    Such Vintage simplicity... That is why I still have mine. 🚴‍♂ What is amazing just by changing the color of the handlebar tape and saddle to red your PSV 10 takes on a different personality...This one is SASSY. Anyone else out their still riding a 1985 PGN 10 ? Hope so...That means you should be retired also. Here's to more Riding!!!!

      It was Reynolds 531, with Stronglite components. And Sewups.

    Very nice build. I used the same method just recently to get the chain length and still managed to cut it about two links short...😩...after all these years i can still screw simple s**t up 😆

    how much does a bike like that cost usually?

    • @adamb2619
      @adamb2619 3 місяці тому

      $0 - $500 . You can snag a frame from the trash or used for $200. Then a matter of finding the components at a deal. Usually the more dirty, the less expensive.

    I have this in red with matching red cable sheaths, white turbo seat, white decals and a little blue trim to get the French tri-colour.
    The one thing I never understood, is the red, orange, yellow, white decals on a French bike. To me they just don’t match up on most frame colours and by removing mine the bike has better style continuity. Does anyone know what this colour scheme represents, if anything? Very curious to know.

    I just bought the exact frame and I have to say I love your restoration and I am following almost exactly your pathway - can you tell me the headset you used - I bought a frame and fork without a headset and was leaning to a Stronglight A9 - is that what you used or am I on the right path? Your advice in appreciated

    • @peppercycles
      @peppercycles  Рік тому +1

      The headset used on this bike was Shimano HP-6400 (Shimano 600 tri-colour series). The Stronglight A9 is a nice headset too though. Thanks for watching!

    Hello, Beautiful bicycle! I have a very similar one, but I can’t determine the model. I’m trying to find out based on the seat post diameter, which measures 26.6mm. What’s the measurement of yours?

    • @davidschaadt3460
      @davidschaadt3460 5 місяців тому

      They usually stamp the model under the bottom bracket. I'm not sure of the frame size,can't remember.

      Continental tires are always a good choice.

    What BB are you using?

    • @peppercycles
      @peppercycles  Рік тому +1

      It's a Shimano UN55 from memory.

    • @lairdcreevy
      @lairdcreevy Рік тому +2

      Mine uses a Shimano BB-UN300, because it is a 68 x 113 (Housing width x Spindle Length). Spindle length depends on the crank used versus chain-stay clearance required. You're welcome.

    I noted that you had a 7-Speed freewheel on this bike, but it's supposed to be a 12-Speed, right.? I have one of these bikes, & it also has a 7-Speed freewheel..!?
    Did these '12-Speed' bikes come with a 7-speed freewheel from the factory..?
    Hope u see this message.!
    Thanks
    Btw NOTE: It's not a freewheel, it's a Shimano UNIGLIDE cassette, a very early type of cassette - it's held on by the outer (smallest) sprocket, & requires two chain-whips (!). I haven't removed it as yet - anyone know if & how that hub can accommodate either a freewheel, or a Hyperglide type cassette..?
    Info PLEASE!
    & Thanks.

    • @peppercycles
      @peppercycles  Рік тому

      Hey there, no it didn't come with 7 speed cassette/freewheel from factory as far as I'm aware. I just thought I'd give it an extra gear as I had one available. Thanks for watching!

    • @PRH123
      @PRH123 Рік тому +1

      It says "12 vitesse" on the chainstay, so it would have had a 6 speed freewheel. I had a similar Peugeot frame in the 80's, but with Reynolds 531 tubing.
      I dont think the HG cassette will go on a UG freehub. The HG has one wide spline for alignment, whereas on the UG the splines are all the same size.
      Although you can unscrew the UG freehub from the hub, and replace it with an HG freehub, on which you can slide an HG cassette.
      You definitely can not use a freewheel, those screw onto the hub, so the hub is completely different. You would have to rebuild the wheel with a new hub that can take freewheels, which assumedly you wouldn't want to do.

      @@PRH123 Hi, Yes, I went ahead & replaced the 7spd UG with a 7spd HG, & sold the complete UG to a buyer in Canada - yay!
