i see a lot of people take this song as "unrequited love" but for me i see it as someone struggling with Depression and vy1's parts represent "depression's voice"
I saw a different version of this song, with a different story than the one in this video. So I thought that this song was about someone who was trying not to give themselves into insanity
I think this song is about a boy being abused (physically or sexually) by a loved one. He begins to blame himself and seclude himself. In this interpretation, the girl could either represent his inner thoughts telling him not to tell people or the abuser (I think the latter, because she says "I'll be gone", suggesting a physical entity). During the third verse (bridge?), we see that he is deluding himself to think what's going on is okay by "replaying the good parts" rather than facing the reality of his abuse. After this, the girl taunts him saying that he must love her (I don't know what the red letter is, if someone does please reply) and she says that if it's so bad, he can get help. At the end, she lets him "free" but warns him that he will never be able to forget her and should never be able to "take care of himself." Finally, we find out what she is saying is true, as he can never forget her, and will always be in pain as he both underwent torture and lost the one he loved. At this point, he can do nothing but tell himself that it's better, despite the fact he knows it's worse and it never will improve Something else worthy of noting is the vocabulary (although I don't know if this artistically intended or a coincidence in the translation). During the first 2 verses when the boy is talking, the vocabulary is childish because it uses simple words and mainly uses direct simple sentences. There's also allot of words repeated (like the title using "hurting" and "hurtful") suggesting an unextensive vocabulary. These both suggest that the character is a child or something about his character is childish (e.g. a reliance on his abuser for approval). The girl's lines are incredibly domineering; the first chorus contains nothing but orders! There's also an interesting way in which she phrases the orders, by saying the orders followed by a question (e.g. ne~), making it seem like the order is a request and that the boy has a choice, when in reality he doesn't. During the third verse (bridge?) the vocabulary improves in complexity massively. This could either represent a maturity in the character or show the fact that 2 parts of the boys brain is conflicting: a childish impulsive side which wants to stay and a logical side which is able to realize what's going on and wants to run away. This song's really depressing :'( (it's called hurting from a very hurtful pain, what was I expecting -_- ) or maybe I'm overthinking it.
Honestly, this song is much more in line with borderline personality disorder than major depressive disorder like most people are suggesting, in fact it describes BPD perfectly.
I thought this was sung by humans till I realized VY1 and VY2 are the vocaloids "Yuuma" and "Mizki". It' s so amazing and sounds so real! Love it. Words and everything.
I think this song is about the boy feeling some heavy burden (Guilt, love, depression, etc) and the girl represents his mind that keeps telling him it's fine and he repeatedlys tries to turn his pain into pleasure. The pain gets so bad that he probably told a close friend (or something like that) something he was keeping a secret. When he said that he felt free for a short moment but then the cycle started all over again.
I think this song is about someone who's very depressed, and hurts himself on purpose. He wants to tell someone but he doesn't want to create a ruckus. So he keeps it to himself and continues what he does in secret. It comes to an end where he has had enough and decides to commit suicide, expecting the pain to go away. When his suicide concludes successful, the pain is still there and he doesn't know what to do. At least I think so. This song made me sad.
i connected to this song alot when i was younger, and now that im an adult with two of my many diagnoses being Schizophrenia and Depression, and it now all makes sense
I personally interpret this song as a girl (or boy) getting sexually assaulted by a person and wanting to tell someone about it but can't out of fear so they end up harming themselves, soon killing themselves expecting the pain to go away but it doesn't. I'm probably wrong so..
Is this about abuse or self-harm or both? I can't figure it out. At first I assumed it was the latter, being sung by a depressed person who couldn't ask for help and kept using self-harm as an outlet, with the second voice being their inner thoughts, but looking at the lyrics a second time, it seems equally possible that it's an abuse victim. In both cases, it's completely normal for the person not to feel they can/should tell anyone. A lot of the other lines in both interpretations seem pretty applicable. I can't figure out which is more likely to be the intent... I could definitely see it being a combination of the two, though. Either way, damn, that's one powerful song. Ouch.
Put the Voice of Yuma in both parts and it's me. I'm so deeply in love. Can't avoid it. But it hurts because "It's wrong." And I end up just pushing and then it hurts more and it's a never ending cycle.
For me, this song is how you feel when your love is not returned. You love them so much, so deeply, but you know they don't or they're taken, etc. So you hold it in and it hurt and you feel like you're being driven insane by it. You are ashamed to speak because people tell you to "get over it already". The pain becomes the only thing you feel. As time goes on, it lessens and you feel a bit freer, but sometimes it suddenly creeps up and takes hold of you again and it's almost like a sick cycle.
Ok, Japanese dude here. I have a very bad news to people. but First, the video is amazing. This looks cool and I love how the story goes. Also, I really love how people in the comment section sharing their own thoughts to this song. But, let me tell you the actusl story of this song This song is about stomatitis.
Am I the only person who thinks that this song is about a guy who is in love with a girl who killed herself so that he could be "free from burden" even when he never thought she was a burden in the first place?
The girl or whatever represents the boy's inner turmoil and he's always pained by her. When he converts the pain to pleasure, I don't think her existence was needed anymore so she just sets him free. But-I think he fell in love with her and was unsatisfied with her gone. I also think the the sadistic girl was helping him in someway. The pain she gave him was probably to toughen him up.
Well, the boy is holdi his mouth the entire time, and the girl says "bear with me a bit longer" or something like that... So maybe this song is literally about a toothache,a nd the girl is the toothache.
The guy is in love with a girl who is moving away soon. He is in pain because she doesn't love him back. When he tries to tell her, she refuses because she doesn't want to fall in love with someone she won't see after she moves. She believes if he ignores his love for her, it will eventually fade away. However, it never leaves him. When she finally does move, he thinks at first he's free from his feelings for her, but quickly realizes they are more painful than ever now he can't see her anymore.
OMG, I just watched some of your vids yesterday and I have to say that I really like your voice :D then to the point, yes go ahead and use my subs :) you could post your cover as a video response to the vid that you took the translation from ^_^
I feel like the song represents someone who wants to kill everyone because he thinks it'll solve his emotional problems, and it does for a tiny bit, but it doesn't actually
For me, this song had many interpretations about pain. Its up to you how you understand it. But for me as a person, I see it as having depression. I was diagnosed with it so the meaning is closely how I felt in my everyday life. There are times that I would feel like a normal person without problems, but I would experience it temporarily for minutes before I would suddenly felt an ache even though everything is fine around me.
Oh wow, I love this song, and now that I found the lyrics it's totally like my situation right now, except he won't leave me free... Somehow I don't want to be free
He probably loves her, but instead of feeling happy about it, the only thing he feels is pain. What if he told her how he felt, and she didn't feel the same or just ignored him? And what if he freed himself from that eventually, because it was toxic. But then again, instead of feeling joy for the pain he just escaped from, he ended up in the same situation again, except this time instead of loving her the same as he did, he was more heart broken than anything now at having to walk away from her. Though he knew she wasn't his best choice, he wanted her back in his life in some way, which is why he was hurting for a very hurtful pain.
Umm... Maybe it's just me, but this song seems to be about a boy who is 'used' or raped, because he states that 'turning pain into pleasure' and also mentions a guy, and his mind is torturing him, telling him no one will care or help him and everyone will hate him if he tells, so he suffers in silence, but then, for some reason, he gets the courage to tell, and the voice leaves after telling him it wanted to help liberate him, but if he forgets and moves on, it will eventually come back. He is very happy, and feels free, but he forgets and the voice comes back, and he still has the scars that he can't get rid of. Either that, or he actually deluded himself into thinking/really actually was in love with that person, or felt he had worth because of the person so he let himself be used, and now that person is gone, he misses him/feels worthless without him.
OR, they could just be friends/friends with benefits, but one could be more dominant or possessive, and he doesn't like that, but even though he doesn't like that part of them, they could still have things that are compatible, and he is hurting when he is with them, but he misses them to a certain extent when they are gone. Despite that, he still doesn't want them to come back or anything. Of course, that's just my interpretation...

It's a shame that VY1 and VY2's voices are sso underrated.
I think we all can interpret it differently, depending on what's going on in your life right now.
Lol awesome! Thiss! Ur comment will fit in every deep song's interpretation comments section.
Obviously, one has a pain but the other doesn’t feel like paying the med bill because the pain was actually guilt of taking the last oreo

i connected to this song alot when i was younger, and now that im an adult with two of my many diagnoses being Schizophrenia and Depression, and it now all makes sense

I know right
Many Anime songs are too good at helping you express yourself. Some times, some parts of the songs are just like fragments of crystal clear mirror.
Fischer Cobb There is a difference between vocaloid and anime.
One True Hetalian Oh, so i should have used the term, vocaloid?
Fischer Cobb Yeah, most vocaloid fans (excluding me) will tear out your throat if you get them mixed up.
It's like anxiety
This song is so great. Thank you for translating it
Ok, Japanese dude here. I have a very bad news to people.

wait, you're doing a cover? MY LIFE IS COMPLETE.
Oh damn.
I love this song so much ^.^
This song sounds like a boy in a very abusive parental relationship (ie: his mom's abusive) but that might just be me.
Oh so this is the PV...
Awesomeness. :)
I have gone insane.

Since everyone is writing their interpretation of the song I say it's about drug addiction
((Oh my god, I never thought it was possible for a song to describe me this well.))
Would I be able to use your translations and subs in a cover of mine? 8D I'll be sure to credit you, of course.
-.-" it's soooo saaaaaad
E.P.I.C.
Yuma and IA make the cutest couple
I first heard this song sung by Yuzuki Yukari and Mayu and omg--
They make the original look so bad my God I'm sorry but it's true their tuning is brilliant in that version.
i can't stop pressing the word like !!!! shouldn't smon know about this !!!!!
my hands are so painful!!!!
Am I the only one who realizes that
he's calling she a "he"
i've been confused with the real gender the whole time.. must be a typo or maybe VY2 was referring to both genders??
Seeing as the most popular theory involves some form of self harm, he may be referring to himself. By hurting himself and knowing he shouldn't he says "I did it again... an arrogant guy is having his way with me." so that could be it.
I don't think they've used any gendered pronouns in the lyrics, so that's a translator thing.
maybe it should be a boy but they just put a girl cuz girls sometimes fits on those stuff, maybe
I'm like really late to this but the pronoun used in the song is 彼奴 (or "aitsu" in the latin alphabet) which is a unisex pronoun.
Well i have a very wild theory (that no one ever agrees with) but here it goes:
Everyone remebers "Unable to deceive", well those of you who don't know the song; it was also made by EZFG and if features yuuma and gakupo. That song is also extremely vague, but most people I've talked to, agree that is about gakupo cheating on yuuma.
1) So my theory is that after that they broke up, so the pain was gone, but at the same time he felt empty.
However part of him also felt weak bacause he was missing someone that had cheated on him ergo, this song represents the struggle between how he feels and how he thinks he should feel.
2) That, or maybe those two songs aren't related at all. However it may be, the way I see it Yuuma and Mizki are not separated individuals, And whatever is going on inside of Yuuma's head, he clearly has a struggle (Mizki).
So when he finally gets his shit toghether, Mizki warns him that he will be conflicted in the future again so she will be back. Which makes Yuuma realize that even if that part of him (mizki) is a bit sadistic he needs it to survive, because even if she causes him pain, without her to help him face his crap the "pain" will be bigger and/or even worse.
PD I think that theory is a bit fujoshi, which is funny because I don't even like yaoi XD
And also I heve no idea which song came out first (But i suspect it was this one) So I guess that throws out the window theory number 1.
Nice
listen closely the begging says more hentai more hentai
it does XD
STAHP
Does VY1 have a official design yet? @^@ there are so much pictures with different versions of her @^@
I think Yuuma is generally accepted as Yumma already though XDD
Heres my theory behind this song:
VY1 and the VY2 are dating. VY1 is dying and VY2 blames himself for it. She tells him not to worry about her in various ways, telling him to leave her alone, ect. Eventually she passes away, and he is 'free'. Then one day, he remembers her and he breaks down again.
very dark ass shit o_ o
Both! :D
thanks ^^ do you mean the romaji or the translation? :D
It's just me or VY1 looks like Yuzuki Yukari here?
When are you going to cover it Razzy? I'd like to hear you sing this...
I loved this song and I know it's about a break up with vy1 and vy2 but I think of ... something else. btw I have a question, why is vy2 covering his mouth? it some uses me with the whole break up story.
vy2s pic is him covering his mouth to keep quiet from gasping or getting upset with his hand over his painful heart...but to me, it looks like he's covering his mouth because he might be sick and has a stomach ache. I say this because look. his hands in the center of his chest. not to the partially to the left where a heart should be (at least for us humans.) idk I'm weird.
this is great~ though i'm kind of curious on what the song is about?
0.48.... Is that... Yuno?
could be but it kind of looks like Yukari
Is VY1
i know, i was joking.. guess my sarcasm was too much?
i root for Yuuma and Yukari~~
Can i use your translation for my video? I'll put the link of this video in the description :3
I took it as a older brother who was getting molested by someone close to him, then when he can he leaves and he turns on his sister who knew it was happening and accepts it...I think I may be a lil messed up...
はっきりとは知りません。でも、「来ないで」として理解します。
VY2 sounds so much like Saiki Kusuo ._.
(I don't know who is Saiki's VA)
Sans plant It's Hiroshi Kamiya!💗... The one who voiced Levi, Akashi Seijuro, Yato, Otonashi Yuzuru, and more... He voiced Saiki... I love HiroC!! 😍😍😂😁
+Gixy Gumi11
I do too, I just didn't know his name lmao
I thought i saw kisiragi from kagerou days as the guy, mmm, still not sure...
I think the girl is yukari, she sounds like her
