looking outdated and now i am thinking about an update.
The actual "new" and "old" definitions have changed really. I was using S8+ until previous month shifted to S23 was happy with my previous device but it was really broken way torn out(yah my handling of device sucks , it fell from my pocket 2-3 times while riding bike) and was lagging from the past year maybe cause I was seeing others new devices. The S23 is a Beast🔥
It’s almost as if they rush it and fix the problem with software updates.
Weldone sir, what do you think is the best gaming phone for 200k to 300k budget

@LloydZyanRUy midrangers now are more than capable of handing anything you throw at them . All the extra features on flagships are gimmicky . Once a device has a decent processor and good cameras that's all most people need which one can get in alot midrangers. The gap between flagship and midrangers is no longer there
What midrange are you talking about @@Crabby.1
@@Crabby.1 I agree. There used to be a time when a flagship was worth it such as a Samsung galaxy s or iPhone 3 vs something like a blackberry or flipper but not really anymore.
Buy one high end phone and use for 5+ years. I've been doing this since 2010.
So im good for a couple years to come
How much was it
how for 9-10 years though. I am using 6yr old xiaomi works quite well, camera quality isnt great though but doesnt fell laggy
A34 is perfect
I will use mine till 4 years
Once you go premium you'll look at your other devices like what was I thinking
My first premium phone was an s21 which I still have my second was the pixel 8
Both small powerful fast phones with great features and cameras
I still but budget phones as well just because I like phones and well they are more affordable
I'm using a Tecno Camon 12 from 2019 and I definitely need an upgrade😭 It has all the problems you mentioned and more.
Lmao me too but it has served me well for four years,, upgrading to camon 30 soon
Stop buying stuff ya don't need. Save your change and money.
Question: I have a Samsung A10s cellphone. Should I buy a SD card or new phone, A15, for more storage? Thanks in advance.
Many Thanks, I have been using the Samsung Galaxy A71 since early 2020!! Still going strong!! 🙏🙏🙏
If you buy flagship phone on release you're good with it for at least 3 years, in many cases 5 years or more if you're still getting updates.
7 years 10 years.
If you play game 3 year max setting if not 7 year
The only phone you should purchase is one that's regularly receiving software and security updates.
Try replacing the battery
So apt ❤ realistic, wonderful and truthful video 👏
Nice one brother, just watching on my iPhone 12,I don’t feel any need to upgrade
Thanks for watching Josiah. 🙏🏻
I still have my oneplus 7... Is it safe to continue using it knowing that it's not receiving any software updates? Apps like Norton security are they enough to protect outdated devices?
Bought a 15 plus a week ago, won’t be upgrading till the iPhone 18 plus
I'm still on a 3+ year old Pixel 4a and still don't feel the need to upgrade. It still works fine, so what's the pointing in upgrading then?
@produktmarlo8141 Thanks, man. 🙏
BTW, how did the P30 hold up through the time of use?
(You can use a metal pick, but I think plastic is better if you don't know what you're doing)
.
I currently us my A10 for past 5years
Still have iphone 12 pro...will have to get the battery replacement...after that I don't c any reason to buy any new phone
What's the name of your font?
i agree i still use my Poco F1 that i bought day 1 that got released in my country and still performs like a champ, the only reason i will upgrade soon to a pixel is only because i wanna move out from xiaomi.
I have watched a number of your videos and I must say they very useful. I am considering getting a new device in week after using techno Camon 11 for 5 years
Honestly these smartphone launches are overwhelming sometimes... Gone are the times when a new phone would launch in years... Now every month every brand has a new model
makes sense.. still using my s10+ from 2019 and still performing really well.
The same here!
Still using my 2 s9's from 2018...but also got the s23 and s24 (got these dirt cheap with introductions deal @samsung) need to sell my s9 phones 😢
SOT?
Good afternoon, please which of these phones will you recommend?.
Samsung A25
Camon 30
Infinix note 40
Xiaomi note 13
Vivo V30lite
Infinix note 40
thank you for the honest review and advise, much appreciated. I only upgrade once the phone stops working (functioning). Previous phone was 1st iPhone SE i had it until much 2022. I was forced to buy current Phone Vivo Y52 5G it's been 2 years plus with it.
Which sumsung phone is best,I already have a55 sumsung ,pls help.
True I have been using mine for over 2yesrs it has started showing some changes like u mentioned but no money to change device
Thank you. It is really an eye opener for everyone. Thank you.
Agreed. Still using Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from 2018 (6 Yrs). So far, No problems with performance. But now recently battery is draining very quickly. Looking for an upgrade now.
Normally People only upgrade once every 4-5 year. Upgrading every year is not worth it as increasement is very minimal.
Thank you for this information Chief Oscar, I am still rocking my Samsung A72 with 8gb of ram and 256gb storage running Android 14 over a year now
Wow, just the content i need.
Subscribed!
My samsung A12 nacho edition (currently typing with) cannot handle android 13 and always says "system ui isnt responding" im upgrading this winter
The unfortunate part is the people that needs to watch this video doesnt know this video exists
Great video and even greater advice 👌
Phone companies will not be happy with this video. But my g saving the world
still rocking a 2nd hand 11 Pro Max.
The longest devices I used were; my Infinix Hot 6 which lasted from Monday 12th of November 2018 till Wednesday 5th of May 2021
My Samsung Galaxy A32 which lasted from 5th of May 2021 till 26th of June 2024.
Lol..this video is not for gamer like you 😂😂
E mentioned s23 and s24, of course s21 would need an upgrade , s23 and above are good for performance
Totally agree with this. Reason i still use my pixel 6 and refused to upgrade to pixel 7 and 8. If i dont see a huge difference with pixel 9 when it drops, ill continue with the 6
You only need to upgrade when the software isn’t able to be updated.
I like this subject. It’s too much commercialism these days that lures you to spend your money to ‘wants rather than needs. Thank you for your suggestion on keeping your present cp if it’s still functioning normally and for letting us realize the E-waste we produce whenever we change our cp.❤
And pls, does anyone have idea where i can get screen protector for redmi note 13 pro 5G
Am currently using a 7yrs old Tecno spark k7 with 1gb of ram & 16gb rom since 2017. this phone needs replacement coz sometimes It can be too hot 🔥to handle, equally Lags alot too.. Thanks
Sorry, to divert. But want to know if the samsung a24 get the one ui 6.1?
Next month
The longest period I've had a phone was 6 years. It was the TECNO W3LTE. it had a 1gb RAM with 8gb internal storage with 4G internet connectivity.
You moving up bro hope you get to a million subscribers you are a honest reviewer ❤
Yep. True you are. I bought my huawei p30 pro in 2019 and still rockin', very fast and no lag at all. No need to upgrade to huawei pura series. But I bought pink iphone 15 to compare with my p30 pro. Both are still rockin' in my opinion.
Am using currently iPhone 14
I wanna upgrade can I go for iPhone 14 Pro Max or 15 plus?
14 pro is a better option
@@Ebuka_Sax iPhone 14 pro is small and the battery don't last much
@@graceyoung7262 but you get a better camera, same chip, dynamic island and all. You only miss out on USB-C
Charging from 20 to 80% makes my battery drain more but when I charge from 20 to 100 I get the best out of it. Also charging from 1 to 100 when the phone is of strengthen your battery life but you should do it once in 2 weeks
This is the best advice from someone who reviews new phones. Thanks a lot.
I dont agree man its getting each year better but its more for the people who have money , everything is about the money bro
There are great bargains on discontinued phones, as there are more sellers than buyers. My phone with new warranty was just $50 U.S., and gets updates for three years.
From what percentage should i start and stop charging ?
From 20%-80% is ideal for most smartphones.
@@oscarmini ok. Thank you very much
This video made a lot of sense. You just told us the truth hardly shared by phone reviewers.
So Oscar Mini has a sense of humor, awwwn.
This is your most enjoyable video so far.
Do more like this.
I don't think you do watch his videos 😅
Thanks for watching Emmanuel.
I need to change my Samsung galaxy note 9. Which would you recommend with 256gb memory and that doesn't break the wallet?
A55 samsung or redmi note 13 pri plus 256/512
Thank you
Thanks a lot for the info! God bless you!
