    Fun fact:
Shiny and Rare both took potshots at each other in their games, and it all started with DKC upstaging Jim 1 in the year it released.
In EWJ for Sega CD, there's a code that replaced Jim's head with Donkey Kong's, but with an arrow through it.
Rare responded with the infamous "No Hopers" bin at the end of DKC2, as well as a render of Wrinkly Kong holding a book of recipes, with one being "Jimmy's Worm Pie."

Earthworm Jim 2 is the game I bought along with my Sega Genesis (actually the "Super Senga", a clone but very noble console). It has a special place in my heart because it takes me back to my childhood. I thought it was spectacular at the time and it still seems incredible to me today.

I actually have Earthworm Jim Special Edition on Sega CD, and I even have the sequel on Sega Saturn. The games are so much fun!
The Sega CD version is like the Sega Genesis version, only with more stuff to do, and Redbook Audio soundtrack as an excellent added bonus!

I honestly do not understand how you are not bigger Jiggy.
Everything you do is just so well produced and clear. It’s great.
Also I friggin love EW Jim. I played on Genesis but the HD remaster on the 360 is great.
We don’t talk about EWjim 3d…that was a bad game.

Thank you! I’ll just keep grinding until my UA-cam channel does make it big! I really appreciate that because I work so hard on it.
I never played the Hd remaster but it looks beautiful. I want to find it but idk if you can anymore. Pretty sure it’s been taken down? I could be wrong…

The case of Earthworm Jim is a clear example that not everything that was transferred to the three-dimensional world was necessarily good. What happened with Mario or Zelda unfortunately did not happen with other gems like Earthworm Jim, which clearly had its peak in 16 bits. It's also an example that a 2D game on a 16-bit console can be a masterpiece.

For earthworm Jim 1 the special edition of it is the best version as it added a extra part to new junk city and added a brand new level called big Bruty. As for earthworm Jim 2 both the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo versions are for the most part the same game except for some graphics and music of course. I would say the definitive version of earthworm Jim 2 would be the ps1/ sega Saturn. But each have their own downsides as the ps1 version was only released in PAL regions making it run at 50hz making it slightly slower than the Sega Saturn version which runs at a nice 60hz but the Sega Saturn version is rare because of the low sales of the Sega Saturn. As for gameplay differences the ps1 version has a low resolution than the Sega Saturn but in turn the ps1 has better sound effects as they don’t sound as compressed and noisy as the Sega Saturns version. So if you live in PAL regions get the ps1 version if you live in America then get the Sega Saturn version if you have the money for a Saturn and a copy.

Great video! I'm always glad when such a great piece of gaming history gets some love. I'll mention a funny anecdote. Years ago, when the N64 was king and prior gen games were falling in price, I recall a local store that still carried new Genesis games, and I remember looking at the Earthworm Jim box, and a quote on the back praising it as "GAME OF THE DECADE." I remember laughing that they'd make such a claim, when I was living in the era of the N64, and Playstation. Of course, journalistic hyperbole isn't uncommon. It was just funny to me at the time. The games were so great, it had that 90s sense of humor that is both classic and nostalgic now. I mean, the food level of 2 being called "Level Ate" and it's the 8th level! That pun has stuck with me forever! Again, great video and thanks for making it!

Yeah that’s actually really funny! Game of the decade even tho the decade wasn’t even over yet 😂 Yeah that level naming thing was funny. Thanks for watching! Appreciate it :)

    EJ 2 on the SNES!?!?
I like playing it on... Man I don't even have the energy to think of something.
It's the only one I had growing up, EJ on our SNES. I still think of the the piano aonata No. 14 while being... A thing into a thing, not sure why. Also marshmallows ;)
Weird what kind of useless memories from like 30 years ago you keep with you, than forget entire years and countless people.
Oh, but being a Genesis/Sega collector, the best sounding model 1, I can't think of a game that got ported by the same devs on both consoles with the Gen sounding so much better. One of the few games I feel got made for the Gen/MD primarily (even if it's probably wrong). Good sound on the Gen takes real skills, any mid to late Gen releases that refrained to use the GEM sound drivers (GEM is for Garbage Engine Music) should have had free HJ by Sega or something.
Cool vid. Will sub. I would have like to know a bit more differences between each versions. Or maybe not since EJ 1 is the best on Sega CD, and 2 really is the same game, but don't waste your life already as a kid by playing it on the SNES, it started my downward spiral.

Thanks so much for subbing! Earthworm Jim I can see being one of those games that lives in your sub conscious and you get triggered and go oh yeah I forgot about that haha!
I do a VS series and maybe sometime I’ll tackle the Genesis vs snes version and really point out the differences.

Great video! One question though, if it's not too personal. How old are you? I'm 33 and remember playing this game on my cousin's genesis as a kid and it was absolutely the hardest game I ever played as a child lol. I haven't played any Earthworm Jim games for like 20ish years so I have no idea if I'd still find them so difficult, but I distinctly remember none of us could make it past the first level.
