    Every so often I will come across a story like this and realise “well this doesn’t happen to people like me”. The secret to filming openly in airports is to be a white man in his 30s who walks around like he’s supposed to be there. I’ve never had an issue filming at Heathrow and I haven’t heard of any of my friends having a problem either. Sorry it happened to you Jen. I rather suspect they just wanted an excuse to do something. 😞

      Thanks Paul. Occasionally there are situations that I get a really bad "vibe" from, this was one of them. This wasn't the first time I've been asked not to film, it won't be the last, but this one was very different.

    Great race Jen .. just a pity about the unfortunate ending as well as the rudeness of the security personnel. Heavy handed seems the perfect description.
    Reminds me ... A couple years ago, I made a few films on the Newcastle Metro system and during one of my earlier ones, I had a problem with a new driver. The drivers actually change at South Gosforth and about 30 seconds after he got in his wee cab he opened the door and said I couldn't film .. Why ? I asked, I've seen plenty of folk taking photographs on the trains.
    Anyway I got out at the next station and while waiting for my return train, I heard over the tannoy 'FILMING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE METRO SYSTEM' The driver had obviously radioed somebody.
    I returned to the previous station, walked about 30 metres from the platform to the Metro HQ and asked for a permit to film. Within 5 minutes I was kindly given a type-written one by a very understanding and helpful customer services member. I got the next train and finished my film. I should have waited for that same driver on his return trip, but never thought about that at the time.
    For all future filming, I always got a permit to film, but was never asked again by a driver ... obviously, it was just one of those ‘jobsworth’ members of staff we all meet once in a while.

    Dear Jen, realize that 7000 people can see how “secure” the security people of Heathrow can make you feel. Bad job by them! If you comply with their security requirements, there’s no need to intimidate. How special: at Heathrow we need protection against security guards 😮❤

    This is a curious quest- I went to Heathrow terminal 2 by my dad’s car, and on my way back I wanted to get the Elizabeth line but it was 12 minutes, so I hopped into the Heathrow express (I’m not sure if this is allowed with contactless? I presume so lol) and it seemed quick! This race will actually be so useful.
    Jen, could you clarify about the payments for heathrow express vs the elizabeth line? Looking at my tfl account (linked to my contactless), I didn’t see any charges out of the ordinary really- is there a difference and how much? :)

    • @JenOnTheMove
      @JenOnTheMove  Рік тому

      A single on the Heathrow Express is £25.
      The equivalent on the Elizabeth Line is £13.30, however because the zone 1-6 cap is £14.90, and I'd already hit that with other journeys that day (as would a lot of people, TBF), it's effectively significantly cheaper

    4 security people to deal with you Jen.... That's just intimidation and sorry to hear about your experience at Heathrow, But if that security guard misgendered you after realising the mistake... it sounds like that he said that intentionally and on purpose which is out of order. Your right when you said people mess up, Even myself mess up plenty of times, like calling Lorna.... Laura once. But the video leading up to the finishing like was brilliant.
