It's the SOA equivalent of "I am the one who knocks". Jax had become jaded enough by the things that happened to him to abandon his own moral code. Walther abandoned his moral code as he was warped by his own increasing power.
I also noticed how well that line was set up. Bobby and Chibs were shocked and upset by Tig killing her. Jax jumped, but THEN decided she was collateral damage. Call me Captain Obvious but i feel like this scene was specifically meant to show Jax’s change.

He only started to respect Jax after he became more ruthless.
Chibbs knew what jax was becoming.. he knew it needed to be done, but you can sense the disapproval because he cared about jax so much! This series was such a Rollercoaster of emotion, so good! Need to rewatch it!
Ope was his true north... He was taken from him and as a result he lost more and more of his humanity. That death touched then all in a big way. It was the turning point of the show. Tara's death was the nail in Jax's figurative coffin. But Ope's death was the cancer that gave him his death sentence.

Bobbys demeanor says it all. He knew Jax was a changed man. He was no longer that guy in season 4 that Bobby saw as the hope and future of the club. He turned into something worse than Clay.
He didn’t turn into someone worse than Clay lool. Clay had way too many deaths on his account Jax could ever even put his hands on. And the way the Club turned into a 1% club was basically Clay's doing, And Jax died undoing it

I think that was a big point in the show and the reason they killed Opie. To take Jax down this path. Opie was always about bringing the charter back to how it used to be and once he died Jax lost that.
