I leave the drawer/ cupboard doors etc open until I keep away the item I've taken out. It drives me crazy to see it open, so I'll keep away the item for sure!
I keep a box or bag in my closet where I put donations in- whether it’s an clothing item that no longer fits/ stationary items/ unused kitchen utensils nothing is to small to declutter ☺️ and when the box is full I donate it
My friends and family always ask how I have the time to keep my house so tidy, and I swear I don’t even feel like I clean because I do so many little habits like this! My space never gets out of control messy, so I rarely spend a long time cleaning.
This is exactly what I needed to read!! Thank you! I don’t know how people do it but between your comment and her video it’s totally possible. Seemed like a dream :)
In smaller spaces, like a messy bathroom counter, I’ll use a 5-second rule that’s sort of like the minute rule: if it would take me 5 seconds or less to put something away, do it now; if it would take longer, I can decide when to do it. I count down from 5 as I start putting something away and then restart the count when I pick up another item. It’s truly amazing how a few seconds clears a space right up.
When my children were small, I worked long hours on the weekend. On Monday after dinner, we had 15 minute pick up. We each had a job- dishes, vacuum, pick up, dust. We played upbeat music and set the timer. It was amazing how much we accomplished in 15 minutes!
Every Wednesday I do a reset in my home. I just go through the whole house and wipe/pick up what I haven't gotten to yet. It's hard with 5 kids home 24/7 with homeschool. It's not laziness- it's my chronic illness that's so aggressive that's interfering with my ability to have it spotless. I liked your video. Great tips and not judging. You never know why someone's home is the way it is. I agree on the counters! And bed making. Huge difference just in that.
Great video! I am a housewife, he works from home. There are certain things I do daily so it dosen't build up. Then there are things I do once or twice a week so our home stays neat & clean. I find it is much easier than letting things get behind and having a lot of stuff to do.
Loved this video ❤ I started doing most of these habits years ago when I realised living in my clutter was not helping my anxiety or stress levels and you’re so right, a clutter free home, workspace and car is so nice and makes living life less stressful. My husband used to think I’m being unnecessarily extra, but he’s since understood that I just hate having things pile up and having to clean up a big mess.
Thank-you, it took me awhile to figure these all out for myself but I did and my home is a lovely refuge. I’m sending this to my three young adult children. A big one is processing the mail immediately and dealing with action items right away. This is a big anxiety reliever. It seems hard but it makes things better if we will just do it as a habit.
I am seeing the effects of having NOT done this for 2 weeks. I have to spend a long time tidying and cleaning today. Dishes, fridge dated food, amazon packaging and some returns. Some shopping not packed away. Dresser/bathroom littered with products, piles of mail etc etc. I have had a realisation today, i need to follow your advice. My mind is blown 😅
You can prevent a lot of hair in the shower by brushing your hair right before you step in. My hairdresser gave me this tip. That one is less than a minute.
A number of new tips for me. Thank you. Some tips will not apply in tropical countries with humid weather. Used 🧥 👟 are better left to air or aerated in between use instead of placed in closed closets.
Great video, my Gran used to say the same as you, "never leave a room empty handed" .. I tend to do little things as a habit & also do half an hour or so every morning & evening. It isn't a show home but we are usually tidy! Love the genius idea of scanning receipts, I have a filing cabinet thing at the mo but I'm going to work on that!!
When I come home I always put my wallet on the shelf in the foyer closet & the keys go on a small hook on the inside of the foyer closet door. Special tickets for concerts , the train, sports events , ect. go in the same place in a kitchen cabinet. Receipts from recent purchases also go in the same place in case I need to return them . Basically use the same place for various important items so you know where they are at all times . Also, empty the clothes dryer and dishwasher soon after they turn off.
Dude - great video. Very helpful tips such as putting shoes, coats, bags away away as soon as you get in the door. Resetting all the spaces as frequently as possible. I laughed when you said, "60 second touch up before guests" ... 60 seconds?! More like 60 minutes over here! Lol. Hope to continue working on building up these small habits. Thanks for sharing.
I realize that I do pretty much all of these automatically because I've chosen to teach myself to do them. The frustration is my ADHD partner does absolutely none of them and it drove me mad until I understood his ADHD. Now we have one designated space where he can go full gremlin mode and I can maintain the order in all the other rooms. It saved my relationship and from me feeling resentful about doing all the work keeping our home manageable and presentable.
Clean as I go. I have a bag or basket with me so i can take items with me that don’t belong on the main level or room. I wipe down surfaces often, including sweeping and mopping my floors on each level. Putting clothes away after the dryer cycle ends. Garbage is taken to the bin after I tie it closed. There’s so many things that make my life easier.
Great video! Loved the part about not leaving the next person having to put the toilet paper on the holder! So thankful when others do the same!😄Thank you and God bless you!🌻

@@AshlynneEaton I've been trying that for about 2 years now. Trying to give the good example, asking to do the small tasks, implementing the 1 minute rule. Same at my apartment, even though it is only three of us. I always end up washing the dishes and, or cleaning out the fridge and freezer. I'm looking forward to renting on my own. I've been setting up task lists on the fridge door so everyone takes turns. But my roommates don't go through it. Thanks to Ashlynne, my sanity has stayed intact. I love her advice!
Same - I *hate* dishes. But I noticed that when I live with others, I naturally tend to pick up and tidy, and I have little problems doing the dishes. I think I have to create an imaginary roommate or partner, then it will just happen. 😂
I do the majority of these things as well. If something crops up, I say to myself, "Can I do this now?" and if so, I try to do it, otherwise it's so easy to put stuff off. I try to clean up as I prepare and cook meals, then there's less to do afterwards.
That's such a lovely living room! Is the artwork a tv screen or actual art? I love it! The one minute rule is such a good idea. I've been trying to create new little habits and was looking at Kaizen principles and the whole 1% improvement approach and have started making sure every night I gather the remotes and put on the TV console. Has been saving so much time as we're not spending time hunting for it. I don't agree with bed making as that just seems pointless to me, but love all your other tips ☺️
I already naturally have most of these habits, so our house is always tidy. Only problem is the dishes which is my hubby's duty since I get an allergic reaction to the dish soap and we don't have space for a dish washer 😂 😂 😂
First time seeing your channel and this was the video that introduced me!! LOVE all the habits and I’ve started implementing them the day I watched this. Nevertheless it’s helped me maintain a cleaner home and a happy hubby that appreciates not having to do a ton of dishes at the end of the day 😅
I like to wipe the bathroom sinks, counters, and toilet exterior with a cleaning wipe each day. I dry the mirror with my damp towel, as well as the shower door after using squeegee.
This is a great summary video of how to keep a home tidy. Would make a great addition to premarital counselling. Perhaps you could make four shorter videos of these tips with the same audio and images of men doing the tasks discussed?
I double check during the tidying up that I've done my tasks and not forgotten part of it. I can then cross them off my list. Clothes I can wear again I note where I put them in the closet.
Hey! I love the tips! Thank you for sharing. I would love to know where you got your loose leaf tea organizer jars. So so cute. P.s you have inspired me to make the shift to loose leaf tea only :)

It’s a Samsung frame TV, so it’s designed to display art went on “rest mode”. And
love the 1% improvement concept!

I like two cutting boards. One for meat and one for veggies. Always plastic.
Good job lady! The Quicker you talk the less am inclined to listen. Good content. Thanks!😂
I already naturally have most of these habits, so our house is always tidy. Only problem is the dishes which is my hubby's duty since I get an allergic reaction to the dish soap and we don't have space for a dish washer 😂 😂 😂
Please share your bed information. I absolutely love it ❤
Love the one touch rule it’s what I struggle with
Great video! I will apply all these tips.
This is a childhood habit that has continued into my sixty’s. 👍🏻👍🏻😉

We could totally be roomies! Great habits I use every day!
I do need some motivation to deep clean bathrooms. They are so disgusting!
Very useful content. Thank you!!!
If only this worked for a family. It’s easy when it’s yourself or a couple. I live with my bro and 2 sis and our mom. We all clean everyday
De très bonnes idées bravo ashlynne 😊
First time seeing your channel and this was the video that introduced me!! LOVE all the habits and I’ve started implementing them the day I watched this. Nevertheless it’s helped me maintain a cleaner home and a happy hubby that appreciates not having to do a ton of dishes at the end of the day 😅
Oh where did you get your pillows for your bed? The one with the fringes and tassels. So pretty!
I like to wipe the bathroom sinks, counters, and toilet exterior with a cleaning wipe each day. I dry the mirror with my damp towel, as well as the shower door after using squeegee.
Genius ideas!
Great list. Thank you
Great info😊
Very helpful. Thank you.
Great ideas!
Very helpful!! Random question 😬 Where did you get your bed from? 😃
Love it!😊😊😊😊
Excellent. Thanks!
This is a great summary video of how to keep a home tidy. Would make a great addition to premarital counselling. Perhaps you could make four shorter videos of these tips with the same audio and images of men doing the tasks discussed?
Great video 👍🏾
This is my first video of your I watched. Loved it.
New subscribers!!!
Loved this. Thanks for the quick tips to make a clean, tidy, cozy home. ❤
Love it!
I double check during the tidying up that I've done my tasks and not forgotten part of it. I can then cross them off my list. Clothes I can wear again I note where I put them in the closet.
OHIO: Only Handle It Once!!
Good motto to embrace!
I do all of them thanks so much love this video❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Any tips on how to apply these tips when experiencing burnout after a challenging day at work?
These are great tips! I just subscribed!😊
"Exspired" food can still be consumed for a few days - as long as it's smelling good, has no mold or blown up package.
I love leftovers!
Hey! I love the tips! Thank you for sharing. I would love to know where you got your loose leaf tea organizer jars. So so cute. P.s you have inspired me to make the shift to loose leaf tea only :)
Great video. I am a candlemaker and was wondering where you purchased the beautiful amber candle jar from please Ashlynne 🙂
