Thanks so much for the time you spend making these videos. Im a college student buying my first 3rd gen in a couple days. Super excited to start working towards the overland build I have always wanted. Your channel has calmed a lot of the nerves I have been having about the difficulty of this project. Keep it up.

Thanks, I needed that. The struts on my 2000 are tired, especially in the cold.

Thank you, My 97 is fine in the summer, but when it's cold it's a battle to keep it opened. Just ordered the replacements from Amazon. OK, just installed them. Work better than the originals. What I need is a source for the Rubber Washers at the top. Mine have fallen apart after 27 years.

THANK YOU for showing yourself doing all steps including actually removing the pins. Thats the part in the installation where I stopped to search a video cause those damn things were stuck in there solid and I felt like I was maybe causing damage banging on them to get them out, plus showing how you pull the strut out top side first

I put these on my 01 runner in march 2021 they are holding up fine. I used the exact strong arm model. Had to get some nylon washers from the parts store and cut them to fit after that all good. I also lost a c-clip after they went flying and had to get replacements. 👍

Does anyone have links to replace the bushings, washers and c-clips? I started this project but the top bushing cracked. If I find replacement parts, I'll add links. The struts don't come with replacement bushings, washers or c-clips.

I've got the Gobi ladder as well, plus a fire extinguisher attached to the ladder, so I think I'll need a bit more lift support, and I'll order the 6815

Thanks for all the great advice and how-tos with your 4runner. I plan to replace my rear door lift struts, lower ball joint, and give it a 2-inch lift because of your informative videos. What project or trip with your 4runner or other vehicle do you have planned next?

I recently installed a bilstein 5100 lift kit to my 99 Runner w ome 883 in front and 861 springs in back. I noticed some rake and front is sagging sort of. I want to get rid of some of that rake. What would you recommend on doing so the front and rear look a bit more level?

Is this 4Runner have Virginia tags ? If so I seen this coming through the Baltimore tunnel about 2 years ago and made me build mine it’s a 2000 3.4 5vzfe lifted 5 inches on 33 inch Mickey Thompson tires

  • @PhoRunner

Update for you guys. It's now colder and these rear struts weren't holding the weight of the ladder!
If you have a rear ladder, use Strong Arm 6815 instead. It will provide enough power to lift your ladder. Do not buy 6815 for stock hatch as it'll be hard to close.
"Added lifting pressure over OEM" www.liftsupportsdepot.com/23-94-strong-arm-6815-lift-support-6815-w/
I have them on my 4runner now and they work great!
